Very true and also makes for an interesting story. They might be fighting amongst themselves as much as others. I really don't get the current dislike for Moria. The are pretty unique in the game. How many other fireteam troops are there with Mim-6 and long range weapons!? Also able to take doctors in their teams. They are expensive but I think that it's justifiable. They have the ability to either be a static long range piece or moving up with Multi Rifles and BSG Rev Healers.
Thematically they're awesome, their problem was and is the meta of the game. It's always incentivised taking cheap shit with chain rifles and smoke that can easily trade Vs expensive 1w infantry
I get that but they are 1w that are hard to wound in the fist place. Not only Mim-6 but then also ARM3.
DTWs don't care about Mimetism, and even with ARM 3 it's a 50/50 chance on the defensive roll. I don't like the approach many people take - discounting the advantages of certain units, if they don't fit what passes for meta "wisdom". But I do get some of their arguments.
For some yes. I was hoping for a restructure of ISS. Nomads just came off of good changes to Corregidor in 2021 so I'm a bit jealous. Also, they said there's no 2-player pack. So next year Bakunin gets the love and then what? A book that's, probably, going to be more about them and that's about all. But again that's assuming they hit. They also have an army with White Noise. So MSV is not as good of an excuse.
Next year ... do we think Yara Haddad will ever be made into a model? With Defiance models we have two of a lot of characters, but we still miss models for some altogether.
DTWs don't roll to hit, I think you're confusing them with MSVs. And while fielding Moiras should mean planning for it, a sacrificial warband can often get through and really spoil the day for elite 1W fireteams.
Yara Haddad is the Code One Hero Blister for Haqq (with Phoenix for ASS), confirmed during the Gen Con seminar.
No I was thinking Double Trouble. You would think that DTW would do it but I've had way to many easy dodges ruin my hitting anything with them. I've had shaolin, beast hunters, Kuang Shi etc, get whole fireteams under a template only to have them all easily dodge or make their ARM rolls. While one of them easily kills the threat.
It just looks like a weird fireteam, what are you going to do with it? Hang back and kill ARO pieces with the HMG? Ok, you just spent 100-160 points to kill the one ARO piece your opponent maybe brought. Gonna advance with them? Ok, now you have a bunch of 1W models in the midfield where they're dealing with not just active turn DTWs, but also ARO DTWs, mines, ARO Spotlight, CC experts... the midfield is a dangerous place! And for what? What are a bunch of Moiras accomplishing in the midfield that's worth risking 100-160 points? I mean, I don't play Bakunin so maybe Moira fireteams are fantastic and I'm just not seeing it.
The same could be said about a lot of 1w troops. Not just them. Which I find a little sad. I'm a bit sick of players always caring about what gets them a win instead of a fun game for both. I included myself in that sometimes. Anyway, that includes Ye Mao, Druze, khawarij, Namurr, and others.
I know you play Hulangs sometimes. You've seen firsthand how hard it is to keep a unit that relies on actual face-to-face BS attacks alive in the midfield, and Hulangs are a good bit more versatile and resilient. Moira fireteams are far too expensive to keep in the back buffing a HMG, they need to move forward and do the mission unless you get very lucky with Zero performance. I've seen people get results from Moirae before, but that was either a lone HMG or in N3 before everyone and their Antipode got Templates.
Everyone? Nomad players in general as it looks like something big is coming their way but everyone else could be affected? Other factions new units inbound will make it interesting too.
