I have done a Zayin with a +1 bs remracer to save me on swc. I find the asparas hard to take in vanilla because of the swc cost.
As someone who plays a lot against Aleph - I do fully support that. Make the "jump" an Entire Order Skill, and I'm fine with it. Yes, it would benefit a REM-heavy army, but jumping between REMs a lot would drain the Order pool quickly, so IMO it is a limiter enough. It could be made even more costly if it required a Command Token, but I believe it would be too much: a Regular Order is expensive enough. A TinBot that does what? There are several TinBot types available. Besides - TinBots, by definition, affect the model they are attached to. Making a TinBot attached to a REM-driver affect the REM the REM-driver is currently "driving" would go around that rule. Tht's overcomplicating how things work, IMO. I'm against that. I believe it would be complicating the rules beyond necessity. Therefore I'd be against that. The question is: should Apsara Cyberdancer be anything beyond a boost for your REMs (and a Regular Order)? I believe she should. Maybe slap a Specialist Operative skill on her? The other (cheaper) profile is already a specialist by the virtue of being a Hacker. Though cutting a statpoint or two to save on the total cost might be an idea.
Fair point. The firewall tinbot was my thought. It's been a longstanding gripe of mine that the army piloted by an AI, which relies heavily on remotes and hackers, doesn't invest in firewalls. It's the most basic security OSS could have. The fact that there are non to protect their hackable line troops is just silly.
I think the Cyberdancer is viable as is, but somewhat boring. These days, I run dakini link + apsara + Evo hacker + Shukra consultant + Garuda + Posthumans for the first 10 orders. Add skirmishing midfielders to taste, or possibly a danavas because white noise is fun. It's not the most competitive thing ever (things that mess with linkteams can obviously hit it super hard), but the connected and interdependent units feels very Aleph. However, the ability to spend a full order to connect the apsara to a different remote would be pretty awesome. Otherwise, merging the two profiles to have a remdriver/killer hacker might also be really cool - but I'm guessing it'd also be 25 points or so?
I wanted to write here to no open a new topic but isnt it nice to use asparas on daleth rem now ? daleth becomes cool with bs13,wip 14 forward obsever with repeater and marksmanship through the year.
I think it's a solid option for OSS. I'd typically look to one of the rem drivers for vanilla though, because the Apsara costs 1 SWC in vanilla. I think an active gunfighter (Zayin, Dakini, or Rudra) is usually a better investment though. The FO bots are solid now, but they still function as secondary gunfighters.
I love the Apsaras modell, its one of the best in the OSS range. But the use of this lady seems....limited. I think it goes without saying that the only target of the Cyberdancer is the Dakini Heavy weapon of choice, either MSR or HMG, based on the situation. The Rudras and Samekh already have BS 12, Garudas are not on the field and on Probos, Lahmeds and Daleths it seems wasted. Netrods dont have a weapon to shoot with (and thats the ONLY reason why i dont use cyperdancing Netrods), leaving the obligatory TR-Bot, whic could be a nice option, but also seems quite expensive. In the end, after you buffed either a Dakini or TR-Bot to BS13 you are stuck with a 22 Points SMG, unable to do anything else than beeing an expensive SF-option. I think i will try the "all-eggs-in-one-basket" option, with a Dakini Core with an HMG buffed to kingdom come by apsaras and EVO, for the sweet sweet BS 19 B5 Fireplatform.
Yes. And, I do think that there is a lot to be said for the Zayin as the target. Dakinis are very strong, BS 14 and mimetism is phenomenal. A BS 13 HMG with climbing plus, especially when we have a mobile engineer like parvati is pretty good as well. Being able to buff it to effective BS 16 is nothing to sneeze at either. I wouldn't do it very often, as thats at least 60 points to support a single one wound unit. It can be very strong against an opponent who null deploys though...
