Please clarify that the app is optional and a play group can get the same information from an actual book. A1: The app (a free app that you can use on your computer, phone, or tablet) will be necessary for the preparation of the table and during the game since it shows and manages the narrative plot and gives instructions to the players. It also manages the AI of the enemies. A2: You can listen to the reasons in the last #whispersoflindwurm. Spoiler: video whispers 7 As our KS campaign is online, we understand that the person who buys our game has access to a digital device. You only need a phone, tablet, or computer to download it.
Thank you for posting that. Sadly, I may miss the dungeon crawler then. I don’t like interfacing with a device while I’m gaming with friends. At the rate I get to play games, there’s also no guarantee by the time I get around to it that CB will still be maintaining the app. i know infinity requires an app to play, but I’ve always comforted myself with the theory that if cb went out of business or stopped supporting infinity, they would likely put out a pdf deal f profiles. Worst case, I could just copy out the profiles by hand, ( or go M back to playing 1st, 2nd, or third ;). i still wish CB all the luck with the KS, just wanted to lodge my request for printed rules for future stand alone games.
Ah, yes, let's take the absolute worst design piece from the board game world and apply it without concern for the longevity of the game, deprecation after servers aren't sustained for the app service or the app becomes an incompatible with mobile OS updates. Completely unsold on the whole thing with just this.
What does this have to do with what I said? I know XCOM the board game has an app required to play it. It's a shit idea, as soon as the servers / app are not sustained, the game will be an expensive piece of junk.
