The maths for the Unidron sniper in active turn with Assisted fire?...B3, BS17? Vs Grenzer on B2 BS19, We have better odds, you've also got the added bonus of probably surviving to go again if you lose round 1. Vs Kamau B3, BS14 Vs Kamau on B2 BS16 again we're odds on. I can't calculate it exactly because I don't think the dice calculator currently handles plasma ammo, but in both cases the odds favor the non-Unidron sniper.
Mmm it's not as black and white as I expected, think this is because of DA ammo, but my basic maths brain tells me the Unidron hits more but is less likely to wound more...3 dice over 2 dice trumps a 10% advantage. Odds calculator doesn't do Plasma but it does calculate odds of doing 2 wounds which is needed to either knock the Unidron or wipe the other. Maths. Unidron Vs Grenzer/Kamau both linked Unidron with assisted fire 2 wounds odds Unidron wins inflicting 2 wounds = Grenzer removed 37.49% Grenzer wins inflicting 2 wounds = Unidron Unconscious Level 2 28.10% Kamau Unidron wins inflicting 2 wounds = Kamau removed 37.48% Kamau wins inflicting 2 wounds = Unidron Unconscious Level 2 28.8% I don't understand why I can't see single wounds stats though...
Is it worth playing OCF if I'm not using link teams? I find it hard to fit in all the specialists and tools i feel that i need.
Typically you're better off with a Vanilla faction if you're not using link teams, unless the Sectorial has another unique feature you can plan around such as improved AVA on pieces key to your plan or profiles not found elsewhere.
I'm kind of just wondering if i need to rethink my whole approach as for the models i need to update my collection (there's only 1 nexus mini?!) i could just do a different army. :-/ It looks like NCA are getting models again soon tho no ulHans(Blix)
I use the Pneumarch model as second Nexus. IMHO the main advantage of Onix over vanilla are the TAG/Umbra fireteam. And the Plasma Sniper rifles.
Remember that you can proxy to your heart's delight. Personally, I use Shasvaasti Cadmus models as my nexus. Onyx is very fireteam oriented, it's true, and it has access to core plus two harises, which is very rare. It has a great roster of characters. Its biggest weakness is very few CC specialists, and the ones you have are super expensive. Onyx is one of only 6 armies not to have access to cheap warband-like units, and it's a big issue for them (the others being OSS, Invincible Army, Spiral since they removed diggers, NCA and SAA).
