In a world in change, magic has reappeared. A mysterious fog spreads through the land, echoes of the past resonate in Lindwurm. The future is uncertain, though the present urges. This is the moment for decisions to be made. Would you pay the price? Warcrow is a fantasy universe in which different nations must decide which part they will play in it. Hold on to what they know, fight for what they believe in, unravel the mysteries surrounding them, protect their heritage or stride towards their destiny. We introduce you, Warcrow, our new fantasy universe! Brace yourselves because we have exciting things coming to your tables! WARCROW WEBSITE ----------------------------------------- Corvus Belli inaugurates a new fantasy universe: Warcrow. A brand new IP with its own narrative development to become a new line of products to complement the company's current catalogue. A classical fantasy atmosphere featuring recognizable elements from the genre but, at the same time, including new ideas created by Corvus Belli. Elves, humans, dwarves, and orcs will coexist with totally new races. It is classical fantasy with the Corvus Belli touch. Warcrow is a fantasy universe where the different nations must decide what role they will have in their world's events. Hold on to what they know, fight for what they believe in, discover the mysteries that surround them, protect their civilization or advance towards their destiny. The miniatures will be, of course, a very important part of the product development. The quality and spectacularity of them are guaranteed. This time they will be made of plastic. Warcrow Adventures, a Dungeon Crawler, will be the first product of this line to see the light of day. It will be launched on Kickstarter at the end of the year. At the same time, it will be the gateway to discover what the universe is like and who dwells its lands. Mechanically this Dungeon Crawler has a completely new rules engine and is completely different from anything developed so far by us. Warcrow, the wargame, will be published in 2023 and will have monthly releases. In other words, it will be a complete product line to collect. Like the dungeon crawler, mechanically, it is a totally new product. However, the set of symbol-dice will be shared with the Dungeon Crawler. Keep connected for more info :)
Curious... But all I can think of is: "Remember Defiance that we abandoned as soon as it got released? If you want some more dungeon crawlers - buy our new stuff!" I really hope it won't be another Kickstarter.
Given that it looks like it's supposed to move into a full blown fantasy wargame that doesn't seem like it'd really matter it's just a bridging game to get people invested into the wargame.
I will say this though up front if it's using the stupid A! dice system I'm already checked the fuck out. Numbers please.
It wasn't too long ago I'd have been worried about CB handling two mainline wargames at once, dividing attention... but they've clearly demonstrated through Aristeia/Defiance/TAG Raid that they've got the capacity for rules and design work on other things without seeming to break their pace for Infinity. The Nottingham giant has unfortunately recovered from its worst lows, and there are a lot of other games out there, so competition will be fierce getting a foot in the door of the fantasy wargamescape, but not a doubt there'll be some fantastic miniatures, and I'm interested to see where they go rules-wise!
Great stuff thank you! So, will the 2022 Kick Starter Warcrow Dungeon Crawler be compatible with the actual full release 2023 Warcrow Wargame in any way? (ie, rules, models, or otherwise)
Warcrow Universe is a separate line for us; it is designed by a total different dev team and will have a different production and release schedule. Infinity will continue with the current line, and Warcrow will follow its own line. I'm sorry you don't like symbols, but hey, who knows that if you try it and suddenly you like it!
The problem is they're not fast or intuitive, which firstly is annoying but more importantly it basically makes them a new language barrier that I have to overcome every time I need to teach someone the game. This basically means outside of massive popular influence (such as Star Wars) it relegates the game to a niche player base at best and makes it really really fucking hard to get new people into it. Realistically like all the other systems like this the player base here will straight up be dead on arrival and it will be more effort than it's worth for me to resuscitate it. I hate to say it but it's likely your primary audience is going to be a subset of your playerbase from your existing products which is going to make it unfeasibly hard for me to produce a viable long term playing group out of it. d6 or d20 system, or shit maybe even cards like Malifaux I could make it work. Not this though. Which is a damn shame given I always like an excuse to buy nice looking miniatures.
I'll be interested to see how this turns out. I'm sitting on a lot of Tohaa money right now. Since I can't buy new Tohaa miniatures I need to find something else to buy...
What if one of the races in Warcrow is Tohaa? (and then CB kills them off, hahaha! Sorry, just kidding, I'll leave now...)
I'm excited for this! And while I'm generally cautious/reserved about proprietary dice systems, I think Artisteia!'s is intuitive and easy to pick up on. Can't wait!
First thing that came to my mind. Got burned once with Defiance, an underdeveloped product that never got properly fixed, I am not going through another CB KS. If it goes to retail, than I’ll see what is what after some reviews.
I hate to admit it, but this had actually crossed my mind when I saw "new races" listed in the original post.
