Just consoom and praise, I'm sure that'll help when next time they'll tell that they *have* to move Bakunin OOP due to SKU bloat because they keep releasing new stuff instead of updating old.
No, dammit, just no! I’m not doing nomads, I don’t care how pretty a TAG it is!!! *checks wallet* No! I’m all outta cash at the moment anyways…
"Decent looking Moran" would be a resculpt. Gator is a new unit. Also, I don't know how went unnoticed by you, but the art in the book shows, apparently, how the new Morna look is going to be. Pretty nifty, if you ask me (though not nifty enough for me to get rid of the old ones I own already. But I'm the weird one there, so don't mind me). So, I assume they do have a new Moran sculpt somewhere in the pipeline.
Also, now the Nomad C1 releases are nearly complete (Booster Beta in May, followed by the hero blister) we'll start seeing more N4 releases for them.
On the Gator, some designer really hates Obiwabans and Shinobu. That is the most "you Don't attack in CC" TAG in the game. Edit: It looks beautiful, though!
Also, I have a feeling it is making Iguana completely redundant. Gecko does hold its niche - it is really a budget TAG, and it can work in Duo Fireteams. But at 9 (or 11, with NCO option) pts more than Iggy, Gator is IMO a whle order of magnitude more resistant (full 3 wounds rather than 1 W NWI Iguana has, also, normal MBT stats and Multi HMG. And that's even before I start on all the CC gimmicks). I guess we won't be seeing non-NCO Gators on tabletop, really. Crregidor has no LTs really worth using their LT Orders on their own, and the only other NCO in the sectorial is Wildcat (Spitfire, IIRC). Which only adds to Gator's superiority compared to an Iggy. It is an extra Order on a model you really want to be out there and active...
Doesn't Iguana have 2 STR and a 2W pilot? making it a "4W" model to deal with, yes, the last two W is not a TAG, but still.
It so looks like they are retiring the Iguana. Corregidor also got a cheap obvious LT in the Raveneye Officer that would pair up nicely with this new NCO. Edit: LT is not available for Corregidor! Thanks @colbrook!
I'd disagree with that. From a certain point of view, yes, it is 4 wounds you have to deal with before you remove the points Iguana is worth from the table. But on the other hand, it is a lightweight TAG at its ARM 6. And once it takes 2 wounds, you no longer have a TAG - you're left with basically a rather lackluster HI. Now, back in N2, when it was introduced, you could at least try to evacuate the Operator to a safe location by the means of the Ejection System - but the modern Escape System makes it way more difficult. So I stand by my opinion - Gator does outclass Iguana to a point of making Iggy redundant. Even from the point of pure statline. Taking down STR 3 ARM 8 TAG is going to be way more difficult than taking down a 1STR NWI (which effectively Iguana's 2 STR is, given it has no Unconscious state) ARM 6 TAG. If CB want Iguana to stay relevant, it needs a rewrite. It needs it badly.
I just want to see a render of that beautiful motherfkkr. I gives CJC a MBT, which we dont have. Iggy is dead, but it has been dead for years, we dont even mourn her anymore. In Vanilla, it is a sidegrade to the Szally, so I am happy with it as well. Does CJC needs it? Not really, but it is a nice addon. TBH what I think would have been a brilliant move was to add this Gator, discontinue both Iggy and Izzy, and make this available for Bakunin as well. Then redesign a new Lizard as a S6 light TAG, fluff-wise it was so outdated they took out the heavier hardware and made it more apt for space. Improvements coming from wetware making it more compact, more bizarre... more S6.
The anti-melee focus on this TAG and the Chernobog are interesting. I really wanted this one to have courage. Tired of having a TAG in suppression and a lucky hit (not a wound, a hit) knock me out of it cause I failed a guts roll.
The Gator really feels like a 13 year old wrote that profile. Still vulnerable to E/M weaponry, if only the E/Mitters were more widespread.
In that they went "it's so unfair that my TAGs keep getting killed in cc so I better give it NBW and make it supercheap"?
It's probably more like "What faction defining feature haven't we put on a perfectly optimised new Nomad unit yet? Ah yes, CC."
The aesthetic is perfect, but at the same time it is contaminated with its dirt optimized profile, which I never asked for.
