I think one of the reason Cb decided to release MAF is that other sectorials waiting for rework are from factions that already had a release within last two years or they are planed for nexr Code One box. I agree that vanilla CA don't need a buff, but it is question if MAF update will have impact on the vanilla. Right now vanilla CA doesn't use Morat units with a few exceptions and Morats would need big buff to take a slots in vanilla CA from all Shas camo units.
And we're back to the elephant in the room: Daturazi :D Whenever someone says CA vanilla doesn't use many MAF units, I have to bring these guys up, because I'm hard pressed to find a CA vanilla player who doesn't use them. I myself will frequently use Daturazi, the Raicho, Rasyats and now the Tyrok in my lists. I've tried Zerats, Suryats and Sogarats with less frequency, and back in N3 I'd regularly use a lone vanguard hacker as a cheap hacker choice. That is maybe 1/3 or half the MAF roster, so it's not that bad. And really, we only need one or two 'busted' profiles to catapult Vanilla CA even further. However, I am not worried about that, as by this point I think Vanilla CA is kinda plateaued? Like, it's so good any improvement is going to be negligible.
I am also trying to use Morat units in mine vanilla CA, but from discusions on the facebook, discord and from other forums I have a feeling that I am in the minority and most of the CA players ignore Morats in their vanilla with exception of Daturazi and maybe Rasyat.
Dont you dare CB do something... the proposal of a Chimera-like construct coming from MAF would be a non-negligible addition to Vanilla CA.
Yes, that is probably true, but Oznat with sync Preta is pretty close to Chimera-like unit and this option would need pretty big buff to be as strong as Chimera. What I want to see is to make this loadout more viable and make this loadout new version of Oznat. Maybe with possibility to take 1-2 sync beasts. And there is also easy solution to problem that new Oznat will make vanilla CA too strong. CB can make Oznat MAF only unit. We already saw some sectorial specific units (Gwailo, Knight Commander) and I think CB should use this approuch even with MAF.
Morat Uprising would be most excellent. Vanilla CA loses Daturazi, Rasyat, and not much else. Morats become their own faction and get a substantial rework. The fluff improves dramatically with the diminishment of CA as constant existential villain.
I personally would love another alien based mercenary faction as a counterweight to spiral, centered around morats, libertos and of course, exrah
I'm going to be the voice of dissent and say that Daturazi, like a lot of smoke-throwing, chain rifle wielding, impetuous warbands, are probably too good for their points. I feel like it's a design niche that has been a minor issue for basically as long as the game has been around. Granted, Daturazi are regular and somewhat expensive overall, which keeps them off of the worst offenders list, but they still have a long history of overperforming for their points (both in MAF and generic CA).
I kinda agree with you that these kind of troops overperform, but I have in mind that's a good thing. MAF tends to have overcosted models, and Daturazi are one of the few that feel undercosted by comparison, which helps even things out, but not much. I'm afraid rebalancing them might end up giving MAF yet another overcosted model :/
It's the undercosting of mimetism that does it, its always been way more effective than the price you pay for it
Will it really be a start collecting Moarts mercenary army.... Just compared Morats Start Collecting Box against TAK Start Collecting... TAK you see the Ariadna and the TAK logo on top right. Name is "Start Collecting Ariadna" Morats you only see the Morats logo and its called "Start Collecting Morats" No Combined Army Logo, no where on the box. Bets are open if Morats will be a new mercenary force and no longer available in Combined Army :O And Raveneye is the boss of the new mercs.. Makes sense with the book, together with the Morats Release..hmmm :)
JSA have the NA2 logo as well as their own, if Morats were going NA2 you'd expect the same thing. The image is possibly a placeholder render or an adjustment to the packaging. We've also had zero credible rumours about Morats becoming an NA2.
People are still bitching about JSA leaving Yu Jing years later and the only JSA profile they ever used was some sort of ninja. If you remove Morats from CA, there will be wailing and nashing teeth for the next 20 years.
The jawbrutes is the little doggo guy from Tag Raid? I would not expect them to fill a combat roll like the Hungries. If they do become a Morat unit I would expect them to be a G:Servant type unit, (maybe with a +3 dodge instead of Mimitism -3 to differentiate them from Slave Drones). Hungaries could just be getting a new design or new minis (the current set are pretty fiddly). I think Taigha tend to get the most attention because they are newer, but I think both versions of the Hungries provide a unique package and would be surprised if they had a significant rules redesign.
There's already an option to use the little jawbrutes in MAF as synchronized units for the Tyrok Hunter. If jawbrutes stay as a synchronized-only option, I don't mind it.
Probably. In the TAGraid the remote creatures are named Asklad. But they can use this design as Skurgot or they can make similar beast based on Asklad creature design. As DaRedOne said Skurgots are already part of MAF. The most important thing is that they have their own logo (look in the Army on the PC) and if we look at the similar CA units (Oznat + Preta, Jayth + Taiga) we can see same pattern which makes me think we will see Skurgots as solo unit. I wouldn't be surprised if Skurgots will raplace Hungries in the MAF and in the vanilla CA and that Hungries will be deleted from the game. Personally I would like to have both units, Hungries and also Skurgots.
