@HellLois sends his apologies, he's off sick and doesn't have good access to the forum. Here are a small number of interim answers from the rules team: Direct Template Weapons are left on the game table until Resolution, and then you check if the Main Target is in the Area of Effect. For Minelayer, place the Trooper and Deployable at the same time and measure from either. Sixth Sense Troopers that are shot through Zero Visibility Zones ignore the -6 MOD for responding through the resulting Poor Visibility Zone. Multispectral Visor Troopers that are shot though a White Noise Zone cannot reduce the MODs of the resulting Poor Visibility Zone. The position that a Trooper performs a Skill (for example where the Trooper shoots from) is chosen in the Resolution step, before measuring ranges. We are aware that these don't answer all the questions that players have, but you will need to have patience as HellLois doesn't know long he will be sick. CLARIFICATIONS added Thursday 3rd February: When using Minelayer, you must check the distance. The ESP FAQ text saying that it's optional hadn't been updated. For Multispectral Visors and White Noise, the Trooper can ignore the -6 MOD if some other rule allows them to, but having the Multispectral Visor won't reduce the MOD. If White Noise isn't involved, MSV1 Troopers follow all their standard rules. So if they are the target of a BS Attack they get to react through a Poor Visibility Zone, with MSV1 reducing the MOD to -3. You can choose the position of the Short Skill in the Resolution step, but Templates must still be placed on declaration.
Is Hellois 'sick' as in he has a virus or is he 'sick' as in he did a 'sick move' with regards to decision making on infinity rules that thousand of people rely on for their casual gaming experience?
Pretty certain when someone is listed as off sick then they’re genuinely Ill. You could show a little respect for another human being.
Not sure what’s funny here. Someone is unwell and you’re mocking them over rules you don’t like for a game of toy soldiers.
Good to see you back in the forums. Doesn't these two contradict one another? If a Trooper performs a BS Attack skill with a Direct Template how come the template is placed before Resolution, when the point in which the BS attack is made is chosen in Resolution?
We asked for an update on the FAQ and we got one. I think we can all be positive about the work that went into this. This is a pretty complex game and the discussions lately on the internet have shown that it can be pretty tough to figure out what to do. This is an overall positive outcome imo.
Because Template Rules say so. This had always been an exception, but in his way it is streamlined with all of the other skills
@ijw !!!!!!!!! Hurray! The interim answers and the update on timelines for more answers are both very much appreciated. It's good to see you here. I think the main outstanding issue is peripherals around a corner. (Fiddler and two Jackbots activate in total cover within the victim's ZoC and declare BS Attack. Victim must ARO and choose a target. The two units not chosen now move out and shoot, and the victim's ARO fails). Do you have any suggestions on how to play that one pending a more long-term answer from the rules team?
I’d like to know this too as I’ve seen a similar issue recently except it was against a link team and the aro was split over two of the targets not one.
Vaul said "wow, sick move, dude!" in a joking, bit convoluted way. I see you've found another target for unwarranted negative assumptions.
Ah, another white knight. How about letting people fight their own battles? On another note, Shhh, quiet @Nuada Airgetlam. Go back to sleep before you actually say something intelligent and people mistake you for having half a brain. Edit: yes, I realise this is an ad hominem. It’s as easy to perform as any other trick on the internet.
How do you pick the position for Impact Template Weapons? Are grenades not usable versus pre-emptive declarations? Or is the template for Impact placed at Resolution now?
