No, I did not accuse them of that, it was a statement of fact, silly. Stop making shit up and twisting my statements.

Oh, so now you're agreeing it's something that occurs pretty frequently in the industry?

You're hilarious, nobody in the industry frowns upon that practice. And resin will not have appreciably sharper detail than CB style spincast metal.

If only the once head painter knew better, right? :D

I literally said that and you kept objecting. Your only point was that they were not resin, because you said so.

He said they were resin at the point he mentioned that. The practice might not have extended for a long time or might have been sporadic, but it's not like I'm going to trust your word over his, when you're pretty clearly arguing in bad faith.

Are you a frequent visitor at the factory? Are you an in-house CB employee? How do you claim to know those things exactly? You keep omitting the source of your knowledge, but demand me to dig through tons of Angel vids for you.

A single proven occurence in the positive cannot prove an overall negative.

This basically says everything about the level of logic and bad faith you're applying to this conversation. I'm done

I have been to the old and the new factory several times, and have done the tour of the factory quite a few times, so yes, I would say I qualify as someone who has at least some knowledge on the subject.

You on the other hand base your entire position on "I heard Angel tell it once, in one of his videos, go find it yourself" the burden of proof is on you to find it and convince me, not me to go find it, if it exists.

    Also @Nuada Airgetlam
How can I interpret these as nothing else from you saying CB does not use models buyers will get for display purposes but superior cast in another material in order to deceive their customers about the quality of their products.

The fact that in this thread you were proven categorically wrong in what you said initially, with the air of an expert, for the very same model, has not deterred you at all.

I have found that using a sharp hobby knife has been the best for removing mold lines, but can leave some tool marks, which can become more of a noticeable problem on a rounded surface. This can be cleaned up with finer grit sand paper, (the second photo was after going over this mold line with a 240 grit sanding sponge), but unfortunately a mold line is not always located in a spot where it is practical or possible to use sand paper.

Very nice work on the cleanup here. Let’s see it when it’s finished and painted too!

The deception angle is something you've added to the interpretation of what I said. All I said, literally all, is that the reality of a box cover illustration is the most perfect model available painted the most perfect way. When I'm interested in seeing the potential imperfections which the whole freaking thread is mostly about, this gives me little to no information so it would be nice to see a mini unpainted and therefore be sure that it's uncut, unaltered and actual Siocast. If the minis painted for the boxart were 3D prints, resin casts or metal spincasts, professionally cleaned up and painted, the point would still hold. The picture would tell me nothing of use, nothing that I'd get from a picture of an unaltered Siocast model.

That's exactly what I mean about the lack of good faith you're arguing in, you constantly keep assuming the worst and most hostile interpretation of what I'm trying to convey.

I'm sorry my dude, you're the one claiming insider knowledge on the company's processes and only after months of the argument going on you've provided the post above giving at least some background for where that knowledge is supposed to be coming from.

You might even be correct, currently as well as for some years CB may not have been casting early copies in resin from the spincast master moulds. But I will still trust that when the statement was made, Angel was right. Not because it's my word or his against yours, but because the quote I recall aligns with what's usually done in the industry. Even if I'd have brought that exact Angel quote, you'd still argue he didn't know what he was talking about or something to that effect.

The fact that you're arguing in such a disparaging, hostile manner as a moderator is just a cherry on top of this shit cake of a "discussion".

Huh… no support, no further information, just a “recollection” where any support is entirely elusive, versus someone intimately acquainted with the company for an extended period of time and who has been on the premises old and new several times… hmmmm… much to ponder…

Beyond that, looks like the process is improving apace, so should be generally sorted doubleplusquickquick. Yay!

It is not what I interpret, but what other posters interpret, and the authoritative way you speak in the forums make other posters, especially those that are not frequently engaging in them, to take your words for fact.

There are posters that went away from the forum reading that statement thinking "Oh CB does not show actual models in promo pictures but models in another material that is better looking than the models we get".

You do understand there is a huge difference between "looks nice but I would rather see an unpainted, unassembled example" and "It's cool to see the painted resin master, what I'd like to see is the unpainted Siocast."?

Yes, production pictures models are (usually) well prepared and really well painted, but CB in contrast with what some other companies do, paints the production models, I did not dispute you in Angel saying he painted master models because of X factor made the model late for him to paint production model, it might have happen, but in CB master models are still metal models, hearing somebody saying CB casts resin is like hearing somebody saying the sun rises from the west.

And to be frank you see the painted bearpod is in fact in Siocast, with defects, and instead of accepting you was wrong and moving on, you insist on it, why and what for?

I didn't, since the quality was annoying yet still bearable for me. Plus, I thought it would be better to provide enough feedbacks and wait for better products, rather than to increase the burden of them.

Thank you for pointing out, I got mixed up between files and sandpaper :P

This is the problem. What you RECALL and what might have actually been said can be very different. I would have sworn blind once that a line in monty python and the holy grail went a certain way but on another viewing it was different. You’re relying on memory which is a fickle thing.

No. If you bring the video with the statement from Angel as evidence it’s much harder to argue against.

I’m sorry, but again, burden of proof is indeed upon you. Psychoticstorm has proof in the very least in the form of the message that you yourself posted that what he’s said is correct.

Please let me know the quality of the bearpode if you get one! Mine was delayed too long so I replaced it. From what I can tell from others bearpode it should be very crisp so please do post pics of yours. I’m really glad to see the improvements made by CB here on siocast, it’s really looking good.

My friend who I game with has the siocast Bearpode and the quality is excellent. Its very crisp and the equal of a metal version in my, admittedly non-exacting, opinion.
It's just weirdly light to hold!

Being a crabby old man, that’s always been the hardest thing for me, the disconnect between what I *think* these new plastic minis should weigh, and what they do weigh. It’s admittedly an entirely personal quirk/tic, but it just feels weird.

Absolutely. He put it in my hand and because I'm subconsciously expecting a large Infinity mini to have some heft to it it is slightly disconcerting when it weighs naff all.

Ah, yes. As we know, no resin is used in-house. None at all. Nuh-uh!

And the first finished "resin impression in the mold" models are totally not at all resin (cast or nowadays directly 3D printed) preproduction models sent to the painters for cover art.

Huh… using the 3D printed mini to make practice impressions in resin… until they get it the way they want, with the level of detail they want, etc., at which point they get cracking on the molds… simple enough to understand, unless you’ve dug your heels in on your hill to die on…
