Hmm… there’s a few here that could easily be the action pack. I’m inclined to say either usariadna (due to the current reboxing and as it’s still an army pack) or Aleph (as there’s a few minis to be redone especially for steel phalanx). I would love to see new NCA and Acontecimento minis as well as MRRF. They were my first Ariadna army. I think I’ll be happy with whatever the action pack is but it’s fun to speculate.
Just to show the math, The Pan-O and Yujing collections are 26 models, including Dire foes, HVT and TAG. SP army entries no longer in the store (** indicates number of models likely in a unit-box or blister) are: Acmon, Dactyls**, Thamyris, Aegma**, Thrasymedes, Diomedes, Scylla & Drakios, Ekdromoi**, Nesaie Alke, Teucer, Thorakitai****+, Ajax, Patroclus, Eudoros, Machaon, Myrmidon Officer, Penthesilea (non-bootleg), Phoenix That's 25+ missing models, not counting missing OSS units (Dasyus, Trisha, etc), possible resculpts/reboxing of old models still in the store like Myrms /spitfire Asura, or guaranteed Code1 Reboxes like the Rebots. So, copying the MO release, I could easily see a SP army pack (3 Myrmidons, Diomedes, Phoenix, Ajax, Machaon, Acmon, Myrmidon Officer) with Penthesilea special edition biker, and a later release of a new unit box, Scylla & Drakios, and blisters of Patroclus and an Ekdromoi. Meanwhile the Aleph Code1 is Thorakitai, Aegma, Nesaie, Eudoros and a couple new things in the operation & beyond box, Dactyls for the support pack, and another Aegma, Thrasymedes, Ekdromoi, and Teucer sprinkled into the booster packs with some OSS units. Thamyris is somehow the dire foe HVT that Trisha is rescuing.
The new Action Pack is a convention release so it'll get the whole month to itself along with a couple of exclusives, it's going to be something new rather than a reboxing of an N3 Army Box once the terrain packs and booklets run out (which is what happened with JSA) I'd love for it to be FRRM, they were my first Ariadna faction and I preordered their original starter. I worry that this means USARF will be on the chopping block which means buying up a lot of stuff I've never gotten around to buying. Bakunin seems unlikely as we're in the Nomad C1 release phase and there are several very needed Corregidor sculpts like Morans, Carlotta, to be done first. QK seems like a good option as you'd only need a very limited set of SKUs for the revamp as it's pulling from NA2 and Nomads a lot. Good excuse for a rules refresh on the Iguana too! Could also see them coming as part of Operation: Flesh and Steel* Steel Phallus doesn't feel likely to me if only because they went discontinued so recently, I'm sure it'd have some cracking sculpts in it though. They could also be the other part of Operation: Flesh and Steel PanO got an action pack last year, and Kaldstrøm the year before that, so NCA and SAA are good options if we're keeping the "Adepticon is when PanO get new shiny things" theme :P ISS would be cool, not for me, but still cool. Morats have a solid set of CAD sculpts and a consistent aesthetic that still holds up really well today. Other than a Taryot, Zerats, Anyat, and Hungries I don't think they need an Action Pack. I don't see an Onyx Action Pack for similar reasons. *My totally made up and unofficial name for a Haqq vs Aleph box
Aleph and Haq are out, because they are the only two main factions, that are not in Code One, so they are the best candidates for the 2022 two player Battle Pack. My guess is Imperial Service, but they are in no need of line-troops, Celstial Guards had already a remake. But Baos are in dire need of new sculpts and new rules. Crane with Multi is still N2 sculpt (or early N3). Some fance new unit - whatever it may be - a Combi Pheasant (Madtraps) and the Zhanying HMG (not that we need it so much) is still missing (they could use a rules update also). Two weapon profiles of the Wu Ming could use an resculpt (half of the old box) and of course we need a fresh Sun Tze. ABH with SMG/AC makes a nice bonus mini. My second guess would be Bakunin, fresh Custodier, Moira, 3rd Kusanagi (Multi - she has to keep up to Joan), Prowlers, Zeros, Überfall, Riot Spitfire, Moderators (if the current starter will discontinued) - and the Lizard, but I doubt that it will be in the AP - many models to refresh here.
Oh please no. I hope that is not the case. Their discontinuation will cause a run on their minis. It would be NCA & Acon all over again. The new Code One box would be Hassassins and perhaps a new Steel Phalanx since O.S.S.S. has an action pack already.
Ok then if this is not the Kaldstrom collections but those might still come out, then I'm going to say Nomads, of some sort (likely Bakunin). 2021 had Nomads, PanO, Ariadna as the top 3 releases due to MO Action Pack and Crimson Stone. Haqq and Aleph the least. I think Nomads and PanO will go down in the cycle and Haqq/Aleph go to the top with a Battle box. While Nomads go down the list they are not at bottom. It could be PanO again but since they just came out with the MO, I don't think so. Also contenders are Ariadna and O-12. However O-12 would need a new sectoral for that to happen. They already have at least one figure for everything. It could be new FRRM or CHA but lets face it, Nomads sell. So if I go off what I think the cycle is: Kaldstrom Re-pack Action Packs Yu Jing and PanO (Nothing new here) Adepticon Action Pack: Nomads Gencon: Operation Battle Pack: Aleph and Haqqislam 2021 New figure Releases Nomads 7 Releases, 23 figures PanO 7 Releases, 21 figures Ariadna 6 Releases, 15 figures O-12 7 Releases, 14 Figures NA2 9 Releases, 13 Figures Combined Army 5 Releases, 12 Figures Yu Jing 4 Releases, 10 figures Haqqislam 2 Releases, 2 figures Aleph 2 Releases, 2 Figures 2022 Haqqislam (QK or new Sectoral?) Aleph (Steel Phalanx revised?) Nomads PanO Ariadna O-12 NA2 Combined Army Yu Jing 2023 Combined Army Yu Jing (guessing: Revised ISS or New sectoral) Haqqislam Aleph Nomads PanO Ariadna O-12 NA2 Edit: I can now add in 2020 2020 O-12 8 Releases, 24 Figures Combined Army 9 Releases, 16 Figures Yu Jing 7 Releases, 12 Figures Ariadna 3 Releases, 12 Figures NA2 7 Releases, 12 Figures Aleph 1 Releases, 10 Figures PanO 5 Releases, 9 Figures Nomads 3 Releases, 6 Figures Haqqislam 2 Releases, 2 Figures Wow 2020 and 2021 were not kind to Haqqislam for new figures.
Kaldstrøm action packs are already on the slate for February, this is the new Adepticon Action Pack that'll be possibly May, but most likely an April release.
I actually cannot tell if you’re being sarcastic or hopeful here. Which, to be fair, isn’t easy. Well done. Edit: If all the tohaa come out this year now I will quote you as calling it. Also, will possibly accuse you of sorcery, but only because there’d be a deluge of tohaa…
Hmm, wonder if this means that Morats are getting redone, or if Morats are being moved out of production to free up catalogue space for the new thing.
That is a good point as they are in a Dire need of a starter set. QK probably only needs a few minor tweaks and I would love Blue coats to be added (would be quite Fluffy). If it is an MAF action pack that would be pretty neat.
Wondering exactly the same. But very interesting. EDIT: After taking a second look, I'm very certain it won't be a revamp. Judging from what they did with MO, discontinuing the whole line doesn't make sense if they just wanted to update it. They would have kept all the new sculpts and updated only the old ones. It's what they did with MO as well. Otherwise they would, starting April, have to release new miniatures for every unit. The fact that the Raicho is the only thing that's staying confirms this imo, since he's the only thing needed for TAG Raid.
And Morats are popular as well. I'd be shocked to see them discontinued even for a short time. Still this makes me a bit worried just in case. I think picking up the few Morat models I have left to get would be a smart idea. Kurgats being one of them.
Some of the models are going to stay in the retail chain for a number of years after being discontinued by CB, or at least that's how it was in previous instances. Also, "being popular" (with existing player base) and "selling well" (to new buyers) are not necessarily the same. That being said, I'm pretty curious what CB are up to in that case!
Steel Phalanx was also popular, and got axed (but is the last going OoP and the first to return) I dont think QK will return because bring back two OoP sectorials at the same time is hard to believe
On the other hand, IIRC Bostria asked the community at some point whether they'd prefer the next Haqq sectorial to be Gabqar, or redone QK, and there was way more support for QK. Not that I can prove it, of course :P
