Not telling you what to do, I said it was your hobby, you can enjoy it how you want. If you only want to work with metal miniatures, that’s fine. The statement you made about why you won’t be purchasing the bearpode is what I took issue with since you do seem willing to do the work especially when it comes to metal minis. If you’d said “I’m not buying the bearpode because I don’t like how it looks” or anything that didn’t have to do with having to clean it up, I’d not have said anything. If you don’t want to buy any siocast because it’s not up to the standard of Corvus Belli metals, I’d want to know why as some of the metals require just as much work.
Don't want to be an ass, but what you wrote here is huge BS mate. Between "too much work" and "don't want to do any work to get your mini looking good" is an ocean wide gap. One can definitely not want to put TOO MUCH work, but be willing to put some work in. For what it's worth I am exactly such a person. I go through minis like Sonic on steroids. This is how I like to do the hobby. Shitcast is something that stops me dead because "too much work" required to make minis look up to my standards, which BTW aren't very high. With quantity of minis I go through every year I cannot be accused of being lazy or not willing to put any work. Your argument seem to come from a position of superiority and is invalid AF.

If I was going to argue from a position of superiority I’d take an appropriate tone. Like yours. There is no such thing as too much work when you want to get your miniature looking good. The amount of work on the bearpode is the same as the metal miniatures. If you don’t want to put in the work (whichever amount) then that’s up to you but I don’t accept it as a reason for not wanting to buy a mini. If that’s a superior attitude then you can take it as such. I don’t much care.

Listen mate: Just because (you seem to) you believe in unlimited effort ceiling and that it is worth to overinvest into miniature "looking good" - which is by itself a totally subjective thing, doesn't mean everyone else treats painting tiny toy soldiers the same way. Telling someone that "flash, poor moulding and even resculpting when necessary" is not a reason not to buy a particular material made miniature because every "Every Wargamer/miniature collector has had to deal with" is like telling someone wobbly bottles that tend to spill paint is not a reason not to buy into a particular line of paints. It is just matter of preferences, and yours are just that - yours.
Umm... wobbly bottles that spill paint would be almost every paint... and you should buy them as needed. There are tools available for almost nothing to prevent the paint from spilling. I put no words in their mouth. I never made the claim that they put and put stated something. (else I would have quoted). I inferred from what they had said. Back on topic: What’s the next siocast mini due out? I thought the bearpode was December but I clearly have the release schedule mixed up since it’s out already.

Well I am glad to see that the Bear has been a bit of an improvement over the Vostok from what I've seen on this forum alone. Sure, like most every model I own, I could nitpick from the images presented, but the Bear is not the worst I've seen by any means. Fur has always been a terrible place for a mould line - especially the face/head in such a way that it's so very visible. Does anybody have images of the Zond Remotes that have gotten into the general public hands yet please?
Has anyone found tools that are more or less customized, or even customizable, for cleaning SioCast? Or has anyone home-brewed tools? Whatever a given person thinks of the material, it along with various other sorts of plastics and resins are going to replace metal. It would be nice if specialty tools were available that were fit for the task. When do we see the TAGs in SioCast? That's to be announced next year? I have much curiosity to see the Maghariba Guard in the material.
None of the existing TAG sculpts will be siocast. Any of them that go OOP or get resculpts will probably get done in it, though. Way too soon to do a resculpt of scorps mag in siocast, or cutter in siocast though - let alone the Lay-down-some-cover-fire Szally or zeta.
From what I've seen a nice sharp knife (maybe one you keep just for Siocast so you're not blunting it on metal minis) and a set of high grit sanding sticks are you best options.
Yes, sharp knives, but certain blade shapes are better than others with similar materials. (Bonesium and pvc). Iris scissors have proven somewhat useful to me, but scissors with very sharp tips and short blades would work a charm for certain cleaning tasks. Maybe there are medical tools. I already have multiple scalpels, forceps and hemostats. Thank you for the clarification Fari & Chromedog. I thought all the metal TAGs were going oop and then reissued in SioCast. Now looking forward to seeing the eventual resculpts, coming soontm mañana eventually etc.
Not really being sarcastic, I know failcast was terrible at the start and certain areas of the world received a large amount of bad sculpts (and in certain hotter areas of the world the minis just warped) but I’ve honestly never had a bad citadel finecast mini though I have seen many. I never really bought much of it though as my friend was a GW staffer at the time metal was going out and we just bulk ordered everything around 3 times with his discount, so my experience of it is likely different to those who bought far more of it. The point I was trying to make here is that though people may get upset at the change that’s occurring, the quality of the miniatures in the new medium will improve and this has been true across all wargames miniature companies.
