It's just more evidence for the mistake theory. They accidently did a Combi instead of Breaker and couldn't go back and fix it. They probably went all the way to molds being made before they noticed it. Then because it so late they came up with that poor excuse.
I just realized she has a regular combi. For some reason, I just assumed her gun was a breaker combi and never noticed otherwise for the longest time. Nothing huge here, one way or another, I won't be using her anyway. I just find it odd that I had that expectation.
Most thought that was the case in the beginning since the only profiles the tinbot comes with is Breaker or BSG. You know what's even more funny/sad? Is that the Tinbot doesn't go with the Combi So-Ra either. So that tinbot in the box doesn't go with any Jujak! Unless you proxy of course.
Excuse me. That tinbot was designed as a quality proxy for a Wu Ming tinbot. Please stop complaining and get on Gutier's galaxy brain level that's clearly what the tinbot was intended for.
Really? I could have sworn it was mean to be a proxy for Madtraps. They obviously know we have six profiles that can take them but know they are not available to most. That's got to be it right?
But it has the Jujak logo on its shield ... but anyway if we get a Wu Ming Tinbot (which is highly demanded) we have two pair madtraps ready :-) Its a bit of a shame, to give the customers a box (which cost over 40,- €) with a tinbot, that none of the three minis its comes with (and for) can use it, unless you proxy the unit profile with with the in box character (and try to sell it, as a feature in their blog) that is poor planing or just carless. But, dear CB product designers, that error can be corrected: Simply rewrite the profiles! And while you are on it, rework the fireteam options for the Jujaks and give them at least haris - so we can use the contend of the box together!
I just don't understand why they end up writing the profiles like they do. There is so much scope to make a combi rifle +HFT character interesting. Writing in a shock marksman rifle isn't. It also triggers my other bugbear. Why does White banner lack so much AP and or other weaponry designed for trading up. In the fluff they specifically meant to deal with a logistically better supplied, technological superior force. Yet, Jotum is still a nightmare for white banner to build a list for.
Well that's what happens when you're dumb and use WB models instead of just using IA models and cackling BRRRRRRT as you push a Shang Ji down that Jotum's throat.
Not that this makes up for the tinbot, but the Jujak from Kaldstorm can use it. I would have much rather had that BSG Jujak though. Weirdly enough I think I may be using So-Ra in a Haris at an upcoming tournament, hopefully the E/M mines catch someone by surprise.
As a proxy yes. The Tinbot only comes with the Breaker or BSG. the Kaldstrom one is Combi. So that Tibot doesn't work with any of them.
If it had a Wu Ming logo it wouldn't be a proxy and that would be outside of galaxy brain Gutier's design space for Yu Jing.
So now that the JJ are actually out, has anyone actually tried So-Ra? I'll freely admit that many times what looks good/bad on paper can be different on the board. I'd like to be wrong in thinking she's meh to bad and I'm missing something.
I haven't found a situation where a Jujak link in my list in the first place will add anything of value over alternatives, so I'm not even getting far enough for So-Ra to even enter the equation.
One Shang Ji and 4 Jujak ? I have not tried White banner on the table yet, but they seem to be geared toward been Shang Ji support.
That seems to be the crux of the problem. Great models but no use for them by themselves as a linkteam. Good point. That does seem like a bad mistake on CB's part. We should have gotten the Boarding Shotgun model instead of So-Ra or at least make her the Boarding Shotgun model. Therefore providing the last loadout and perhaps give So-Ra some unique difference between the normal Boarding Shotgun Jujak. That would have been better in my eyes at least. They, the Shang Ji, are the wildcard-in-any-fireteam troopers of the sectorial so your statement would seem to be correct. I wonder if/when you do play White Banner you give us your opinion on the Jujak unit & So-Ra if possible?
The issue here is the shang-ji is both the glue for that fireteam but also the best pointman. Hence one or two bad FtF and the big stack of points is now 4 basic heavy infantry without any bonii because jujak don't even get number 2 like their zuyong compatriots. This is why I think IA is still a much better sectorial for 'pain train' style links. The fact jujak aren't even wildcard or can at least join a cheap-midrange link just makes them positively archaic in N4's linkteam flexibility.
Shang-jis are also the ones packing most of the goodies you might want in your HI core, like a paramedic, a hacker to make the most of your tinbot, or some tactical awareness orders. Jujiaks only bring alternative weaponry (spitfire vs AP HMG / ML vs HRL) and most importantly the mandatory engineer. Flamer is a nice bonus, but it's just that, a bonus.
Which is ironic since they are Veteran Troops and SJ are Line troops. I thought they would be great too but by the time you have your Shang Ji and add JJ, you don't have much left for the rest of force. Both in points and SWC. You'll never be able to have a core and haris in one list. Especially since the only choices are more SJ+JJ or Ye Mao (also expensive). Also for some reason, on their supposed home planet, JJ are limited to AVA4. If they weren't tied to SJ, AVA5, make a core/haris on their own, and had more specialists, they would be okay. At least comparable to Zuyong.
I see, I do want to try them as duo and haris options with Shang Ji, but I understand the issues for 1+4.
