So the AC2s and Heating Units have Automatic Defense System now, good

Every Heating Unit is equipped with an ADS to avoid tampering with the life-saving heat system. Any CC Attack made against the Heating Unit will be a Face to Face Roll, even if the Berserk Special Skill is used. No MODs can be applied to the CC Attack. If the Face to Face Roll is failed by the attacker, they suffer a Stun Ammunition hit, forcing them to make two Saving Rolls against BTS, with Damage 15. The Immunity (Total) Special Skill is not effective against this hit.

The problem is, that you can still hit them without using CC attack on D-Charge, without any rolls, through Deployable Weapon mode

The Heating Units can only be damaged by CC Attacks with CC Weapons possessing the Anti-materiel Trait or with D-Charges.

In that case, ADS is not triggered since it is not a CC Attack if we are going by RAW.

Which makes it mostly useless since D-Charge is what people have been using since start of N4 as the best CC weapon and a way to do that objective without bothering with rolls on sub 20 CC units.

Hopefully there will be a specific clarification that ADS triggers on D-Charge placement just the same.
    Or is it intended?

(also please fix the typo in Looting in Sabotaging, it lists Heating Unit in ADS box)

Arguably, the rules say that "any attack ... will be a face to face roll" and Place Deployable is an attack, so placing the D-charge will auto-lose the face to face by virtue of not being able to roll 9 or more

Yes, Place Deployable is an attack
But ADS rule says only CC Attack which as a specific short skill distinct from Place Deployable

There are a few units that like to hit it with non-D-Charge CCWs, especially with Berserk. Liang Kai, McMurrough, Blue Wolf, etc. I don't mind that they have a chance to fail now. Being able to Dodge into position for the Berserk, it felt a bit like an auto-score previously.

I assumed that "Fixed CC 8" means the AC2 always rolls an 8, like the old Electric Pulse. So a CC23 unit has a 25% chance to fail and a 20% chance to eat Stun saves.

I suppose it also reduces the effectiveness of troopers using the Gang Up bonus to place multiple D-Charges per order. My plan to try a fireteam of Muyibs in L&S just lost some of its appeal. Otoh, if one of them fails and gets stunned, it will still provide the burst bonus to one of the other ones.

Nah, it isn't a good thing. More randomness in interacting with the AC2s and Heating Units is a bad thing.

I'm really wondering if whoever added this rule to those missions plays ITS.

Like, RAW placing D-Charges circumvents this, but I'm fully expecting it to be clarified in whichever way makes these missions needlessly random and unfun to play.

Really? Was that what WarCors were thinking when they were previewing these rules?

And USARF continues to slide even farther towards just not being able to do the objective...

This doesn't affect USARF that much until they make D-Charges unusable. Your options are still Rosie, Dozer, or UKR.

Yeah but UKR now has a chance to get stunned, since he has to FtF with a 23 vs. 8.

Granted, they aren't ARM/BTS 9 anymore, so I think it's overall a net buff, but they really do need to do something about USARF being able to blow up servers.

To be fair, I fully expect them to try to clarify this to make D-Charges unusable.
