Whole reason I have a nomads army was to make use of obsolete or replaced models. Would highly recommend doing the same either with Nomads or with one of the NA2 factions
Didn't you guys get CB to sign the contract saying they are indebted to you after your $15 purchase as well?
My "O-12" army was made up of surplus minis and "discontinued" models for other factions for the most part. Old fusiliers from N1/N2, old ORC models, OOP Haqq figures, etc. Ploughshares back into swords, so to speak. I didn't get into most of the armies that were "discontinued" to start with. Most of them just didn't appeal to me from the get-go. I do have 2 MO knights, despite not playing nor having interest in MO. One became a black friar for my nca, one became a santiago (I think) for my O-12/starwhatsit. Others that I have yet to find a purpose for stay in the orphans box until I find a purpose. The orphans box is also where my "Reality's Edge" figures are sourced from, and where my stash of "cyberpunk" figures were kept. After 5+ years, the metal figures - if they haven't been given a new life in another game, go into my crucible. Where they get melted down and recast into widgets I will use elsewhere as ballast on unbalanced miniatures.
I don't recall saying I was "enthusiastic" about having models 'invalidated'. Just about not being perturbed about it. There is a huge gulf betwixt those things and I've never been an "all or nothing" thinker. Change is inevitable. Losing 2 models out of about 150 to a rules change? A mere peccadillo. It's not like I was playing "S*uats" or "I*on W*rriors" (lol). Besides, "Models" are NEVER invalidated, only their rules are. They remain as models to be used in other things. They do not cease to be and fade into the aether when their rules go bye-bye.
It was bought under the expectation of its rules. So its lost its value of its rules are invalidated. There's a reason minis games sell more minis than merely nice-looking minis.
And there are always plenty of uses available for them, especially in light of the generous proxy rules for ITS. If a player can't find a use for and continue to get enjoyment out of an "invalidated" mini, that's more on the player than CB.
You're asking a question that fails to address the issue. These models are bought with the understanding that there's rules to represent them in a game. When those rules are invalidated, part of the purchase is invalidated.
