Okay, since we are making stuff up while waiting for news, might as well... So, if we absolutely need an ubermensch AD trooper, having one with MOV 6-2 can be unique. On some tables it will definitely come into play, and it will not compete too much with Ragik in vanilla. May or may not require Multiterrain. It may or may not be cool to throw Hyper-dynamics L1 on it. Possibly as either/or skill with the former. Another AD idea that is so in plain sight that it leaves me wonder if it's on purpose that it's not done yet. Like AD with regeneration (for those salty about QK stealing some part of super-soldier theme) or at least with auto-medikit. Maybe AD Zhayedan profile? In latter case it shouldn't probably be on a MMS2 profile, but it will still work in a sorta unique way. Also could allow for some link shenanigans like having link reinforcements suitable for missions that require you to be mobile with your links (assuming there will be suitable options) and thus eventually be in position to join up pieces.
I mean in terms of pure speculation, im fine just listing rules or just types of stuff id like to see. Mainly id like to see at least 3 of the new 6 units be supersoldiers. Id like a fast stealth one with weird mov characteristics like 4-6, Id like to see total immunity, Natural born warrior, and/or Protheion on some beastly combat tank unit. Another msv2 option, and perhaps some supersoldier at shooting? Also to see a unit thats not a rem with sensor and sat lock for triangulated fire purposes would be really cool. Thats really all ive got now, but im sure theres other combos id love.
Warming up this thread with an idea that came to me last night. A full grown TAG buster Maghriba Guard. A Maggie loadout with Feuerbach, Full Auto L1, Twin Heavy Pistols. I would make it 80 points and 2.5 SWC for the beginnig. This loadout seems so exciting to me, I have to try it out, as soon as possible. I like your thinking. Your ideas are quite close to what I like to see. Especially the 4-6 Mov thing. But to make it really stand out, it should be 4-8. Otherwise 6-4 would be always better. Regenration on an AD unit would make it hellish expensive. We are talking about 8 points more. Its cool, but on itsef hard to make it worthwhile. Hyper Dynamics would work and especially help out profiles which cannot go into Suppression to drain orders or even stay alive.
I like seeing that you brought back this thread, and i think i have a good topic to bring up. So with the leaks of the new JSA units and their somewhat heavy handed influences, what media do you guys think they might draw from in the design of new Haqq troops for Rama, if any at all?
You mean concerning famous references? In that case, I have no idea. Do we even have some in Haqq yet?
Well, you've put it quite well in that CB are very heavy-handed about it recently. As such, I'd rather prefer them just sticking to variations of starter designs and go from there.
Just gonna throw this little premonition out there, but i had a dream last night that a new HI dossier was revealer for haqqislam. The colors were mostly tan, brown, green, and gold. It look a lot like their older HI designs from the past, like the old mobile brigada, but updated for this edition. It looked big for an HI but not S5 and it had lots of ornate patterns in gold, and it looked kinda buff if that makes sense. Like blood angels sanguinary guard without being literal ab and pec plates. I should get someone better than me to draw this up. Unless Bostria already has (twilight zone theme plays).
So a ARM4 HI Supersoldier? Maybe Bostria lets slip something through during JSA week...but he doesnt do that this much, these days.
I mean, he still could. But yeah something like an arm4 hi, bts 6. The unit looked like it was beefy as hell. Maybe the closest thing infinity can get to a space marine. Also a cool fluff piece is it could be a joint venture with the nomads. Haqq provides the super soldier and biotech, while nomads provide the suit and other weapons systems. Kind of a way to keep each other from making these monsters on their own, to ensure neither will be betrayed, and the unit is used to defend from Aleph attempting any subterfuge during the weakening of the main powers. So the unit can be in both Rama and Tugunska, but with slightly different visuals and equipment based on which army varient is used. Like tugunska one gets deflector, while Rama gets automedkit. Stuff like that would be really cool.
Yeah, such a joint unit would be interesting and fits the loose alliance with the nomads. In real world terms I have come to like profiles which can be used in different factions. With QK you can branch out to Corregidor and if you have a box of Druze you can play their sectorial as well, with minimal money to spend on other miniatures.
I wonder what fluff stories are going to introduce RTF. With JSA and the new Yu Jing sectorial tied into Uprising and Varuna linked to Asheron falls, what kind of narrative development would introduce Ramah?
Bostria spoke about 4 new armies in 2018 excluding new mercs. corps., including new JSA... so 3 more to come... maybe even RTF will be among them
I wouldn't find that unlikely. They got a starter set a while ago (the O:RV Haqq Starter), there's the updated Tarik Mansuri, the other Al'fasid, new Touaregs, the redone Maghariba... quite a bunch of Caliphate troops are out in N3 standard already. Seems all the troops that were there for RTF have up-to-date, N3-era sculpts (if not every loadout possible, but hey), save for the REMs. It is QK and HB who still have some 2ed and even 1ed sculpts.
I would love this personally if for nothing else than to tie Haqq to its allies more on the table AND fluff.
Is this for sure, by the way? On topic: I'm really waiting for Ramah to come out this year. I know it's not guaranteed, but likely. Would be disappointing, especially since I'm buying Ramah models left and right these days :D
It is sure, Bostria said so yesterday. I myself cant wait to finally play Ramah but I am scared at the same time, that it could be a huge disappointment for me, because the Supersoldiers arent that super in the end. Well, if so there is still the Khanate:-D
Bostria said in one of the Beasts of War videos that there are 4 more sectorials this year, there was no confirmation the RTF would be among them.
Existing khanate units give quite fun impression so far. There are too few of them to make anything out of it all. Will expect them in the next decade. Still, seeing that CB are pretty bold with link design these days, existing profiles in a sectorial sound exciting. Halqas are self-explanatory, although a bit weird en masse. Kums... Will we see a biker link one day? That can be unwieldy as hell and requiring specific tables to work, but also could solve some issues with bikes. Can potentially be rather disgusting, in fact, all things considering. Also, in this vein. Just for fun and because lore: Special Haris: Kasym Beg + Zamira + Zuleyka. (Yes, I'm aware of irregular nature of Kum; don't rain on my parade)
