CB has made some missteps definitely. My biggest complaints is exclusive miniatures. Yeah they may release a general release later, but some how it is never quite as good. ( See O-yori pilot, or Joan of Arc. ) However I see their blunders primarily stemming from being passionate creative artist, that happen to be amateurs at business. In an ideal world, they would get everything right, but this is definitely not an ideal world, and I will take a creative artist/amateur businessman over an amateur artist/professional businessman any day. The JSA split personally leaves me with two incomplete halves of an army. I am still positive on the experience, because JSA never really seemed to fit with Yu Jing. I am hoping that CB takes advantage of this painful brake to get both armies into a better state. That may take time, but I am willing to give them some time. ( But not too much! )
General release Joan would have been better than the limited had it not come packaged with a tactical Umbra...
You mean, they decided to not piss off their customers with napalm instead of kerosene? Incidentally, they opened that door to everyone, not "YJ players". As for the Aragotos... the answer that has been given to YJ complainers has been "you weren't using them anyway". Incidentally, chech the store, the Aragotos are no longer there, so assume resculpt, probably with the same bike as the Kuroshi. Because when CB Killed Tony Cayana in a totally "the plot demands it, we don't care if it's illogical at all levels for her to totally die. We will even place that she is truly dead in a FAQ" they upgraded all the TAGs of her kind to Tony. So, for YJ they should have upgraded all Tiger Soldiers to Ko-Dali levels. They did no such thing. I double dare you to have your favourite books collection (if you have a physical one, that is) with each book in a different size so it looks like a roller coaster and say "it looks good man!". And be aware that even if you are able to, a lot of us don't. And it's our house. Because it was sooo great to play Sisters of Battle a few years ago... And at least Shasvastii have been announced to be renewed. Merovingia has been forsaken until whenever they feel like adding some Fireteam options, which is the only thing people asks. Yeah, they look soo good, they use the same base model for several, different units. And if 3D is soooo good... why is CB selling the old ninjas in a double blister while they have the new one from Red Veil, or the Moran (which were announced into a repack for months ago) when in fact people ends buying them just for the koalas? And since you think your preferences are universal, I'll give you a surprise: I finde the new models overcharged with detail. Great for pro painters, but some of us want to play with something normal, not some kind of wonders of the miniaturization or models that weren't even primed. The books have preference over the Army, thus they need to update the profile PDF's aswell. Anyway, more reason for the game to be alive and not overcharge for books half-filled with profiles that are on the web anyway. Don't even get me started, there are rules that are different between the english and spanish rulebook. Plus parts inside the books contradict each other. Endorsed by CB, made by a company who launched several more Kickstarter while "developing" the game, then one backer did not received all what he had paid for and another had to demand for the drawing of his character to be drawn with teeth in his lower jaw. Oh, and "supervised" so good the Nomad's servitor (3 pts) give nightmares to the Avatar. So, he has to endure whatever you feel entitled to throw his way? So mature! So good! So human! Add the Shikami released as a YJ release a few months back despite already knowing they would go out. That makes two of the same kind, and before you say something about "the miniature is there", there is at least one guy who paid to have it pro-painted on official YJ colors. You know, telling people to endure when lashing against them because you thing they are some sort of children... then you would be a failure as the adult you pretend to be.
Okay, full context: The Exrah did not sell because the minis did not appeal to the customer. (Some of the profiles did.) Poor sales, that is CB's fault, not the customer's. Design direction is also CB's responsibility, not the customer's. The onus is on the company to offer the customers appealing products. It is not on the customer to buy unappealing products. Implying that the customer is at fault somehow, which he did, is risible, and more than a bit jejune. CB could have easily included a PDF of legacy profiles too, for use in friendly games only with one's opponent's permission. And included the adviso that the minis are OOP and will not go back into production. Adepticon is in 2 weeks, so I expect we'll hear something more then, releases for the next few months if nothing else, unless tomorrow's BoW video contains something. A teaser for the forthcoming IA would do wonders to be sure. ¿Me escucháis, O poderes que sean?
We call it the Trumbra, because it's trying to grab some, y'know... Also, people need to paint its flesh orange.
Are they doing a video tomorrow. Usually the BoW weeks only have a friday video if it's part 2 of the battle report.
I know that feel bro. I can only watch games being played when someone knows way more than I do about the game. If they are bad at it or are doing it blind I just can't watch.
While watching a full game is a demanding time investment, and there is a LOT of bad content out there, I find some gameplay videos can be good to keep half an eye on while doing something like painting or terrain-building... but perhaps part of the appeal is seeing someone from the company that makes the game make a rules error on occasion, letting me say "good, its not just me."
The only ones I watch are GMG from time to time. Atleast I don`t get asleep watching them and table and armies look nice. The do mistakes sometimes though.
You know truly well that the point of Ko Dali's change was to eliminate 4 light flame throwers tactical jumping on the enemy deployment zone. Ko dali was favourite not for her amazing fluff or her been the poster girl for Yu Jing, it was her amazing combo of bringing tigers (usually with light flame throwers) and herself to the enemy deployment zone. Now they could have killed her in the background or change her rules and make her something else, they chose to make her the first Propaganda human for the combined, a nice sendoff for a problematic unit entry.
Yeah, some mistakes, some could be game changers, but they mostly seem to be having fun and they are enjoyable to watch. Their videos have shown me how playing the long odds can win more than they should, along with what tactic can almost always work, even when prepared against.
Ko Dali was a favorite because she was the only freakin Chinese character we had... can someone believe it's been like 10 years of Infinity and we still don't have a Chinese character? Or any human character now for that matter
LOL, what? Are you not counting the most well known Chinese general of all time? You have Xi Zhuang as well.
And it would help for folks to realize the CB will do what they think is best for their game, regardless of outside thoughts on the matter. Do they look at how folks might (over)react? Certainly. However, if according to the criteria CB has set for themselves and maintaining a healthy livelihood, they'll make the decisions.
