The troublesome part of C+ Warbands is it's relatively easy to advance and hide in hard to get places. When you make them multiwound ARM5 with TI the issue compounds very quickly into making it extremely difficult to bring high burst weapons, or any weapons at all, to bear on them without trading extremely poorly in their favour by getting smacked in the face by DTWs or just watching them disappear in a poof of PH massive smoke to totally waste your time.
I am not denying the effectiveness of the bearpode, just saying whenever I fight any of the werewolf beasts they always seem to die to the weakest thing possible. Ye Maos do seem alright at taking on a Bearpode, which is cool.
The wolves are alot easier to get at to actually bring down. Used by a good player, the Pedobear is significantly harder to actually get to attack because of how much easier it is to hide without being forced into awful trades and awful order efficiency. It also carries more ARM than the various dogs.
Not to mention that the regular version is about as Durable as Sun Tze for a little over a third of the cost. Apples and oranges, but holy shit, that can be one of the toughest nuts to crack in the game.
Returning to So-ra and Jujaks. So-ra is dreadfully short on wow-factor, but it's not a bad profile as such. As a character it's terrible because what we expect from characters is that they're transformative. Hence why Lei Gong and Xi are/were welcome and why So-ra and CAdil are received mildly. Not bad, but far from transformative. So-ra's profile could easily form the basis for a new heavy infantry unit, however. It breaks the similarity of Zuyong/Jujak/Wu Ming sufficiently without getting into the stuff that are Crane/Shang-Ji/Hsien. Needs an HMG profile (38pts without mines), and a Hacker profile (37 points based on Breaker profile) and appropriate LT dupes. Possibly something a bit more spicy like an FO+Minelayer (35 pts based on Breaker) and NCO or TacAware somewhere (preferably not on the HMG profile). Maybe even something so spicy that they have more unusual weapons like a multi sniper for range supremacy instead of HMG. This is good enough to replace the Shang-Ji in my opinion.
That's the thing to me. She's not bad but she's not great either. Though I'd say being tied to a Shang Ji in a core team is bad. She costs as much as a Spitfire Jujak with almost the same effectiveness. I'm not sure if the BS14 makes up for the loss of 1 Burst. It's like they took the spitfire version and just shuffled things around to keep the cost the same.
Yeah another gun when we really need more specialists. I've haven't found as much need more for more guns. But good reliable specialists I do need. Sure she can do some more Secret Objectives being a character but I'd like a little more than that. The Jujak ENG is only ok, Shang Ji too expensive, and Tian Gou is very squishy and can slow them down. Yeah Yeah I know. Guilang. They are good but I can't afford more than one if taking a JJ+SJ core. Well I can but they usually the very first target my opponent goes for knowing once they are down, it's going to be very hard for me to accomplish anything.
Eh.... assuming I was running Spitfire Jujaks in the first place. I haven't figured out a way to include them even at 8SWC without it feeling like a waste of time. I really have a hard time justifying them over not just running Shang Ji who come with a better point to order ratio on two different pointman profiles. I mean shit I have a really hard time in general justifying any Jujak hitting the table in WB, but even more so for the Spitfire profile.
I agree that the Spitfire Jujak is chiefly a means to introduce a light handicap into a list, but I think that if you can find a role for Jujak to play, there is a possibility to find a role for So-ra unlike the Spitfire Jujak.

Stick her in an attack Haris and send the team after whatever enemy TAG or HI formation you’re eyeballing, and do the corner mine trick with her placing the mine and a different Haris member popping out to shoot on the next order, depending on what you’re up against. In an edition where HI and TAGs are more common, linkable E/M mines are niche but could come in handy. Or whine on the forums, that’s a productive approach too.
I actually considered this, it's ass at 300 points though. If you play it as Haris+Skirmisher spam to leverage WB's strengths it synergises like shit with the Guilangs, Shang Ji+Ye Mao is better suited to working with that and frankly Vanilla is just does this shit better with a wider skirmisher roster and FD Krit and other things giving back NCO and all the good strong shit like Hac tao. If you go Vanilla for this game play you're never gonna consider So-Ra either. Otherwise If you go Haris+Core you wind up playing strictly worse IA, so it's not worth it. Meanwhile it's actually fine at 400 if still bland as fuck and annoying So-Ra can't put her own Jujak links together. The extra points lets you get enough WB's other stuff in to actually justify it as something other than just shittier version Invincibles or Vanilla. But I mean as much as I prefer 400 points as a format, who actually plays that regularly outside of my meta?
I guess we'll see soon if she can make Jujak form a team on their own. If she's must have a Shang Ji, I'll probably never take her. Right now it's too much of a challenge to just take Jujak in WB at all. White Company is better but it will be about 2 max.
What else is updating besides adding her? We already saw profiles so I have no idea what they are waiting for.
I am wishing for the expected Fireteam changes, but who knows. I thought it was stupid too, two updates within 30 days, but there may be a reason we don´t know besides adding So-Ra. If I recall correctly that update schedule was given by Bostria at the Freak Wars talk.
