I am moderately looking forward to Kosmoflot, but like many others, I wish CB would have just tweaked CHA a bit and re-released MRRF with a bunch of new releases. I love the new Mirage 5 and Chasseur and would really like to see the cool capes and visors of the Loup-Garous redone. I miss the unique look of many of the MRRF units.
I feel ya. Always liked the look and feel of the MRRF models. I do hope, when they get around to remaking them, they keep some of the old designs. Loup-Garous, Metros and Zouaves all had really neat designs IMO. I do hope we get a complete redesign for Moblots though. Both in design and function. They were always kind of bad models and they never seemed to do much that other HI didn't do. Personally, I kind of hope they get some kind of unique role. Like, maybe, Forward Deployment or Hidden Deployment options.
I love Kosmoflot as a concept but I was hoping for more new units. Or much more radical resculpts on the new units. They did a good job on the paracommando. But I think they dropped the ball super hard on the SAS, who could've at least sold the concept better by to wearing their cookr redesigned gasmask on their face and not their fucking elbow. Instead they put the gasmask on the visual disaster of the Zenit. MRRF is gonna be out for a long time. I'm not really sure I want them back or updated. But when they do come back I'm expecting the whole faction will be getting a makeover and update.
Yeah, dropping the rifle and sniper profiles to start off with was pretty bad, but they could have made up for it by giving us a trooper in full op nimrod gear with a Caledonian version of the MP5. The shotgun model is fine, but it really feels like the bare minimum to make the unit available...
Moblots are ace mate, they've got sappers, infiltrators and mimetism. They're engineers, paramedics and have class spread of weapons with AP and templates. Oh, and they're wildcards in MRRF so can stick em where you want them
Moblots are also the one of the only units in Ariadna to have a BTS value. Two of the others only have that for their first wound.
I don't know why I remembered Sapper being way worse than it is (did it used to be different?). Also didn't notice the E/M Mines. So, yeah, Moblots are cool actually. Still, ugly models but so were most of the old Ariadna HI models.
Moblots are some of those models that grew on me as I painted them and I'm quite fond of then now, also the shoulder pads are in three parts that makes it easy to paint Red, White, and Blue for the flag.
If MRRF comes back it's not going to look like MRRF at all. Probably loups are going to stay more or less the same but I'm sure the visual design of the others is going to get axed hard like with the CA redesign. I think they had very bad experiences not being able to sell some factions even if they look nice, like tohaa and old shasvastii/CA. The sas is a disappointment. The old ones are very cool but outdated, they just needed a new sculpt without changing things to much. The female body and the axe doesn't help. And the shotgun doesn't give the presence of a very professional troop like the sas, instead of any other barbaric caledonian. Maybe it's just me but some years ago CB had a big ammount of attention regarding troop lore and design, lots of passion project hints. Now I see the need to milk a factory product and it's driving me away from the game and the models.
Wasn't that explained as being too weirdly alien in some cases, different among them and/or tricky to cast? New designs seem highly inspired in mass media. Or "homogenized no-fat milk", if you prefer to call them that.
Yeah, that was what they said when they canned exrah. MRRF were fairly popular when I started in n2, just never got developed and modernised as the game went through iterations and fell waaay behind the curve. They're really solid in n4 now though, got a good spread of options thanks to their merc additions in knauf and wolffy
