Does anyone think that the restriction in KHDs not being able to he rhe Uberhacker in Mindwipe makes sense? It seems to be based on the now-dated idea that KHDs were the best kind of hacker.
It does seem like a pretty arbitrary restriction, I usually just skip it unless my faction already have a worthy non-KHD device.
Funny you can use bit&kiss 20 point version to be the Uberhacker, as he does not have a khd, he has an upgrade oblivion & trinity. You cannot use either mary problem: tactical Uberhacker as the Uberhacker because she has a KHD .
@HellLois could you enlighten us how Mindwipe was designed? Right now it uses a restrictive system that blocks all KHDs from being the Uberhacker. That leads to a bit of a problem, because it locks out the literal Uberhacker (Mary Problems) as possible Uberhacker, while Troops with only KHD Programs but not Devices (i.e. Bit&Kiss) and other troops with HDs and KHD Programs on top (i.e. DeFeresen) are eligible. Should Mary, having a regular Hacking Device, be eligible to be the Uberhacker for this mission? Was this supposed to be permissive for all non-KHDs or troops with non KHD Programs available (to include former WHDs and DHDs) to be the Uberhacker instead of the way it is written at the moment? This really only affects Mary as far as I can tell, so it's not a major issue. The literal Uberhacker being unable to be the Uberhacker is just a bit arbitrary and unintuitive.
Blindside answered in that thread, it was a decision to encourage more non KHDs being used in N3. CB didn't factor that in though when they added it to N4 where it really doesn't apply anymore.

I can tell you that the KHD ban was created as a N3 thing where KHDs were just the cheapest specialists and we didn’t want to buff them further. Being an hacking attack piece also created not the best gameplay in play testing but that was really secondary. It was more a list building thing. But as it’s now in ITS it is totally in Hellois hands now. I would be very surprised if the mission would change during the season. I agree that the uberhacker Mary should fluff-wise Be Able to be the uberhacker in this mission but fluff and rules do not always align.
