Small step and no idea how many painting time I'll get in a close future. Two things : - I hate gluing minis with two handed weapon poses - when priming models with plenty of small negative spaced dots, using a brush is not a good idea.
Vallejo primer is prone to make bubbles over holes, and too many stay there or get dragged to other zones. Horrible. Maybe someone knows a solution (other than "use airbrush").
Unfortunately, use an airbrush, those primers are not really made to be brush applied. You MAY try Vallejo Thinner to thin it a bit like 3:1 primer : thinner. Also, polyurethane primers like the Vallejo one are great, but the STYNYLREZ / MiG OneShot one is way better and dries way quicker.
As a matter of fact I didn't use Vallejo primer this time. The thing here is that the small dotted Cape looks like completely cover but the air in the dot prevent it to reach the recess thus the bubble explode while drying and shrinking. So I could see the metal shin again. A potential option is to dilute it more so It run through better but it's always a step closer to too much dilution which is not a better option. I had to force the brush bristles into the recesses, but for this specific mini I had to do it several time. So in the end, saving the airbrush cleaning was not a time saving option. Always new things to learn.
Okay, I think I need to pledge something different this month, to finally tackle it for real and finish it: my Space Hawk spaceship scenery. It breaks rule #1, but it's for Infinity and will get Haqqislam colors, so I hope it's opay. ;)
Yeah, I have that one too, but try to reserve it, as sourcing is trickier (before Brexit I could also try the UK brand). It also sticks better and behaves a lot better if sanding is needed; Vallejo Surface Primer behaves like rubber and leaves a sharp transition, not smooth as desired for fixing errors. I had issues with grid like patterns and chainmails. The primer is prone to foam, more than plain paint IMO, and the holes makes it worse. As you say, bubbles pop later and you have a small circle without covering, maybe even with a crater-like rim (it was obvious in the grid textured objects). Thinning does not sound a good idea when the brand says it is to be used undiluted. Dunno, maybe I can source one of those anti-foaming agents used in artist acrylic ranges. Maybe the only good way is airbrush.
Well, this is a bit of a carryover from the OPATHOME challenge started last month but I did finish* it. Beginning of Challenge End of Challenge Anyways, I am going to head out of town for a couple days and report back here in this thread for another model pledge for the month. Probably more from TIA if not the couple of Haqqislam units I got on the backburner.

I have been busy the last couple of months and I missed the painting challenge. Nevertheless I got the Cadmus finished and now working on Gwailo.
I spent sometime on it this week-end Still a lot of work to do. I'm not really happy with those, translating my scheme to the winter one is partially ok so far.

What colour did you use to highlight the purple robes? Looks magenta-ish and I want to steal that idea!
As matter of fact, the purple part have not been highlighted as I'm using the underpainting technic. So all the lighting/darkening is only done by transparency over the previous drybushing step so far. Warlord Purple VGC72014 50/50 mix with glaze medium is the only colour use on those parts at the moment.
That purple looks so good! Nice work.*really like the white masks and the blue. Maybe you could do some accents on some small parts of the blue with a contrasting colour to break the uniform look a little bit? Since these are your miniatures feel free to ignore this minor point. the most important part is that you are happy with your work.
