I'm only jesting guys. Dude said half the faction scuks. Other dude said 2 profiles were good. I'm a bakunin player too, nothing to see here :-)
Sin eaters are a joke currently, especially when compared to a TR bot. I find it easier to make a case for a healer over a moira, at least a rev healer adds something worth taking to a kusangi haris along with the custodier (which has applications as a solo support piece), but yeah aside from the Moira and sin eaters everything else is pretty good, but just gets crowded out by a few hyper optimized pieces like RG's, wolfy mcwolfface and the Vostok.
To me it's always surprising that Sin-eaters are being considered the same level as Moiras. Through my current games(at least 20 or somewhat) of Nomads or Bakunin, I've had great times with MSR/HMG/MK12 Sin-eaters. They wield the same weaknesses with TR bots(like, MSV2+Smoke combos / Surprise Attacks) but has BS13, Mim (-3), ARM 3, so to me they play the roll as ARO pieces properly. Lack of active turn capability barely annoyed me, since they are meant to hold the line while others do the active jobs. Maybe that's because of the playstyle, or local metas, I guess? I'm currently into maximizing the Reactive firepowers by fielding maximum number of TR bots, Transductors, Jaguars w/ PF(when playing vanilla), or even 2~3 Sin-eaters w/ defensive Core(2 ML Riot Grrls), while small amount of Specialists doing the mission pretty decently.
Sin eaters work, they're just expensive and still die just as easily to first turn aro removers just like their cheaper TR bot brethren. They're fine, just need to be placed better to get most mileage out of them. They are largely place and forget pieces, they're gonna die turn 1. If they get lucky, they'll spanner a few wounds back on the enemy before they go down
Sin eaters just suffer bc TR bot is cheaper and similarly good (slightly different strengths and weaknesses, but average out about the same for less).
Giving the MSR profile MSV-1 similar to other snipers would bring something interesting to the table and could compete with linked ML-Grrl at a discount. To catch up with the TR drone I would give him Immunity: Shock free of charge. Maybe combined with Dogged. He is already priced like a 2W unit.
TR bot is less likely to get removed from the table in one hit where as the sin eater will, which means the TR bot can be a constant annoyance. The TR bot is also a 6-4 climbing plus BS11(14) HMG if you need to run it around in active, the Sin eater doesnt have that flexibility. The sin eater needed shock immunity, it is also the poster child for why Neurocinetics should have just been upgraded to TR across the board.
because not all their engagements happen on ships, and not all sections of ships would be metal corridors (I remember something vaguely about various terrian types in modules for training). But I do really dislike the tactical rock pillar on the sombra.
Disappointed that there's another Intruder HMG. The old one is still excellent and an Intruder KHD with an upgrade to an MMR would have been exciting from both a list building and modelling POV.
They're also a poster child for why Shock just needs to be removed in its present form. Shock nerfs expensive 1W troops. Expensive 1W troops are the worst performing archetype in the game. Remove Shock and every expensive 1W troop in the game is a little bit better off. It's not enough to fix them on their own, but it's a start. (if you want Shock to continue to counter NWI and Dodged then let it do just that).
I agree. Even an old BSG Hellcat still looks pretty good (and I think that duo blister is still not oop), all these resculpts feel unnesesary when we got a pile of old/non-existent stuff. What's even more puzzling for me - what will they do with intruders next? They just moved old HMG and Sniper blisters oop as well as Action pack box, so there's no Intruder sniper. Another resculpt? Another repack? Another re-release and then again complain about SKU bloat?
The B:IS stuff will be released as a Cold One Booster Pack. They'll probably do: MR+LFT MB, Intruder MSR, Hellcat Spitfire.
Honestly they should have at least replaced old sculpts instead of replacing 3D ones that are already good. Reworked Wildcats for the line troops. KHD Intruder Tomcat instead of Hellcat
Yep, I had such a hard time believing that it was the hmg rather than a SMR when we got the initial leak. Such a odd inclusion.
It makes a lot of sense from a new-player product perspective, especially for a C1 box fighting Ariadna. Coming out of Corregidor, it was an Intruder HMG or a Mobile Brigada for the beatstick piece, and Ariadna is both really good at cracking armour and really reliant on Mimetism. Nomads needed some MSV in there and Wildcat Spitfires don't have the quality to cut it.
I totally agree about it being great for new players, which is why I'm not too perturbed about 4 out of 7 models bring redundaunt for my self. It's a really good faction half for new players.
It's different perspectives, we're largely looking at this from a "I'm already deeply invested in Nomads" POV. For instance, I literally have 4 Intruders painted. In that context the selection is a touch odd. I'll probably only assemble and get painted the Sombra and EVAder. From a Code One perspective where the MSR Intruder already means Intruders are in the list, then yeah adding an Intruder makes sense. But nothing really requires it to be a HMG. Honestly, does this seem bad from a Code One POV? The fundamental problem isn't the Intruder profiles, it's the 2 Hellcats and lack of meaningful defence. Even when you include the Dire Foes and Wolfy McWolfFace (which is a really cool model, and would have worked really well as a Chimera rather than a fucking Atek), the issue isn't the choice of Intruders: Which is to say, for the old guard the Intruder HMG is "meh" and for new players whether it was an Intruder HMG or Intruder SMR is irrelevant. The only reason that this makes sense is commercially: this allows CB to sell an Intruder SMR as its own Blister or sell it packaged with Wildcats to up their desirability. As an entry into CJC this is good, but CB has already realised that a lot of casual CJC players won't buy it. So it's designed for completionsists (who'll but it for just the Sombra and EVAder) and new entrants (who won't be able to buy the existing HMG). The Intruder SMR will be released in a way to maximise buy in from completuonsists / older players (a lot of whom didn't like Wildcats, a position I absolutely do not agree with). Also, can I have all your old school Spitfires. New Spitfire still leaves me cold. Kk thnx.
