Collecting the images released so far for the new Ariadna/Kosmoflot vs Nomads/Corregidor starter for Code One/N4. Themed week starts next Monday. "Noisy trailer" debuted on Polygon for a day of clicks and is now up on YouTube: There are already leaks of the preorder exclusive miniature, Wolfgang Amadeus Wolff, Wulver Bounty Hunter, the "Gen Can't" exclusive Dragon Lady miniature, a Dire Foes box with Cadin and Jazz/Billie from Defiance, and a shot of the Nomad side that has lost as many pixels as the Rebel Alliance lost Bothans to get this information to us. I can't say I like the mini for Wolff. But what interests me is that he's very Nomad looking. It makes me think he's not from Ariadna but rather a product of the black labs. It's weird he's available to all of the Nomad sectorals but not the General Nomads.
He's also in Kosmoflot and Druze, what I can remember off-hand of his fluff mentions cybernetics so we're looking at an Ariadnan Wulver who went Mercenary and has a bunch of praxitech implants.
Plus he did a lot of illegal fighting bouts (not all of them voluntary) and had to get put back together lots of times, so lots of implants, etc. (again, not all of them voluntary).
That all makes sense I guess. But if I was a scientist in the Black Labs, who saw Ariadna got veritable "super soldiers" by the injection of a genetic transforming virus, I'd be having some agents pick up some samples for testing. I'd also think some of the other powers would do the same. Haqq just because they have their own "super soldier" program. Yu Jing isn't past brain washing and exploding citizens so infecting a few test subjects is not something I'd put past them.
Could well be one of the ways Pupniks and Morlocks are created. IIRC Dog Warriors are created via in-vitro infection, which makes it less useful for modifying an existing person. There almost certainly are experiments with the cuckoo virus happening in Black Labs, but without consistent, repeatable results. Haqq seem to take a more measured and humanist approach so the downsides of the cuckoo virus (increased aggression, unstable temperament, fear of flying, breaking the law of conservation of mass) probably outweigh the benefits.
The Black Labs helped Ariadna make both the Bearpode and the Volkolak Dogfaces. So they are already head deep into that, and all to happy to play around some more. In fact the entire point of the Volkolak Program is to get dogfaces rage and transformation under control so they can be used as proper soldiers. The Cadin model looks really goofy, I was hoping this version of him would have a gun since both defiance versions got CC weapons.
Interesting choice for the Corregidor box lineup, more Algs, Hellcat and Intruder. No Wildcats which makes me wonder if that means there won't be 5 new sculpts any time soon.
I don't think we should expect, or even need, 5 Wildcats. With the way Fireteams work in Corregidor I don't see why you'd need enough for a full Fireteam. That said, there's always the possibility of 1 in Beyond followed by a box.
Following Riot Grrl tradition we'll get some 3+1 box (brigada or evader, but I won't be surprised to see yet another Grenzer) with HRL and Spitfire left as old blisters (which will be repacked in duo blister)
Bluntly: They seem to potentially have learnt from the botched nonsense that was the OG Corregidor starter. I would not be shocked to see Wildcats get a box or be part of a "Booster" pack. The Spitfire was, purportedly, one they disliked as a sculpt while they loved the derptastic HRL. So expect the Spitfire to get ditched while the HRL gets repacked as a tax on a new sculpt.

Sadly it is basicaly a resculpt box. For me, it contains only two minis, that I need as a veteran player: The EVA and the Sombra. And one of them is probably even the bonus mini. I understand, that it is a C1 product, but at the same it acts as a facton/sectorial starter. And there are not so much new stuff, besides the Vostok REM, which could be in beyond or send to the eternal waiting list, like the Long Fa Yu Jing REM. At least it would be nice to see a Moran, which is in dire need of a resculpt and they could list him in C1 with the release. But its finish already so I have to see, if I buy the box (together with someone who likes Kosmoflot) and sell half of the box (Alguas for example, they are not so different like the winter versions of Fusi and Zhanshi). I remember when the old CJC box came out, all players were hungry for the Intruder HMG ... and now we have two and two snipers already.
The saddest part is that this kind of stuff is what Bootleg's range should have been. Not just cheesecakey trash.
