So Spektrs look great on paper and they do seem fairly costed for what you get. I really want to run one or two in Tunguska but always seem to struggle to fit them into a list. Maybe this is just because Tunguska is full of pricy models so its hard to justify spending 30-60ish points on a Spektr or two. What I would like to know is what situations you guys run a Spektr (if at all)? Do you ever run more than one in a list? What roles do you use them for? What makes you run a Spektr over other models? If you include 1+ Spektrs, how do you build the rest of the list around them to make sure you have enough orders.
i used them as infiltrating specialist. it is the only one tunguska has, and at least being hidden deployed, can survive longer than Zeros in bakunin. i like the KHD profile better. I never have more than one. Whenever i have one, i have a securitate core because of costs. i did want to try AVA3 last year, would have been accompanied by puppetmaster troupe and miranda duo. But i never got to play.
The Hacker is a great gotcha piece to brick HI or tags running around the midfield, especially if its near where they need to be to engage the Grenzer. Aside from that it mostly does marker state specialist things as the FO, which is also great if your opponents run a bunch of hacking mitigation like tinbots or have fairy dust up and you want to drop missiles on their stuff as it is a fairly reliable piece to FO stuff.
If you want a surgical knife to cut out enemy nuisances such as Q-Drone or Helots, Spektr Sniper usually manages to do the quick work of it. The key point here is to outplay the enemy with MSR's superior range bands, so that the negative MODs could stay -12. Also, since the points cost of the MSR has dramatically gone down(39→33), I'm having a great time with it.
The sniper was always hamstrung by board layout. On an open board they're incredible, on tight urban boards, not so much. Other than that, all the forward operating ones are good. I particularly like them in zone scoring missions as they're relatively pricey and start in or near the zones you need to score. They aren't cheap however, you'll need to make cuts elsewhere to afford more than one
Back in N3 I played a list similar to this: Spektrs ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 GRENZER Red Fury / Pistol, Breaker Pistol, CC Weapon. (1 | 30) JELENA KOVAČ Breaker Combi Rifle, Chain-colt / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 20) PERSEUS FTO (Fireteam: Haris) Breaker Combi Rifle(+1 Dam), Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Heavy Pistol(+1B), DA CC Weapon. (0 | 32) SECURITATE Feuerbach / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1 | 22) SECURITATE (Repeater) Boarding Shotgun ( ) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 16) MARY PROBLEMS (Hacker) Submachine Gun, Zapper, Pitcher / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 28) SECURITATE Combi Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 13) SECURITATE (Lieutenant) Combi Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 13) SPEKTR (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Shock Mines, Flash Pulse / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 32) WARCOR (360º Visor) Flash Pulse ( ) / Stun Pistol, PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0 | 3) GROUP 2 5 DAKTARI Combi Rifle ( | MediKit) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 14) INTERVENTOR (Hacker, Hacking Device Plus) Boarding Shotgun ( ) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 24) SPEKTR MULTI Sniper Rifle, Shock Mines / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 33) TRANSDUCTOR ZOND Flash Pulse / PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0 | 7) TRANSDUCTOR ZOND Flash Pulse / PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0 | 7) ZONDBOT PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0 | 3) ZONDBOT PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0 | 3) 4.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army But I doubt it'll be viable considering all the N4 shenanigans other armies can put on the table and I already miss the Spitfire on the Grenzer
That looks like an interesting list for N3 but not sure how it would perform in N4. I agree That the Red Fury does not hit as hard as the spitfire on the Grenzer, but assuming a Perseus, Grenzer, Kovacs Haris, Perseus has the sweet DAM 14 Breaker Combi instead for close ranges which is kind of what you want for that Haris.
