The following hyper link http://downloads.corvusbelli.com/infinity/sectorials/secotrials-n4.zip is not accessible through normal navigation of the https://infinitytheuniverse.com/resources/infinity web page. I had to force a direct connection to get the .zip to download on my laptop using WIN 10 Chrome Browser. When ever you click on it normally the hyperlink will open a new window which immediately ceases operation and closes. Looks like something is a little off and should be an easy fix. It only occurs on this .zip file another easy solution and to make this file accessible to mobile devices easily would be to change it to a .PDF like every other file in the resources area. Thanks for help!
Works on computer just fine (Firefox and *shudders* Edge), but are you having problems on your phone? I had to long-press and select Download Link in Chrome Mobile and then confirm that I wanted to keep the file to get it to download. Chrome Mobile thinks the link can't be downloaded securely so it'll auto-close a short-press on the link. And yeah, then I can't open the .zip because my phone is still new enough to not have a zip-extractor installed
Not working for me on mobile Chrome, though it worked last week, I'm guessing it's due to the new charts being released next week.
Thanks for the replies friends. I didn't know there are here new charts coming but would seem odd to pull this file from hosting and still have it present in the resources webpage. Anyway hope the new charts are .PDFs just for ease of access.
The file exists and downloads fine with other tools. The issue must be exclusive of Chrome and probably ZIPs, as you say all other files work... but none is a ZIP like this one (and you are getting no explanation for the error, so any guess is good). I have not tested with any Chrome, desktop or mobile. Unless... Ohh, another detail, the link uses HTTP without S (here and in resources), and Chrome is in a holy crusade against that, so even if the server redirected with "301 Moved Permanently" to HTTPS (one of the tools I tried showed the negotation in detail) another guess is that this could be it (programmers explaining errors in detail? haha, less so with dark pattern masters like big corporations). Try https://downloads.corvusbelli.com/infinity/sectorials/secotrials-n4.zip (yes, with typo, not sectorials-n4.zip). No idea why the resource page contains the protocol for that file instead of leaving as "use the same than this page". CB's IT seems to be so absent minded in the cloud that they forget the basics.
I'm not a web developer or in any IT field I'm a Chef so while the details go over my head I'm not surprised that it's effectively a bit of user error and developer error combination to create this outcome. Thanks though for looking at it more from the back end though appreciate the run down.
Does that new link version work for you? That is what matters in the end, that we can point people with problems to a way to get the file.
Ok for clarity sake I have already obtained the secotrials-n4.zip file I did so by copying the link and dropping this copied link http://downloads.corvusbelli.com/infinity/sectorials/secotrials-n4.zip into a new tab those forcing the download to start and complete as per normal. Screen shot shows here I have done this again with a successful second download (1).
But if I use a normal single or double left click on the resources page a new tab opens with the following link and immediately ceases within a second or so with no download started.
OK, good, then probably the httpS thing. Resource page and your first post use HTTP (hidden fact in the browser location box in your second capture, but should appear in the bottom popup when you hover the mouse over links... at least in the first capture it happes and says HTTPS), IOW the operation is done in the open, while the link I posted with HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) makes the browser and server talk via cyphered communication (and happy Google by extension). As I said, if the browser is not going to allow something, it should show why, not just a black page. Imagine sending a waiter to customers and instead of saying "no omelette, we ran out of eggs, please order something else" just making mock faces at them. And I do not mean evolving into a Monty Python sketch, but more probably something for local news or police.
Oh no I see your wise to my Cafes setup to make money. Step 1 - Take order & take money for said order. Step 2 - ???? Step 3 - PROFIT! I digress thanks for the help again really appreciate it!
