Army updated; 0 changes to their profiles. Also they have AVA 4 in all the new sectorials. They are only AVA 3 in Spiral Corps. This whole thing smells like poor planning.
Not disagreeing. I read this as a bandage on Starmada and an attempt to sell to more factions for others. This makes me sad, I think the long arms are almost playable for Spiral and only thing stopping them is there fire teams. In Spiral if they could link with Auxiliar, Brawlers or had fire team triad I think they would see play. In Starmada the are just clunky right now.
I've been looking at them for White Company and saw they can make some interesting Haris in Starmada. The basic 22pt guy is great for getting a specialist or gun across the board as a body guard. Psi Cops and Long Arms mix pretty decently for Starmada in general and can provide a mix of solid Haris teams, including using the Autocannon as a pointman if you wanted.

It's a mixed bag. It's pretty pointless for WhiteCo and Bakunin. Bakunin's lack of viable wildcards rules them out while WhiteCo doesn't really care when they're arguing with Kaplan and Jujaks for the same points bracket are less flexible as a baseline link. Meanwhile Starmada can get decent mileage out of them due to few competing Haris options in their point range and Psi-Cops being a perfect wildcard addition to fully flesh their haris out. WinterFo lands inbetween all this. They're only interested in one profile and it's the 22 point +1B Pulzar profile. It basically rounds out a Karhu Haris (technically a Longarm Haris with 2 Karhu jumping in) the one thing Karhu are shit at which is a lack of lethal DTWs to room clear with. With a burst 3 Damage 14 big DTW the Chaksa provides a solid option to chase everything out of rooms and hits hard enough to threaten everything from 1W link filler crap, to HI and BTS6 TAGs, to TI Dogs. For 22pts it's a steal to support Karhu.
I think Starmada has some good wildcards for them. Wildcards Shona Carano Pavarti PSI-Cops Tian Gao TG can holo as one of the three, hiding that it's a specialist or jammer. All PC are Special Operative so any of them are good but the MSV marksman gains a bit with burst. Shona can have two cheap-ish bodyguards. But not as good as Varangians. I'm mot sure about Pavarti since they are slower.

(0.5 | 24) 2 SWC | 79 Points Open in Infinity Army TG kinda suck at the moment and at the same cost you are better off taking the second PC, which should be one of the hackers as spec op is borderline useless, it can press a button sure, but I'd rather have the potential to pick up the mission bonuses and the capability to do classifieds. Shona can only duo with Vguard in SM, IIRC thanks to the chart they do not get haris. unless you are taking some premium HI or something Parvatii while nice isn't needed, and if you are she is better off embedded with them.
Sorry if sounds sarcastic but Starmada doesn't have another haris team with those either. At most Beatas with mimetisim for more points. And Varangians can throw smoke for them like they would for anyone else. Also no fireteam has camo troops. Thank goodness.
That's true I guess, Starmada doesn't really have Camo or much smoke outside of Varangians. I guess they would probably need some sort of decent gunfighter to help them across the board but that Haris only has combis so it's probably not going far.
And the fun thing is, most people only looked at the Autocannon... (also, Bakunin would use precisely the Autocannon as a compensation for long range AP) Parvati is THE BEST wildcard everywhere she is. A cheap multipurpose Haris in Starmada is Shona, Parvati, and Nyoka HMG, I suppose the Chaksa mk12 could replace the Nyoka HMG if you are short on SWC, but he would be the only shock-vulnerable troop (but 3 in ARM/BTS, unlike the Nyokas) The Varangians can't link in Starmada at this moment (absent from sectorial chart link options), at the end of the week we will see if this remains or not (Koni has promised an update on the Sectorial Charts for the end of the week). That haris is a Big Game Hunter pack (of suicidal chaksas, or speculative fire) because of the E/M grenades and the hacker, so ideally they will cross safe (as in, other troops cleaned the lane) paths. Starmada does have Cybermask, however... and several are on HI platforms (Betatrooper, Santiago, Raptor). And damn if I can't stop looking at that ML Nyoka for 19pts 1SWC...
Ehhh... probably not it's competing with the wildcard Tsyklon which core links and can get marksmanship on a FB (and carries the core linking pitcher on an X-Visor).
Damage 14 combi. Or for a few more points the damage 16 Mk12. Both of those are close in assault types. Don't forget the damage 14 pulsar. The combi one is also burst 3 in a team. Fantastic for taking down low BTS troops.
Nyoka and Chaksa basic rifles are very similar. I'd value Climb+ over what little different the Chaksa brings. When comparing the basic rifle profiles.
