Ah, another confirmation that at CB everything happens in the Studio... I mean the kitchen ;) Whatever it is, more metal skins for Aristoi, please.
I'd prefer more game modes or maps (with new mechanics like in prime time) rather than new characters. And more Aristeia/Infinity metal miniatures. Or some Necromunda-style campaign mechanic with team progression and equipment acquiring (could probably start with some build-a-hero dummies instead of named aristos).
Yeah, of course. A campaign-style game is possible when evolving your team/franchise. The point about hero dummies who evolve 'from zero to hero' is to create an 'enough balanced' system to offer you options and not a straight path. The first idea that comes to my mind is a skill-tree. But, create (and test) several skill-trees for several classes is a lot of work we can't afford to do at this moment.
I appreciate plastic more and more... I hope the quality will improve further but I was very content with Moonchild and Lei Gong.
Finally bought my Multiplayer expansion today. No idea when will be able to play. May the vaccine be with you!
Mine is at my parent's house in Plague Island, was hoping things would have died down enough I could visit in March/April, but that's looking unlikely.
Also bought the Prime Time. Top Notch quality (even the box!) as always from CB. It's a damn great game and my gf keeps asking me to play it, and that by itself makes it awesome. I honestly hope CB will continue growing it. It's a pity it feels a little sidelined marketing-wise. I hope more people will learn about it soon. However in Primetime one ofthe scenario has a full 32 list of characters and what rewards they give. This makes me think that they might stop at 32 :( I hope the game keeps growing and hitting the right sales.
@Lothair You and your girlfriend are welcome to join the Aristeia! Discord. We do regular TTS events, especially during C19. https://discord.gg/9Azq76Nq7W Yes, you can never know where the journey goes. But first and foremost the 32 characters limit (which means 35.960 possible team combinations not to forget that you can combine different character tactics and there are three official decks, many mods and different scenarios) is just what has been released till the date. If you want play with more right now, there is much fanmade stuff (characters and scenarios) out there as well that you can play additionally like the Superdupont character here or many others on the Discord and the Spanish Telegram.
Regarding new modes - what if they made some kind of fast paced team deathmatch or free-for-all (with 4 players in mind) with kills as a resource to spend for some kind of 'support' (like, I dunno, obvious analogy would be Call of Duty with drone attacks for kills). Thoughts?
Sounds interesting. Feel free to create such a scenario and show it here. Would be glad to see more stuff by the community. And I will soon have a character idea finished who uses "Enrage" points as a ressource to transform himself or be more effective. He gets those points by scoring or fragging.
So based on recent rumours - no more expansions :( only evens and new skins. I hope this does not mean "failed project". No idea what the sales are, but the game is beyond fantastic.
More like "Successful project that is feature complete". From the seminar it feels like they're happy with the range and balance of characters. I wonder what will happen in the next few years, more expansions potentially further dilutes character identity, or we might start to see character rotation in AGL, with expansions being rotated in and out of tournament legality by season.
I feel a bit relieved that they won't be plopping another bunch of characters for now. I think there's enough already for the time being. Better have new modes or maybe the whole 2nd ed or something. Or a standalone base deck since CB is full copyright for AGL and there's no way to get one without another base box.
On an Idle comparison Aristeia! currently has the same number of characters as Overwatch (32). The NFL and NHL currently both have 32 teams. The NBA and MLB have 30. LoL and DOTA have 120 characters, which sounds insane personally, but maybe that shows there is room for growth? I haven't played either game so don't know how distinct they feel.
I think there is still potential for new unique character concepts. You are all invited to share your ideas here in the forums. And there is potential for a rebalanced v2 as well to change the meta and pace of the game. But time will tell how the Aristeia! story goes on. At the moment it seems that is has paused but not ended.
I hope CB at least puts out another neoprene mat for the Prime Time arena. Arenas, alt cards, and other aesthetic ways to modify the game outside of character expansions would be nice to have as an occasional release if the main task of building up the roster is done. Heck, I'd be down for a frivolous box with the Vissorama commentators, including Final Boss in a suit!
Hah. Funny, I was walking home thinking how godawful Defiance's QA and then it hit me - that exactly that Zero-to-Hero mechanic that works (kind of)! It can be adapted for use in tournament/league Aristeia (since Defiance is pretty much Infinity on Aristeia engine). Just needs: - A deck for weapon/armor (just needs to avoid 5-6 similar/quickly obsolete and class-specific options; 1-2 really unique is fine, rest to be generic for every class) - Decks for classes, with at least 2-3 builds each (+ maybe options to mix classes) - Decks for sponsors - extra objectives to earn money/exchange for "Favors" (like in Hunger games, or support/attack abilities); harder objective - bigger reward Similarly shop/level up/something-something with sponsors (reputation? sponsor-specific high-end weapons?) between games for a set amount of games. Maybe have some other real-world like pairing system implemented for tournament/league (like in football or something). In regard to balancing - better work with community in some 'alpha-test' at least at first (You know, "given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow" and all). Just in case anyone in CB ever finds this idea interesting - please don't go straight to kickstarter, it needs at least a year to be available digitally as beta-rules to be tested first (and not by your famous 'playtesters' or other 'bloggers') so it doesn't end up as a limited one-time KS-exclusive full of holes and errors.
