Yeah actually. That's it right there. If Morats were all allowed to be more Moratty. I'd give Tac Awareness, NWI and some CC to Raktoraks. And Dogged to like 3 troops. An ARM boost to a few things. And TAC Awareness on a few more troops.

Kurgats I always felt should have dogged or NWI for sporting many scars

The problem here is costs. As is, morats are already expensive as balls because of the Veteran rule. Anything else we give them will only make them MORE expensive, and we really don't want to have models like Kurgats become more expensive.

I would enjoy dogged on our MI though. It would make them pretty great.

Imagine if all Morats were that much more deadly, resilient and efficienct... just compensate with more BS, ARM wounds and orders. Crits dont auto wound not and suppression fire is pretty effective now, not literally doing math but the math pans out, it would work and Morats would seem soooo much better. Imagine Kurgats, with BS 12, NWI, ARM 3 Tac Aware, Total Immunity, Wildcard and some sort of CC skill, Theyd be in the 30s but completely self sustainable. And 35 points for that tank. It has just as many orders, wounds and ability to kill as well as survivability as having regular engineer and a warband. I mean, if Phalanx can do it, so can MAF. If you just dont like the idea, that's fine. But I'd morats to feel like Morats, like, all of them.

Mate, 3 blokes is 90 points at that point. Thats A LOT of points for 3 guys. It's the same as 3 suryats, and at that point I would rather take 3 suryats.

Kurgats are good now. The only way to make them better would be allowing them to join HI Links. In fact, I will defend the only bad units right now in MAF are vanguards (anything but hacker or paramedic is pointless) and hungries when in a link. Everyone else is pretty good, even if there's room for improvement.

As I said, I would enjoy dogged on our MI. But asking for a gajillion buffs on a troop is just unreal, man. Let's be realistic.

I said give them wild card, so you only take one.

But again it's just so I can really believe Morats are big badass gorillas in space armor.

    Morats I don't see as "Space Apes". . .

They are "Warrior Onis From The Stars". . .

    So. . .

Oznats and Zerats are really "Lum, Star Oni Princess" from the (rather venerable) Anime / Manga "Urusey Yatsura" by Rumiko Takahashi. . . . .???

Could try to draw some "Svarhalheimer Morats" wearing Yellow-Tiger-Striped Furs and wielding "Power Kanabo Maces".

You must have access to completely different Kurgat profiles than I do.

I always hated the 'apes' characterization. Its such an annoying meme. They don't look like apes at all. The older models (with their lack of a lower jaw) even less so.

Come on, mate. Competent shooters, competent buttom pushers, haris option and acceptable cost? They're pretty good as they are.

Would it be better if they were wildcards? Sure. But they are good at the moment.

I disagree. They're better then they were, but they're expensive engineers burdened with weapons they're awful at using. They're not good shooters at all, and investing in a Haris to give them +1 B is ridiculously expensive and still not very effective (and creates a really lackluster Haris anyway, unless you fill it with wildcards). They're also really poor specialist options compared to almost anything else MAF offers in the same range.

I've been playing with Kurgats literally since the very first model was released and I've always been disappointed with them. They're the only Morat unit I've never been able to get to work, and I used to run the original Suryats. These days I only take a Kurgat if I absolutely need an Engineer but feel like the Mines are more valuable than the mechanoid's Doctor Skill. And thats pretty rare.

Okay, on reflection I'm being a little hyperbolic. I actually like the BS profile a lot more now after the N4 changes. Its more expensive than I'd like for a basic Engineer (but not a bad value for its points), but if I NEED an engineer its an okay alternative to the Mechanoid. I didn't feel that way previously, but the upgraded BS, ARM and AP mines gives it a different niche to fill.

I also think of them as Space Oni and if Inremember correctly the lore describes their varying skin colors to be exactly that of Oni. Red being the most common and white being the most rare matching Kornak. Blue are schemers and honestly, if Morats were to get another unit and it was an intelligence unit and they tasked themselves with separating from the EI, I'd hope theyd have a pale blue complexion to further support Space Oni as a theme. Calling them apes is just a trope because A.) They are strong overall and B.) Yes they actually do have an ape face just no lips.

As for Kurgats. Well, having a Haris makes very little sense, you would almost certainly want to fill it wildcards and there isnt much synergy between Kornak, a Raktorak and any of Kurgat profiles. Theres overlap in weapons youd wanna bring, Raktorak already is a Specialist. Fire templates is better than AP on most things and Kornak on CC is likely more effective. Are they competent, yes. Do they makes much sense I don't believe so. So I stand by my belief that Morats should get even better. And give full wildcard to Kurgats and Anyat. Making the other 6 Core Fireteams that MAF can bring the flavors of the week and Kurgats can be the crunch you want on top.

My Morats were always an independent regiment, a small army of rebels fighting against CA - even without the chance to win. I wrote about it some fan-fiction stories, while we were playing a campaign few years ago, but in Polish.
I don't own any non-Morat aliens, besides few shas, that were bought only to be put on the bases of my soldiers as their victims ;)

Morats are heavy in Tattooing (the "Yellow Lines" on the Daturazi Arms, probably some sort of "Visual Purity Seal" towards their patron "Warg God" Cotoya) and Warpaints (the "Skull Facepaint" on Kornak Gazarot). . . . .

What coule be a cool "Free Morat Rebel" kind of Visual Reference. . .

For Krakots could be something rather crude like Morat Glyps saying "FUK THE EI" but maybe some sort of "Loftier Rebel Leader" (a Daturazi who "Broke Free" from the controlling "Big Brother Wristwatch" of the Comlog; a Raicho or Rasyat "Pilot" commanderiing a Renegade Battalion) would employ a rather more sophisticated "Regalia Heraldry". . .

Maybe I'm misremembering but for "Vanilla Standard Morats" (Red Skinned with Yellow or White-Bluish Hair-Fur; as opposed to Kornak "Racial Minority" of Ashen Gray Skin and Hair) the Blue Colour was synonimous of "Honourable Death"; could swear that I read somewhere that Morat Soldiers willingly charging a Superior Enemy Firebase (such as Nested HMG) would paint their face Blue. . .

So "Blueface Warpaint" could somehow represent their "Death As Servants Of The Ur-Rationalists; Rebirth As Free Morats". . . . . !!!

None, the CA obliterated a planet to show their superiority to the Morat Supremacy. With the Morats believing fully that the strongest should rule the CA by doing that proved without a shadow of a doubt that they're superior be leagues to the Morat Supremacy.

I don’t remember any blue Morats, and the fact that Kornak isn’t red is made out to be a very rare trait due to high levels of ethnic homogeneity.

time for bigger better morats for N4 no more S2 bull let's make them s5 across the board with more wounds and berzerk like good monkey vanguards :P
PS: adding more not-tyranit pets would make them cooler

    No, they aren’t. Explicitly so.
    Ruthlessly efficient soldiers, not warriors.

I like this. Lets have S5 versions of all current Morats with +3 ARM, CC and PH, and they can G-Sync with the current versions of the same units. So Giant Vanguard have a Tiny Vanguard pet.

    This is what MAF needs.

Why stop at S5? Let's just make the entire Morat line S7. Or let's scale them like the Daturazi bust that Luxumbra did.

Yeah yeah I know what you're saying, and I certainly did not mean it in the noble way, but the savage way, think about, Raicho's with animal pelts, it's a form of honor... and yeah conquests is honor too.
