    Hello Ladies & Gentlemen :)

I just got into N4 as a new player and have played an introductory game, wich raised some questions, that I'd like to ask you.

    1) When my model is in base contact with a terrain piece, but this one terrain piece doesn't obscure the model means, that it has no cover. But what, if my model is in base contact with a terrian piece, wich doesn't obsure it...but another terrain piece, wich has no base contact, does obscure it. Does it then have cover?

    2) When exactly do the ARO take place? At wich timing? Does one short skill need to be finished, or maybe both for this? From wich exact point is measurement made then, if someone does a BS then?

    3) Games do apparently last longer than 3 rounds, right? Do the players then play until the win condition is reached? Or is there a round limit then?

I heve the feeling, that I maybe forgot something. If it is so, I would ask them later.

Thank you already for your help!

    Best regards

Welcome, glad you enjoyed the game!

    1) You must be in silhouette contact with the piece of terrain that is obscuring you to gain cover, no touching, no cover.

    2) The Order Expenditure Sequence is described here: https://infinitythewiki.com/Trooper_Activation#Order_Expenditure_Sequence

    Essentially it boils down to
    - First Skill
    - Declare AROs
    - Second Skill
    - Declare any New AROs
    - After all skills are declared, measure and roll. Measurements for BS Attacks can be made at any point along a trooper's movement path during the order.

    3) Scenarios tend to be capped at 3 turns except for the occasional homebrew and campaign scenarios. Between the order pool system and AROs a lot can happen in three turns.

Thank you very much for your quick reply :)

    1) Understood, was just wondering due to cover logic.

    2) I read the instructions on the wiki. Does that mean, that I can only shoot within the ARO, at the exact point the model will stand, after the short skill? Or can I declare at any point he moved within the short skill?

    3) Affirmative.

Any point within the Order, so if the Active model moves across an alley, starting and ending their Move skill in cover, you can choose to shoot them when they are in the middle of the alley and out of cover. Furthermore you don't have to choose the exact position until resolution. As per the FAQ:

To continue the example above, the Active Model declares Move across the alley, you would Declare an ARO with the Reactive Trooper specifying what weapon is used (and against which trooper if multiple are activated) then at Resolution you can choose where along the Active Trooper's movement path you attack them.
