Answer: Yes I bloody well do. The HMG has a .07% chance to do 3 wounds, a 1.32% chance to do 2 wounds, and a 13.54% chance to do 1 wound, as shown on the diagram. 1 * .1354 + 2 * .0132 + 3*.0007 = .1639 average wounds per attack. You need to wound Jotum 5 times to actually kill it off (thanks to double unconscious), so number of orders to kill a Jotum = 5/.1639 = ~30.506 average number of orders to kill a Jotum in cover with a BS 13 unit, outside of a fireteam, also in cover, assuming you can't die. So if you have an immortal BS 13 unit with an HMG, you'd need to spend about 30 orders to kill it. Like I don't want to be rude but I have not the slightest clue what the point you are trying to make here is.
As pointed out, HRL and HMG frequently have roughly equivalent damage output against a single target, although the HRL tends to carry a slightly higher risk of being wounded itself. However, HRLs are a cheaper weapon, and creative use of templates can significantly increase your returns. Having a broad array of weapons gives you more tools during a game, but sometimes the right tool is in the wrong place, so you can’t effectively use it. I really enjoy seeing these things play out on the table; it’s part of the tactical analysis that I think makes Infinity great.
This may different from your opinion, but similar to a Dakini I as an Aleph player for my first army considers Hector to be Aleph even if he is in O-12. Much like with the Dakini I tend to avoid using the fallowing models in my O-12 partly because I want to play with non Aleph things or want to feel like I am playing O-12. I feel the inclusion of Dakini, Hector, Deva and Andromeda in O-12 dilutes the feel of the faction so I do not use them from both a rules and ascetics perspective. They are as much O-12 to me as Liang Kai is to me. As for Parvati and Hippolyta I am not sure weather they are O-12 or Aleph, I will probably put Hippolyta in O-12 and Parvati in Aleph, though we will see how I paint them. I play Aleph as my main faction and I do not want to play O-12 like I would play Aleph as I feel that defeats the point of playing two factions. Also though Hector can do CC and fight he is much more of an enabler designed to be the LT and putting him into combat with CC models such as a Kiel San, Agax, Dog Face or the new Knight of the Holy Sepulcher as these can be rather stressful and tenuous, not a place I would choose to risk my LT in them if I have other option to avoid it.
