This has come up regarding attacking an AC2. If I remember correctly, the +1 Burst bonus from multiple troopers in CC was possible against scenery in N3 (clarified in the FAQ, can not find the N3 FAQ online anymore, so can not confirm). I would like to know if this is an intended N4 change or perhaps if this has been forgotten. As I have interpreted the N4 rules this +1 Burst bonus is not possible against scenery due to the following logic: The two troopers must be engaged in close combat --> Activation of the engaged state requires a the trooper to be in silhouette contact with an enemy trooper --> A piece of scenery is not a trooper, therefore a trooper can not be engaged with it, therefore it can not gain the +1 Burst bonus. Am I missing something, perhaps? Just wanted to mention it here, so that I can perhaps get an answer or at the least put this on CB's radar.
You don’t need to be in the Engaged state to be engaged in Close Combat. Q.f. CCing an IMM TAG. The rule makes it clear that in the active you get the +1B for each peripheral / trooper in SIL contact with the target.
As inane.imp says, it's the general English term 'engaged', rather than the specific capitalised game term 'Engaged State'. That's why the Active Turn section specifies Silhouette Contact.
Thanks for clarification. An unfortunate choice of word, much like veteran troop category and veteran skill.
