Now that the Blue Wolf is awoo-ing away in the White Banner, and TAGs are actually pretty good now, I wonder if we may someday see YuJing's Judicial Corps get a big honkin' robot of their own. Sure, there's the Su Jian, but it's a different beast from a proper TAG, being more an angry midget Decepticon. Not to say the Su Jian is bad or anything, I'd just like a Bigger Robot To Ensure "Criminals" Stop Resisting
    [IMG]

The Su Jian to me is a flexible close to mid range weapon, but not optimised for a direct fight, more for hit and run type attacks. The ISS TAG, if there was one, should be more able to get stuck in and stamp the enemy flat. I'm thinking a Guijia variant, but maybe with armour reduced and maybe better Martial Arts and Dodge, plus armed with closer-ranged weapons. Maybe MULTI Rifle and a Vulkan Shotgun. And for CC weapons, maybe an EXP CCW, or a DA with CC Attack Shock.

But if there was one, what would you all want from it?

I don't think it necessarily needs to be a TAG, but we need something that fills a similar roles to a MBT both on the table and when list building; fast, anti-armour capabilities at range, as well as high cost and high return on cost.
If the unit is also highly sturdy like most TAGs, a specialist Pilot like all (non-ED) TAGs, and if it has TacAware like all TAGs, then that's a bonus.

This can be achieved by making a Su-Jian variant with AP or Para BS weapons, or by making a mobile Yan Huo, etc. Can also be acheived by making a Blue Wolf variant exclusive to ISS in a similar vein to how the Seraph has two very distinct loadouts or how the Tikbalang has a Military Orders unique version that shifts its loadout to be more straight forward. Like what if Blue Wolf, but AP Spitfire -> AP HMG and Berserk -> Sensor? Hell, if it wasn't called "Mongol Cavalry", an AVA 1 of the Blue Wolf would fit right in as it is, IMO.
I don't think a Guijia variant is the way to go, though, tbh. It just steps a bit too much on the toes of both Hsien and Crane.

They need a TAG just for the sake of some missions that allow them to destroy objectives that need anti-material CCW! ISS has very little of those weapons. If there's a tournament that has those missions, I will NOT be bringing ISS. They just can't compete in them. YJ already has it tough with those missions but ISS is the worst of them.

I'm not sure I view ISS as the cops they used to be. That's been taken by O-12. Maybe more of a anti-terrorist type thing. I think of a light TAG (ARM 6-7) for urban combat. As much as I'd like it, I can't see it being good at CC but you never know. Climb+ too. Somewhat light weapons, Spitfires, Marksman rifle, etc. Then Pulsar or Chain Rifle instead of HFT. The reason being fire is not good to use near buildings.

Oh, they never were a police force. More like Carabinieri. Only with more guns and less oversight than Carabinieri-style police typically have.

AP spitfire on the su-jian would fit the bill well enough.

Considering how little it cost AP spitfire on anything already equipped with spitfire would be amazing. AP spitfire Su Jian, AP spitfire Crane, AP spitfire Rui Shi, heck even AP spitfire Deva would be amazing. But if i had to choose then it most likely would be Su Jian.

Agreed. The Su Jian is already a pseudo TAG and an ISS specific loadout would cement it in that role. AP Spitfire sounds like a no-brainer, Para CC Weapon would be a nice touch as well.

They may not act like it but by the story they are a part of the judicial system of YJ used to fight terrorism and subversives.

That may be but it's still not considered a TAG for the purpose of missions that could really use the TAG rules. Like the ones that I mentioned that need Anti-material CCW. Only TAGs get that extra in those missions. Ariadna, who doesn't have TAGs have more D-Charges and T2 weapons. So if they gave the SJ a DA CCW it would work for that without being a TAG.

Note: I've gone through the Season 11 missions and TAGs are no longer scoring for some missions (like must be a TAG holding an objective). They have the Armored Fury on a few missions that allow them to add DA ammo to their CCW.

They're a paramilitary "secret" police force in the vein of the Stasi or KGB, rather than your UN peacekeepers, SWAT, or Interpol types. The kind of group that considers shotguns to be prefectly good Riot control weapons.

I'm going with what the books say. All things there's shades of grey. They however are very dark grey. They are officially Judicial force under the control of the emperor. I haven't seen anything about their numbers or weaponry compared to IA or other military forces. I have a feeling due to the introduction of Tian Gau and Haidao, we could see a Naval force of some sort in the future.

Just because it got my imagination going here's what I'd like. Almost an Urban version of the Blue Wolf. Less CC but still on par with average YJ troops.

    Move 6-4 / CC20 / BS14 / PH15 / WIP13 / ARM6 / BTS6 / STR3 / S6 / AVA1
    Standard TAG Equipment and skills

    Additional equipment & skills
    BS Attack (+1B)
    Climb Plus
Tinbot B (native to the TAG makes him great going against hackers and others)

    Weapons
    Base

Pulsar (don't want buildings catching fire)
Breaker Spitfire (Just interesting compared to the AP Spitfire)
    DA CCW

    2 variants
    Acrylate Kanon
    or
Madtraps (Fluffy and makes them come out with more F***ing Madtraps)

This looks soo much better than Blue Wolf its not even funny. But Im a sucker for madtraps ;0
But at the end of the day I dont think a TAG would really make sense for ISS, after all they are not military. Su Jian is as heavy as it has to considering usual ISS operations. At the end of the day if CB feels like ISS needs a TAG for ITS balance Im pretty sure they would just put Guijia in and call it a day. After all there is no way that any Military General would say "no" to a Hsien asking 'nicely' to borrow a Guijia for a day or two ;)

Have you seen what regular police in several states and ICE in the US has access to?

I don't think a Hsien is capable of piloting a Guijia effectively (see Guijia blurb about what Guijia training constitutes) and requisitioning it directly from a military general is probably even more difficult. Seriously, though, it's not the size of the guns or the funding that dictates that ISS aren't military, it's the chain of command that does.

If ISS were to have a TAG (and I'm cool with this), I'd want it to fit in the vein of a heavily-armored (for a light TAG, to better fit the ISS scope of operations) door kicking close-range fuckbeast. I wouldn't even mind something equipped with little more than an HSG for a main weapon if it came with a suite of cool and quirky toys and the tools to get them in position.

...maybe take that limited weaponry but load in a Kuang Shi control device and allow it to form a fireteam with them. A light 'controller' TAG that uses Kuang Shi like little living ancillary units. Man, that'd be cool.

At this point, turning Kuang Shi into ancillary units in general would probably open up a lot of design space to fix the sectorial at this point. It'd be extremely problematic for vanilla, but not necessarily the end of the world.

    Lol thanks.
It's not only about the mission of being fair. It's also about the $€£! If they put out a good looking and rules TAG, I'd buy it! Why miss the opportunity?

If I were designing Infinity, I'd just give ISS access to the Anaconda. It fits their fluff requirements to a T and it's cheap enough to use as a battering ram if necessary.

But for the sake of sheer fun, I'd like a new ISS TAG to be a real urban-combat nightmare, packing the usual MBT defensive stats and MULTI HMG alongside Chest Mines for close defense and Climbing Plus to navigate densely-packed areas. Better still would be a lethal anti-Hacker countermeasure to punish casual ARO hacks, requiring the full active program burst under most circumstances for a safe hack, letting the TAG move more freely in its own turn and giving ISS some of its old active-turn dominance back.

Light Tag, same size as Blue Wolf, AP HMG and low level CC + Stealth and either mim -3 or Madtraps? They don't have a lot of mimetism and another troop with madtraps would create a theme and afford them some cqb protection.

I had in mind entire Guinea with a pilot. :)
And considering who Hsien are I don't think anybody can say no to them.
According to their fluff they are theright hands of the celestial emperor, their word is law.
Even if they don't have official direct control over military there must be something similar to MP in YJ war machine. And I'd assume that ISS has at least some influence there.

Anaconda would work. It's a terrible TAG and all things considered it wouldn't enhance ISS' ability to push forward all that much. It's a hard chunk that can't push buttons until the egg has cracked and the operator is permanently out... It'd also fit the ISS modus operandi of getting mercs to fill their operational holes.

Keep in mind that the Emperor is only a semi-autonomous puppet and isn't part of the Yu Jing warmachine. As far as I know, ISS serve as a form of MP in the army with lower ranking agents, but this doesn't mean they can bully their superiors into giving them the most premium equipment available to Yu Jing armed forces.
