Hi CB, Why are there no blind tokens in the game? Also, when does the blind state end? The card does not say when.
There is no blind state. Maybe you're thinking of Stunned? Stunned can be removed by a Doctor (for W models) or an Engineer (for STR models) and is also automatically canceled at the start of the States phase of the player turn in which it was caused.
it’s on the card: The rules state that card show when a state is ended. However blinded card does not say this (other cards do). Also there are tokens for all states in the game, except blinded (symbol on card is represented on token - not in this case). Seems like a bit of an oversight from CB and should be added to the game sets.
(Bump) @ijw can we get an answer on when the Blinded state ends? I think everyone now has the tokens, but the card doesn’t mention how long the state lasts.
We've been playing it like it ends after the blinded model's next activation. I think that's the most reasonable take.
So it seems like blind prevents am enemy from doing anything. It seems a little too powerful, considering how easy it is for jazz to blind hack people. For example, in mission 3, wee prevented the charontid from ever attacking by blinding it first every turn. I'm wondering, if blinded, will the enemy still follow orders to get into contact with a character and then attack then with a range 1 weapon? My group agreed on No, as a blinded miniature wouldn't be able to target anyone, but it makes any enemy non hacker almost useless.
Doesn't the enemy need to be hackable in the first place? That might not help in your specific example, but I was looking for it in scenario 2 and most of the enemies aren't even hackable. And the ones that do, have a much better bts than Jazz's hacking.
Blind says they can only attack close, it doesn't say they can't move, so I assume they can move towards the enemy. There's also that rule of "if you're in question, choose the option which is most evil".
The enemy can still move and make close combat attacks, plus it can only be used on hackable targets so it is not too powerful. It is very useful on mission 3 since the Charontid respawns 3 times.
Yes, we were using it against the Charontid, which is hackable and does not have a hacking device. I agree that it would make the enemy more dangerous to be able to move and make range 1 attacks, but nothing says that is what should happen, and it doesn't make sense from and fluff or logical perspective. How does the enemy move towards the person with the most aggro if it can't see or use it's sensors? It makes sense that if someone was in contact with the charontid, it would be able to attack that character. But if it can't see farther than 1 square away then it can't see any targets and can't move to them, that move action would then skip, and if there is no character in close combat, then it won't be able to attack anything, so it basically skips through all the AI actions. It would be nice to get an faq from CB, as that would allow us to play in the manner that it was intended at least.
Regardless of fluff, blind makes no restrictions to movement, only to line of sight and choosing targets of actions in adjacent squares. So enemies can still move towards characters as the move action does not require line of site. Enemies can still make close combat attacks as this targets and adjacent square. In terms of fluff they can likely still hear their opponents :-)
Sorry for the delay on this guys! Directly from the devs, about the "blind" state: The Blind state is possibly the most powerful state in Infinity Defiance. A Blinded Character can only target adjacent Enemies, or perform actions that don't require Line of Sight. The Blind state cannot be removed automatically. A Blinded Character can remove it using "Cleanse" or "Team Reset" software. In the expansions there will be a new Loot card that will let you remove states from your heroes. The Enemies with the Blind state will remain Blinded during all the game or until they are defeated. The Blinded Enemies can: Perform Hacking (if they're a hacker) as this action does not requires Line of Sight and is not affected by the Blind state. When performing the instructions Acquire Target and Assault, Blinded Enemies will always try to get within Range 1-1 (adjacent) to perform any Attack.
Awesome. Thanks Arch and thank you Koni. CB is the best miniature gaming company, not in small part for their awesome engagement.
