Standing in the makeshift circle as the rest of the team sat to eat.

"The father is alive and well." He said in between mouthfuls, "I'll have his personal data forwarded to all of your giests."

The shadowy cloud with glowing eyes that made up Saito's giest dispersed in digital wind to mail the data to it's counterparts in his team.

"I'm all for snooping over the father to catch a trail, but we'll have to play it somewhat legal. Especially in this warzone, with our merc tags. They'll not go easy on us if we're caught doing something naughty."

With that said, Saito's giest begins to pull up transport methods for reaching Zawacka easily and quickly.

Konrad tries to blend in more outside the quarters as he is a bit intimidated by the more physical fit members of his team and being at a military base in quarantine isnt the best for his mental state thats more free spirited.

"We are not in a hurry, so we can be cautious. Maybe we should look for some quarters where we are less disturbed from the officials and maybe we should look if we need any supplies and where to get some stuff."

In the morning after a battery of tests from Order of Saint Lazarus doctors the team was cleared. They collected their gear and were shown to the front door of the field hospital. Compared to most in here walking out on two legs seemed to be a rarity.

Zawacka used to be a quiet town before the war. A place built on the back of forestry and an EXXO genetic research lab with all the services that flocked to service them. The town also sported a descent sized Atek community. It wasn't much to sing home about. Then the war came. The First Offensive saw its tiny aerodrome expanded out to accommodate a flux of military aircraft. The Second Offensive changed Zawacka forever. The Order of Dobrzyn moved in and established a permanent presence to protect supply routes going to Fort Schultz and later Camp Yankee. Alongside them the Order of Mercy's 9th Rescue Wing with an accompanying field hospital from the Order of Saint Lazarus came to call Zawacka home.

The influx of military personnel and being centered so close to the front was like a bright light to many. Mercenaries, reporters, NGOs, and those looking to take advantage of the war came rushing in. Zawacka no longer represented that sleepy little forestry town. It was now a bustling town of those fighting a war or those trying to make a quick buck off of it. Many of the old inhabitants had left but others had stayed adopting to the new clientele that blew in overnight. The Ateks stayed because they had no means or ways to leave. They were stuck no matter what. With the reduction of logging jobs and shuttering of some of the mills many were out of work.

All this meant was that the team had more then enough options for a ride over to Pulaski to talk to Pedro's father. The mercenaries in town spanned all types but those with the means to move the team were the Druze or Dashat Company. Dashat had been in town the longest providing security for the EXXO research lab and its personnel. The Druze... well who knew what legal or illegal activities they were involved in here.

The NGOs here had been dealing with refugees or providing aid to those who didn't leave Zawacka. The refugee efforts had been winding down for sometime since the end of the Second Offensive. Shepard's Guide was the largest organization when it came to aid for the Atek population. O-12's Bureau Lakshmi had been hard at work ferrying medical supplies to them.

Finally there was the Mother Trucker battalion attached to the 2nd AED who moved supplies across the breath of Black C's frontline for their own forces and O-12. There were many local companies and independents moving cargo for O-12 but these USAriadna truckers were more than a perfect fit for this area devoid of hyperways, limited train lines, and the threat of attack from the Combined Army.

Lots of options but who was the best bet?

Konrad on the Tacnet after walking out of the hospital

"Lets get a room and a place where we can plan our next steps. first we should check if we need some additional supplies then we could look if there is some regular traffic to Pulaski or if we need something else."

Scanning through a list compiled by his giest, Saito's eyes zoned in on the Mother Trucker company. He knew of them. That they wouldn't dig too deeply into their affairs, aside from the informal intel pass along to AED command, which he was more than okay with. That, and they wouldn't object to a aride along, so long as said company was willing to defend the convoy. Of which the ex ninja was all too happy with.

With this, Saito forwarded the intel on the Mother Trucker company through the tacnet.

Gentlemen, i'd say we go with this option. May take a touch longer, and there may be battles involved. But we'll get by unnoticed with a civilian convoy then with a military escort. Especially a logistics convoy. Normal people don't much pay attention to those.

All Mother Truckers that brought cargo into Zawacka always stopped at one place: Snake Eyes. A club and bar that had been here since Zawacka's founding. Its name and owner have changed over the years but its current incarnation has been here the longest.

Its old fashion neon sign showed a pair of dice with their faces showing a single dot. The dreaded snake eyes.

Its parking spots were full of Rackham buggies, a few modified Sundras, a lone TZ Ono (its color panels synced together to produce a Japanese rising sun pattern stretching across its entire body), and taking up a whole parking lot to the left of the building was a gigantic Sterling Flatboat ore hauler. There was a least one Mother Trucker crew here.

Inside the place was old school swanky. Looked like one of those clubs from the period pieces about the 1980s. Nothing like any modern club on Neoterra or Bakunin.

The Mother Truckers were easy to spot. A bunch of loud Ariadnans crowded into a booth. A few sporting stetsons. One of hat wearers spotted the 7 foot tall Eddie with his on. The man squinted his eyes.

"We're did you get that hat?" He drawled.

"A friend. Well actually from Rebecca Morgan from Team Coca-Cola," Eddie responded flashing a toothy grin.

One Mother Trucker tried and failed to keep some beer in his mouth. "No shit! Where you know her from?"

"Circuit Two Championship for the Human Sphere Grand Prix. Didn't get to watch the race but I heard she kicked ass."

"You sure did miss an ass kicking," one of them leaned out the booth to look at the bartender. "Two more pitchers over here. We got friends that look thirsty." He looked over at the team, "Drinks on us as long as you spill the beans on Morgan."

Eddie looked around and shrugged, "Why the hell not."

The Uberfallkommando pinged the rest of the team.

Well that was an easy enough introduction.

The shower had renewed Kenn's spirits. Besides removing the filth of the deathworld along with the waste from microscopic bugs & bacteria. He seemed to have successful at mimicking the Human species' washing ritual without angering the aliens. Though it was possible that they simply didn't care what the Tohaa was doing or just were concerned with their own cleaning sessions to care. Regardless of the reason Kenn & Igor were now cleansed. Ready to take on the horrors that Paradiso had to offer...okay that wasn't nearly true in any sense of the word.

Kenn was ready to go home, if that slummy apartment could be called that. But there was still the issue of the Human who stole the geometric shapes that kept this species memories. Now the team was on the search for this murdering thief's spawner or "father" which seemed to be the term used for such a parental figure. Kenn didn't pay attention to the others talking about what mode of transport they were going to use for the trip to this Z-land he kept hearing about. He was busy restocking the supplies pertaining to his field of skills. Namely medical & engineering.

As the Tohaa was finishing up packing, with Igor mindlessly helping in the task, a message appeared on Kenn's holofeed presented by mini-Igor in a lively fashion. Apprently the Human named "Eddie" or "Ed" had found their transport. A certain group called Mother-Truckers. Why did these Humans call themselves the parental term for a female who has given birth to offspring? Was this an all female group? Had they all brought forth young for the purpose of continuing this species survival & existence? Was this a dangerous cult in disguise with weird rituals like those evil Nomad nuns he had been hearing about? Whatever the case Kenn Ta'al's interest was peeked. He had to see what these possible savage creatures looked & how they interacted in their environment. Quickly finishing up the repacking process Kenn headed towards were the bar was located. His controlling pheromones causing Igor to drag along behind him. He was determined to see what these "mothers" were. With Igor going in first as a shield for his safety of course.

Note: Because of his time spent separated from intelligent life, getting lost on Paradiso & being found by Humans a few days later, Kenn's pheromone systems were shot & had to reheal while in Human care. This trauma causes mental damage to Tohaa and in Kenn's case he sometimes loses the plot so to speak. This is shown in his mention of going on a trip to "Z-land"/Zawacka not realizing that he & the Humans he is with are already there.

I think one of the reasons Kenn has remained with the Humans instead of his own kind is due to them being the first intelligent species that he was able to pheromonally bond with. Sort of replacing his former species collective with a new one. Now he is emotionally attached to Humanity & in turn their cause for survival against the Combined Army or anyone else. It makes me wonder that perhaps if a Combined force found him instead he'd be placed into Sygmaa society and work towards the E.I.'s war efforts through a twisted version of the Tohaa's brand of science. A scary mad doctor enemy experimenting on captured soldiers or civilians of any species he could get his hands on.

As Saito walks through the threshold into the bar. He scans around looking for all the tell tale signs. Exits, trouble, where he can make use of said trouble. Mayhap it's because the ordeal is catching up with him, but it's obvious the Japanese man is looking around. Getting the com over the tacnet, he walks over to the table after Eddie and greets the truckers.

"Greetings gentlemen." Saito bows a traditional Japanese bow. "How are you doing today? We would be delighted to..... Spill the beans."

Best to play up the nationalism for the countrymen inside.

Taking a seat next to Eddie, who plopped into one himself. He then extended his hand to shake theirs and introduced himself as well.

"Saito Hagiwara." Saito's instincts told him that in this case. Honestly would work better than lies and ruses.

Seeing the Human warrior Saito walk into the building Kenn decided now was the best time...to send Igor in as a living shield. Taking precautions to his safety is the foremost thing currently on his mind. After all anyone in his position would agree to this logic.

Kenn: "Here we go Igor..." Talking out loud to himself once again. "Barging into the den of cockatrices. I think that is how it goes? Nevermind! Into the fray bullet-sponge best friend!!"

Staying close to the beast's backside as Igor pushed the knobbed portal of the establishment open. The Chaska cast some attention on it's entrance from those who bothered to look towards the open doorway. But most of the patrons either were busy or didn't care to see who or what walked in. Those who did latch their eyes onto the scene were greeted with the strange sight of something trying to remain pressed against the Chaska's back. Walking with a waddle to not entangle itself in the bulky alien's legs. After a few seconds of awkward shuffling Kenn peaked his head out to locate where Saito & Eddie had gone off to.

What he got when locating where the two were seated was not what he was expecting. It seemed dispute their name this group consisted of both Human genders. The sexes weren't even separated from each other. What they did seem to share was the headgear that only covered the top of their noggins. It certainly was a unique style that Kenn hadn't seen before. Curiosity peaked but remaining cautious, Igor began to move again with the Tohaa following behind in a manner similar to a child doing a "I need to go potty" dance. A few more seconds and both aliens managed to reach the group's table.

Kenn: "Hello fellow party member Ed..." Taking care to remain mostly hidden behind Igor while still showing his face. "I got your ping and decided to head over as fast as possible to offer my support in negotiations." Then after scanning the Mother Truckers he turned back to his teammates. "They don't look like maternal caretakers to me." Looking back at a female Trucker, "I highly doubt this female has ever attempted to give birth before. I'd be careful of trusting them if I were you. Their chosen name is false advertising. They have males among them. How can Human males give birth?"

The Mother Truckers greeted Saito with handshakes and sliding over an overfilled pint of beer his way.

Eddie was about to dive into his tales of meeting Rebecca Morgan when Kenn drew the whole ire of the table. It wasn't that he was Tohaa. It was what he said.

The women he was talking to lowered her glass slowly, "What the fuck did you just say to me, artichoke?"

The rest of the table got quiet before one of them laughed.

"It's alright, Conway." The man looked at Kenn. "Oh, aren't you just as dense as a Dog Warrior! Thinking a little to literally, buddy. Mother Trucker is a play on words. In particular from a beautiful piece of human profanity: mother fucker. Those we work for use that and our real name interchangeably.

The rest of the Mother Truckers chuckled except Conway. She just glared at Kenn.

Eddie quickly transitioned into his stories to continue to defuse the situation.

Eddie@Kenn Unless you want to end up stabbed to death behind this bar, shut the hell up and just listen.

Eddie eventually broached the reason why they were here. "I wish this was just a coincidence that we met but we are actually here seeking your services."

The Mother Truckers got quiet and flashed glances at one man.

"Need to move something?" He asked.

"Yeah, me and my team," answered Eddie.

"That can be done. Lots of red tape to clear with the 2nd AED and O-12 though. Unless you'd like to avoid all that, which we can do, for a price."

[The price that the Mother Truckers are asking for is going to cost 10+3d6/T3 (so someone is going to suffer 2 shortfalls at the very least). SDA didn't have it in their budget to pay Mother Truckers so it's coming out of your own accounts. Haggling them down to something cheaper is going to be a face-to-face Persuasion test (D3 (was D2 before Kenn made it +1 for his comment) for the team and D2 for the Mother Truckers). Other ideas on getting them to drop the price down are also welcome.]

Keeping in that facility wasnt something Konrad liked and was happy to leave.

Konrad wandered the streets looking for a possible ride and maybe the chance to have some entertainment with a cat eared girl on his lap to mlift his spirits.
The problem was finding an establishment that offered something like this that early at the day.

Looking through some shops he got the ping from Eddie with the location of the bar and headed that way.
Slowly walking his way to meet with the rest of the team, he noticed Eddies warning to Kenn in the Tacnet.

That wasnt good. Konrad new that sort of people he would going to meet soon. Not especially the Mother Truckers, but others that probably had the same personality. Spacers or Dirt Siders were the same, when you got them on the wrong foot. Prideful and easily offended if you used the wrong words and it seemed their alien teammate with his lack of knowledge about human society did choose the wrong words.
Even if they wont get angry an mop the floor with his team they would at least up the price for their service.
    Not a good start.

Walking into the bar, he noticed the table with his team and an alien hiding behind his slave / servant / comrade thing looking at an angry adriadnien woman.
Even walking through the greens with them hadnt brought an idea to Konrads mind how their relationship worked.

Thats bad, Konrad thought, the handfull adriadnian women he met in his life werent known to be the nice calm type of woman.
After the look at the situation he made a decision.
Walking to the barkeeper ordering a new round of drinks with a big tip he walked over the rest of his team.
Rather unimpressive and not as charming as Eddie he could still try help to diffuse that situation so they wouldnt be shot in the back.

Walking to the table and waiting for Eddie to make a break in his stories, remembering their first trip together, to introduce himself.

"I am Konrad and i am with that team, too and there are fresh drinks on my tap."

Looking at that woman, looking at Kenn, looking back at that woman.

"Mrs. It seems that our friend here said something that offended you may i have a word with him before you set him on fire?"

He takes Kenn at his shoulder steering him a few steps away to give him some advice in private.

"Friend, i dont know what you said but that woman is pissed of.
Dont try to explain, its not the place for it. I will try to apologize for you and calm her down or we will need for someone else to get us to our destination. You will better say nothing and we talk about this later."

With that he walks them back to the woman.

"Mrs. i want to apologize for my friend here. I am sure it wasnt his intention. Hes not from Neo Terra or something liek that. And believe me, you arent the first one willing to put him in an airlock without a space suit. You get used to it. Its something like getting a little dumb brother which needed his mouth shut with duct tape at family gatherings."

(And his big silent shadow.) Konrad added in his thoughts.

"So, Mrs. ... " Konrad waited to fill in her own name.
How about i treat you to a nice dinner as an apology for my friend?
And a couple of rounds for your friends, so they dont feel left out."

That big whammy from Kenn left Saito with a stunned, shocked look on his face. Plain for all to see, he was about to recover and try to diffuse the situation when Konrad came out of left field to do his part. As Konrad handed the drinks out, Saito's giest formed into a shadowy outline of a man over the private server of the team's comlog network to give a silent face palm, followed by a disappointed shaking of the head.

Kenn, we'll have to sit you down and explain the intricacies of human language later. As you're a stranger to our language, do not be afraid to sit down with us and converse. We're happy to talk with you. Teach you about human behaviour.

Sending the following message to Kenn's network directly as a message, time locked to be opened up in an hour.

(Private message for Kenn ONLY. Delivered in 1 hour game time from now.)

After spending time with you i get the feeling you're very socially awkward. While there is nothing wrong with it. Humans by their nature won't bother or communicate with each other if we don't give off very obvious, physical signs to each other, such as body language. This i feel is the reason we don't really talk with you. Because to us humans, you are broadcasting through your body language that you don't want to talk with us. So we respect your wishes and leave you alone. But if you want to talk with us, then all you have to do is say so. But if you want to talk to us, just come over and ask us questions. We'd be happy to talk and educate you on matters that you may be unfamiliar with.

Once Konrad led Kenn away, Saito himself stood up and apologised in a traditional Japanese bow. "My apologies ladies and gentlemen. Our friend is unfamiliar with the intricacies of human language and tends to take everything literally. But that's no excuse. Once again, i am sorry."

The comment changed Kenn's demeanor. Now he was worried about being backstabed or worse. How did the situation turn into life or death? He was just trying to warn his teammates of possible danger. What did he do wrong?
How had he "pissed off" the female Human? He didn't urinate on her. That is what pissed meant..right?
Perhaps the apology was a good idea. Better than nothing at this point. Whatever he said offended the female. Here he thought Women liked complementary flattery about their age. Guess this one wasn't one of them.
That was nice. He could use that information but if he didn't do something to change the situation around Kenn felt as he failed his team.
Ed sounded angry & stern. Sure the Male was warning Kenn of possible danger but it still hurt the Tohaa that the Bakunite felt as though the best course of action was Kenn shutting up. It reminded the Tohaa of his younger days. Not fitting in Traids, always being the one ostracized & kicked out in the end. Over time he began to hate this genetic makeup. His species' need to bond with someone or else mental problems. He felt he was better off without his kind.
During his military stint on Paradiso he saw Sygmaa in battle. He then realized the government propaganda of the Colonies being wiped out of Tohaa were lies. They seemed to not be persuasively coordinated with each other in attacking. They moved freely among the battlefield by themselves instead of in groups. Perhaps they figured out how to negate their species' mental effects. None seemed to be abnormal in their behavior. (Oh Kenn, not recognizing their cackling laughter for what it was. Crazy)

The plan didn't go so well. Kenn ended up lost in the death world jungle of Paradiso. Hoping to find a Combined Army attachment to capture him turned harder than he imagined. Not coming into contact with any high-intelligent species for 4-5 days had the Tohaa franticly scanning the areas he walked with pheromones. Hoping to find some living thing that was at his level of conscience. He only found beasts, plants, bugs & Igor. He began talking to Igor after the second day & it got worse as time went on. Soon succumbing to mental trauma in over using his hair fibers without proper rest the Tohaa fell into a coma. His body shutting down in order to preserve his system from suffering irreversible damage. Fortunately for Kenn his body was found by Humans not too long after he collapsed thanks to Igor's massive form standing over him. It turned out the Tohaa had been going to wrong direction since his lapse into mental breakdown. Humanity took him in and nursed him back to health. They weren't the species Kenn was looking for but at least they were focused on the independent as well as the group at large. Perhaps living among them was a blessing in disguise.
Back in the current time Kenn realized he had been daydreaming. Reminiscing about his past. He noticed that he was being lead away from the table where negotiations were taking place. Eddie's, Konrad's & Saito's statements had triggered this.
Remembering his failed traitorous awol attempt gone wrong gave Kenn the determination to speak up & attempt to fix this situation he had somehow caused. He wasn't going to let the past replay itself out again. This time he would succeed & maybe even fit in.

Pushing Konrad aside Kenn ran back to the table. Igor was standing in the same spot as before. Had not budged an inch due to not being given any pheromone orders. The occupants at the table didn't seem to mind the Chaska much. He kept away the rest of the establishment away from their section. All the better for privacy. That privacy was interrupted when Kenn rushed in & stood in the exact spot he was positioned before he was removed from the table. Standing next to Igor's right side.

Kenn Ta'al: "Listen up!" The semi-raise voice got the members at the table attention set on him. Eddie looked perturbed but also a little fearful at what the alien was going to do. Konrad was surrprised that the Tohaa was not taking his good advice. Saito couldn't believe that the Tohaa had escaped him & managed to make it back to the table in a quick fashion. Hearing the alien open his mouth once again had the ninja worried that the Tohaa was going to stun him once again.

Kenn Ta'al: "I understand that I have caused some...uncomfortableness for one of the parties involved here." Then turning to the female Mother Trucker, "Connie..." The woman was stunned that the alien used her name. "I'm sorry that you took my comment negatively. It's true I'm...I've not gotten used to your species' many idiosyncrasies & have done many faux pas. But I'm sure you all have been in those situations when you were young. Scared...not knowing if an action might reward with ridicule, praise...disappointment. Being laughed at or just anger those you are trying to get along with. I've had that happen to me many times before." Shaking his head he composed himself once again, "I'm sorry that my comment of referring to you as a female that looked as though she had not experienced childbirth in her lifetime was offensive to you." Then turning to the male Truckers, "And yes, I am as dense as a Dogface. And I think your clever use of profanity in naming your vehicular group is a stroke of genius." (He doesn't mean that) "You are all to be commended & praised as savants for your literary use of your mother tongue in such a cheeky way. Good job."

Then his confidant mood changed "Speaking of mothers...I wish mine hugged me &...cared for me more. Never even fit into my original Triad." After a few seconds of sadness the Tohaa composed himself. Then turned to face his three Human Merc partners.
"I know full well that I haven't been a help to you. If you thin I have then that's good cause...I surely don't. I've come across as weird, unhelpful, concerned with myself & my safety alone. Not being a team player. When was..When did I converse with any of you until now? I don't remember. Maybe I did but...I don't know. Ever since I stumbled into your species' corner of the universe I've struggled to make any ground on "friendships" as you call them. I'm just as bad as I was living among my own kind. Still I'm trying to conform. To change so...someone will like me. Actually like me but those attempts only make my task worse. I'm glad that Se-a-ito has offered help in this important category of life skills that I need to master. I will never forget his kindness nor any of yours." Turning his head to look at everyone seated at the table.

Kenn Ta'al: "So can we let..bygones be bygones?" Openly questioning if he said the phrase right. "Can we start over fresh with a clean slate & be friends?" Holding his right arm out towards the Mercs & the left one out towards the Truckers "What do you say?"

Coming back to issue a heartfelt, if some what clumsy apology, Kenn blundered his way through regardless. Saito took quick glances back and forth through his peripherals to gauge the Mother Trucker's reactions. Would he need to step in and elaborate? Saito decided it was better to wait and try to repair any damage from a misunderstanding. The last thing he wanted was for the truckers to understand the 'meaning' of Kenn's words, then have himself be the one to fuck it over by what would essentially, be himself repeating the same thing. Thereby insulting the intelligence of the Ariandians.

Konrad was polity rebuked by the female Mother Trucker at the offer of dinner. She did accept another round of drinks on the behalf of the other Mother Truckers though.

The new round of drinks was just being delivered as Kenn returned to the table and launched into his mini-speech. The Mother Truckers at first were ignoring the Tohaa but eventually everyone tuned in. There some nodding heads at what Kenn said and some even tipped their stetsons at Kenn in a sign of recognition (at least that's how Eddie explained the social gesture to Kenn).

"Sounds good to me, bud. Sit and have a drink on us." The lead Mother Trucker said motioning for Kenn to sit and passed over a pint full of beer and a shot glass full of a clear liquid. The other Mother Truckers lifted their own drinks up.

Eddie joined in hosting up a shot glass and looking, or one could say ordering, at Kenn, Saito, and Konrad to join in.

"To a fresh start on an alien world full of aliens looking to kill us and those looking to be our friends!" One of the Mother Truckers shouted.

Eddie@All Unless someone else has any ideas on how to broker this deal...

[Here is the final moment for anyone to put in or act on an idea to help deal with the Mother Truckers.]

Kenn was very happy that his heart-to-heart apology worked. The Mothers seemed to be pleased by his words. Including the actual female that he offended. Joining in with the Humans in their ancient bonding ritual brought with it a feeling of acceptance & belonging. That feeling that all Tohaa strive to achieve with someone. Now Kenn just had to increase his bonds with his teammates and truly earn a spot in their company of Mercs. At least he'd be living in better quarters than his current predicament.

Grabbing his shot and bringing it together with the others, "cheers." The sound of clinking glasses always conveyed a tone of merriment and this is what Saito was hoping for.

I've got an idea, let me lead. Konrad, sorry but I'm going to pry for you. We can't afford to pay this amount. Eddie, you can handle negotiations

"I can understand the need to inform certain members of the chain of command." Saito began. "However, aside from AED we can promptly inform 0-12 ourselves." Bringing up his arms to rest to them on the table, folding his arms in a business like manner. Saito leans forward.

"As we have contacts within the bureaus ourselves, this should lower the cost of transportation?" Saito gives a knowing look. And just like that, the ex ninja leans back and drinks the rest of his alcohol.

"My good Nomader here can pass along the details when he's ready. What else are is there in the financial department?"

The mother truckers exchanged glances between one another. The team's connection to O-12 certainly changed things

Konrad's newly made "friend" Dan Reid wasn't someone he wanted to lean but right now he was needed. He put in the call. It was a quick conversation and the team wasn't privy to all the details. A few seconds later one of the mother truckers checked a bulky and ancient touch pad. He passed it to the leader.

The leader glanced at it and scratched his stubbly chin. "Some kind of contact you have. We have a direct order from O-12 Coordinated Command to move you to Pulaski. Express transit with no stops and the paperwork to back it up."

He had a few words with his crew and all the mother truckers got up and left.

"Be ready to mount up at sundown," is all he said to the team as he got up and left himself.

    ++++
If anyone expected an eventful journey they were let down. The 6 hour journey from Zawacka to Pulaski was bumpy and uncomfortable on the jump seats in the Sterling Flatboat. There was a moment where things almost went wrong but it was a mix up by a patrolling element of Order of Montessa TAGs. The feeling that a blue or green incident was just narrowly avoided was strong though.

The mother truckers dropped off the team at the Pulaski aerodome right around dawn.

Pulaski was the second settlement to be established in northern Slydavia after Strelsau during the colonization of Paradiso to take advantage of the massive Borduria River. This made it much larger and older than Zawacka. Its old colonial roots still showed with multiple modular and quick assemble pods still stacked up and serving as apartments or the single ones lining some streets turned into restaurants and storefronts. Most of the quick fab buildings that came after were slowly transformed and changed as the town changed.

Part small port, bedroom community for Strelsau, orchards growing local Paradiso products, and hosting a few very mature remote manufacturers catering to forestry and water construction/exploration made it quite a diverse economy. Hypercorps like Compass and Pharmacorp have offices here. Compared to Zawacka, Pulaski was more well off and no atek community was present.

The war didn't change Pulaksi as much as other places. It just got a bit busier. The Nikolai Airbase attached to the aerodrome became the joint operation base shared between O-12, the PanOceania Airforce, and the Military Orders.

Saito had the address to Pedro's fathers place. It was a little further away near the Borduria River and was one of the many independently owned orchards. Seemed Pedro's father was doing well. The whole place was ringed by a small white outer wall. There was a front archway bearing the name Huerto de Samuel and a driveway that led further into the property. There was no gate or security.

Morning fog and its surprising coldness covered Pulaski. The beams from nearby streets lights and two attached to the orchard's archway bloomed and hung in the air like miniature suns. The orchards sitting on the edge of town, dominating whole swaths of land, and the beaten back jungle gave the whole place a somber silence.

[Ric and Saito need to give me Observation D2 rolls. Everyone else can attempt an Observation D4 if they'd like.]

It was a great, and by great he meant uncomfortable ride through to Pulaski overnight curstasy of the Mother Trucker convoy. Saito was starting to feel very tired, and the cool, foggy morning didn't help his lack of sleep on the trip over either. Saito took a quick, tired glance around, before turning his attention back to the team and asking, "how do we want to do this?" Then letting out a quick yawn.

He brought up the files on Pedro's father again to see if he could make out anything new, or different.

For Konrad the ride was realy relaxing, remembering his time at home, doing special cargo trips for his uncle.
Looking at the property Konrad got an idea:

With the orchard as cover we could send in Pappy and the Spotbot to get a better look and probably use the repeater to hack the home network to get more information before we do anything else.
