Don't we now have far better options to form link-teams? Everything and their grand-parents seems to be able to form or join a enomatarchos link. Does that mean that one can mix thorokatai and myrmidons in the same link?

    Steel Phalanx rundown:
Acmon: CC buff, gained Tac Aware, gained Wildcard
Dactyls: Cheaper across the board, no more SWC cost on Flammenspeer
Thamyris: Gained a B2 flash pulse, Pulzar, and Zero Pain
Agema: A couple points more expensive on all profiles
Thrasymedes: Gained wildcard, Stun Grenades swapped for a Zapper, lost the Nanopulser
Diomedes: Now is MI, gained NCO, lost Lt profile
Drakios: Now is MI, gained Berserk and Specialist Op, lost Free Agent
Ekdromoi: HMG is now a Spitfire (this seems to be a gamewide shift -- the Gao-Tarsos and Paracommandos also lost their HMGs for Spitfire variants), the Hacker now gets a B2 Chain Rifle and loses the Nanopulser
Nesaie: New NCO, DAM14 Multi Rifle, Nanopulser profile
Scylla: Now is MI. Got Trinity (+2 DAM), ECM (Hacking -3), and a pitcher on all profiles, one of them has an EVO hacking device
Teucer: Useless X-Visor gone, price significantly down on both profiles, got BS Attack(Shock), Shock Immune, and Triangulated Fire, lost Free Agent
    Thorakites: Largely unchanged
Ajax: Got a whole slew of buffs. He's now CC24 MA3 NBW CC(+1B) , Berserk, Mimetism(-3) and got an FD2 profile, but he lost the Dual combis (down to just one).
Hector: Cheaper across the board, Stun Grenades are now regular Grenades, Lt has +1 LT Order
Patroclus: Now HI. Funky Holo3 rule is gone. Spitfire swapped to an HMG, and the Nanopulser has been upgraded to a Pulzar. Gained NCO and BS Attack(+1 DAM).
Eudoros: Gained Shock Immune and +1B on the Nanopulser.
    Machaon: Gained Shock Immune
Myrm Officer: Essentially unchanged (was this guy in Vanilla before?)
    Phoenix: Cheaper, Shock Immune

Ajax didn't get CC+1B, he got BS+1B to simulate his old double combi, and also BS+1Dam as well. This also means he now has a burst 2 damage 14 nanopulser which is suddenly very scary.
Can't wait to try out his forward deployment profile with suppression turn 1. That's a chubby boy standing guard.

Eudoros also got specialist operative and number two which is excellent.

The base 20pt Ekdromoi also got the burst 2 chain rifle, that's potentially a lot of models to cover in template fire in N4 where you can split your templates.

Marksmanship LX is gone from the game entirely. He's got Triangulated Fire instead.

Achilles got a stealthy - and slight - cc nerf, since his MA4 doesn't give +1B now.

The performance of N4 MA4 is in general higher than N3 MA4, or at worst equivalent. Achilles has not received a CC nerf.

I'll take your word for it, haven't run the numbers for that yet. Either way it's not a deal breaker.

edit: for now the biggest impact comes probably from units being able to form Enomotarchos links on their own, and Acmon being Wildcard.

Ignoring Mimetism, cover, range, and SuppFire modifiers - while still using full burst - can be really useful.

Triangulated fire on a MSV troop with long range gun like the feuerbach doesn't seem amazing to me either. It's rare that you'll be shooting at terrible modifiers. Losing C+ also hurts Teucer a bunch.

I wish the Agema mk12 had gotten wildcard, but aside from that and Teucer, all these changes are great.

    wish granted XD

@Stiopa i thought MA give stealth anyway in N3 as a nested rule

with the return of the rest of the homerid combined with the changes to martial arts 3/4 being just a flat damage increase that feels to have little bearing in a MA2 CC fight, and a few matches using v1 armor, his price doesn't fully justify what you get vs just taking ajax [which is close to half the cost and has NBW+MA with same CC output in dammage].

I guess you could use Teucer's triangulated fire to play the range band game with a TAGs effective HMG range

its not amzing, its almost completely pointless (for him) unless they are point blank or the MSR is firing at something extreme range, AND they have cover....

would have been more interesting if he got a B1 or marksman instead

    Hello,
this is probably my first post on this forum. I am disappointed with "Aleph N4". You can see that the author of the profiles had no idea for this army.
    1) Achilles - turned from a super fighter to a moderately useful heavy infantry. Shoots well but hits much worse in CC than Chimer, MC Morrough, or other CC units. It still costs a lot, in the N3 the price was quality, in the N4 there is no quality.
    2) Ajax - I love this model, it needed refreshing and we got it :) Ajax now shoots better B3 S15 AP than it hits :) the hammer can be left at home. I thought it would be an interesting counterweight to MC Morrough and other Imm (t) units. Grenades are missing, he needed it! (I know he didn't have grenades in n3)
    3) Scylla - no "Cybermask" :), to form an opinion about her I have to play with it, but in "Vannila Aleph" Danavas seems better.
    4) Patroclus - I like this profile very much, smoke at 19! The HMG is great, however the AP spitfire would be more consistent, price quality seems ok because it has "2W" and is immune to shock. It's a pity that the earlier profiles are not as interesting as he is.
    5) Teucer - I don't see any use for Triangulated Fire, maybe it was supposed to have "BS Attack (Guided)"? Maybe the pistol was supposed to shoot from a distance?
The rest of the profiles do not bring anything new or innovative. I was counting on Ajax and all I have to do is watch it on the shelf.

    pzdr.

Berserk troops like McMurder has always been the counter to expensive CC troops like the A-man. He's not supposed to be a specialist, but an all-rounder of murder. His CC is still amazing, hitting with +7 explosive strength 18 takes many things down swiftly. He's still a beast in CC, just try to avoid units designed to take him down.

Ajax's hammer still has its use now as well. Berserk let's him get to enemies faster for order efficiency, and against a high armor/bts unit it's still much better to punch than to shoot with combi or nanopulser fire.

EVO Scylla is straight up amazing. Especially when paired with the Danavas.

Pat throws smoke on 16's. The +3 is only to dodge. Still amazing though.

Teucer got the short end of the stick though. I'm sure most will agree.

I think he got a sidegrade. I like the new version more, but ultimately it comes to personal preferences.

Shock immune is a wonderful addition to him, I agree.

Though, he compedes with the new Atalanta, that's a tough sell.

As I said, most characters got Inmunity to Shock (yet no one mentions that...). Before you say that upgrading them to straight 2W troops would be simpler and mostly the same, Mimetism -3 to -6 costs a lot in a HI troop (sure, we only have Achilles to compare, but...).

Achilles losing the 2nd melee swing is a little ouch, because it was an option against his preferred melee prey (non-melee HI and TAGs), but otherwise I don't feel like there needs to be a discussion for a troop we knew the profile weeks ago. His Duo option with Patroclus is, as usual, a poor protection for the big A (Patroclus not having Mimetism is a dead giveaway).

Scylla certainly opens more synergies than before, she's no longer a solo killer, but a team player. Losing cybermask is a hit, however, but 2 marker flamethrowing bots are much more dangerous than a single glue-sticking one (KISS), and they got the ECM (hacker) -3 too. Anyway, unless you need the EVO bonuses in a mobile platform that can shoot, I feel like the hacker is the better option (since she can kill other hackers and freeze and isolate HI).

Teucer is an interesting change. First, he is cheaper than before, keeps his advantage over Atalanta (NWI) and is closer to his HSN3 profile. Triangulated Fire is quite the consolation prize, and I would have preferred an X-Visor (at least for the feuerbach), precisely because a MSV2 troop gets much less from the skill than a non-visor one (like the Sensor Deva). The climbing plus being gone worries me little, since I always had much more important order-hoggers than a backline sniper; sure, he hunts better with more mobility, but I prefer to use my snipers as zone/vector negators and get close with the myrmidons.
I don't think, however, that he competes with Atalanta, mainly because of the weapon choice (MULTI Sniper Vs Feuerbach/K1, both adding Shock for free to all impacts).

Incidentally, the new options and point decrease on most heroes gives us more options to score in button pushing, and Hyppolita is a wildcard, so now we have to decide who goes with Achilles: Acmon to negate states, Patroclus or Hyppolita to have a second murderer, Hector for some reason (besides moving a plasma rifle, that is), etc...

One note here: you don't run Patroclus as a second Achilles. You run him as Acmon, and punish anyone who thought going after the softer target would be a good idea.

I think they differ enough to make both valid under different circumstances. Teucer is more durable and better against heavy armor, with Triangulated Fire allowing to solve some otherwise difficult tactical situations. Atalanta is better against light non-impetous troops, and her TR version can be an interesting defense.
