@Stiopa those ideas and concept are both excellent. Only thing I disagree with is teching-up the HI. Tomcats in particular would make a good fit for FRRM. A Parachutist doctor alongside Margot and Duroc miiiiiight be a bit OTT... but what the heck, this is N4 the We'll Figure Out Faction Balance Later Edition.
Paramedic is allready far more effective (+15%) on Duroc and only -5% effective on Margot (assuming Wip 13 Doctor) so I dont think that would be problem. Tomcats would be outshined by Paracomandos in most cases anyway, so I dont think it would bring anything new to the MRRF.
Here's a question for you MRRF vets - my understanding is sixth sense in N4 has lost the delay ARO ability (played little N3 but it looks like it was super good). This is notable for the Chausseur with its historically amazing combo of sixth sense and camo. So do people think that the N4 version of the Chausseur will have lost its previously ubiquitous place in the Ariadna pantheon? They still look like affordable, high utility camo infiltrators but I'm not seeing much synergy between sixth sense in N4 and being in marker state, unless I'm missing something. N3 it seems to have been standard to start any vanilla list with two - do you guys still see that being the case in light of the change?
The removal of Delay is a definite nerf to the Chasseur, but it was always a kind of janky interaction anyway. I caught a lot of people by surprise with it and there was always a bit of a "Wait, really?" reaction. 6th Sense is still potentially useful for ignoring stealth, and can be handy if you want to set up on suppressive fire, but it's definitely not the defining skill it was. On the other hand, Surprise Shot now works with the LFT, and the Chasseur is still a cheap Minelayer skirmisher with it's own DTW, definitely worth the 2 points over a Foxtrot still. I'll still take them, but I'm not starting every vanilla list with two of them, which is a good thing.
I, specifically, am one of those people you got that very reaction from. At GenCon I believe. It’s one of the reasons MRRF got moved to the top of my hobby list. Spent the last year playing them exclusively. Those two times I got to play.....
Sad for the new loups. I was expecting it but I had hopes for a less lazy update. Not convinced at all about the direction of the game.
MRRF Change Rundown: Paracommando: HMG is now an AP Spitfire, and they got a new FO Fat1 BSG profile, there's also a new SMG Paramedic. Default rifle picked up a Chain Colt Jacques: regular infiltration, and Molotoks are all Spitfires Loup-Garous: lost Stun Grenades, but they all have Haris now. The Stun LGL is now an LGL. (This is really sad, those profiles were fluffy and fun.) Metros: essentially unchanged Zouaves: now have FD2 instead of Mech Dep, and they all got Dogged. Briscard: The Sniper got AP and BS(Shock) Moblots infiltration profiles got slightly tweaked and they all got BS(Shock) Mirage-5 now has Parachutist(Dep Zone) Wolfgang: Added to the army
Welp, lazy update and the human turd that is Wolff got jammed into the army. There goes any hope of me picking up collecting the faction again. Zouave boost and Infiltration changes go a long way to helping out the gameplay at least. Seconding the feeling of total dissapointment regarding Loup Garou.
Its true that loup garous could have received more love, but in general im quite happy with the changes. Bruant getting mimetism, wildcard moblots, zouaves without the DEP SWC cost and getting dogged, durocs new deployment, briscards shooting through smoke etc... Makes me eager to play them again!
Jaques picked up Mimetism and Wildcard, those are both very nice buffs. Moblots getting AP rifles across the board and Wildcard, as well as their infiltration profiles picking up mimetism, those are super nice boosts. Zouaves losing their SWC taxes, getting Panzerfausts and Dogged? Win win. Overall, not as impressive as what other factions have gotten, but so far as i can see, everything is better than it was.
Everything looks fine, a little disappointed that nothing exciting happened but I'll happily dig out my FRRM at some point; if I can get over the shame of the bad paint job.
The Camoed Metro Panzerfausts are really good. Regular Daylami. A real contender for taking them in vanilla as well. Some Ltd Camo LSG Rokots/Metro Panzerfausts look real good.
Jauqes getting spec ops is also super useful. Putting him with a 19 point LG BS and Moblot HMG (or specialist of some variety) makes a good little Haris.
We already had some spoilers with the french units that got tasty upgrades or are still good in N4 (Mirage in the back!, Para-Commandos coming in well now, Anaconda ARM7, Chasseurs still hit for their costs, Knauf +1B and corregidor hacker for a good price). MRRF looks like a faction I can work with. There is enough there to bring them in the N4 era. - Moblots going everywhere as wildcards, we are one of the armies that can very cheaply push him up to having all the link team buffs. 5 burst HMG shots of 16 for only 60 points if you fit one Moblot with 4 Metros. 62 if you want the sapper and get a bit of mimitism for good measure when he digs in. And in a more armor orientated world it is good to have an infiltrator with E/M mines - Zouaves losing SWC tax, gets dogged and bringing some nice weaponry +8 inch up the board like HMG's and Snipers for a nice foxhole position or E/M mines and panzerfausts. Also some nicely costed specialists and paramedics can do serious healing now. - Briscards MSV 1 goes through smoke and a 19 points Heavy Rocket Launcher is a steal. - Bruant is nice! - Gaining Wolfgang with his 2 wounds and 5 shot multirifle when linked is nothing to sneeze at mid range. - AVA 3 112's and especially the bikes man...the bikes! - Infiltrating Metros with Panzerfausts for no SWC. I have faced to many Daylami now in N4 to say: this is huge! Throw away Aro pieces that can not be denied for cheap. Two wishes did not come through, but I am not salty about it. - Loup Garou should have got an E/M Grenade Launcher, but a regular one can hit. MRRF have enough options to target some silly dude and then you can bombard with some good accuracy. the point scramble there is not a big deal (1 point down, 1 point up depending on the profile). A viral rifle with X-visor in Supresión can still be a good pain in the ass. - So yeah, would have wanted the Moblot to become a heavier unit with NWI or something, but you would have to pay for it as well and as is they are now, can do work. BTS 3 is a strange phenomenon in Ariadna, so I will take it. MRRF looks like a light but well armed force that can position themselves well from the deployment phase on. Just as they like them to be.
