I had one game with Karhu and he did exceptionally well, blasting the Sogarat in two orders straight. The 6-2 movement helps a lot here since he can reach the firing position a lot faster. I am still yet to utilize his Climbing Plus to its full extent though.
Having played my fair share of Invincible Army, I'm inclined to think of Climbing Plus as a tool to get down from safe deployment or shooting spots. It's not that common for me to use it as a way to traverse terrain. But maybe is just the "table meta" I play in.
Climbing plus is so sweet and rather easy to use. The superjump however...... I have had some plays with my guijia misjudging the jump distance and totally ruin my order.
These are the two lists I've had really good matches with. First one is so strong I only play it against the better players (And I am a noob myself) in my group. Fusilier core with Haidao and CSU. Hawkwood Haris with Jujak and Kaplan as support units. The rest are just really solid solo pieces with guilang being able to deploy a repeater in DP. Guijia as a main push piece in a duo with the Haidao Engineer. (He can keep up 90% of the time, otherwise I just let him go behind some full cover) Kaplan HRL ARO piece in a Haris with Jujak and CSU. Having Jujak as Lt for the survivability. Guilang for counter hacking or to block of enemy TAG. Nisse and Varangian for some smoke tricks.
An interesting list. One question, just out of curiosity, what troop do you usually imitate when Táowù activates the Holomask?
I tend to switch it up and depending on scenario. He's been great keeping my Core protected from flankers by holomasking as a backup Fusilier or CSU. One time pretending to be a threat as Valerya. Will try out faking ARO threats as a Nisse or ORC next couple of games.
Played the Karhu Feuerbach by myself with similar results. He Took out a Kiel-San effectively with his 6-2 movement and NCO Order. I feel he can accomplish much with 5+1 Orders in combatgroup two.
That's a great point. I will try him in the secondary group. It's mostly Varangians and cheerleaders there anyway, and putting the Danavas in group one let's me coordinate some hacking with up to 4 troops. Nice.
I've tried three games with Karhu FB +1B as my Alpha striker and oh boy what a unit. Often hitting at 10 or more in burst 3 with msv 1 and mimetism -3 have taken out at least one dangerous ARO piece every game. After that, it surviving is just a bonus. Auto Include every time for me.
So I want to try out a list more leaning on the Hacking site of WC: Tactic would be to go for a strong repeater network and Spotlight AROs for the Clipper. What I might miss here are the Varangians and the lovely Karhu Feuerbach. Any thoughts or tips?
TR bot is your only high-burst weapon here. I am also not a fan of the Clipper so I'd swap him out and use the freed-up SWCs to bring the EVO hacker and include some 1-swc rapid-fire weapon like a Spitfire Kaplan. I would also replace the Nokk KHD with Haidao KHD who is both cheaper and more resilient. You may also want the Jujak with TinBot linking up with Valerya and Haidao so that they are harder to hack.
Yeah i do miss a HMG or feurback orc. Clipperbot is super good. You have midfield hackers/repeaters for the clipper. If you build around the clipper, getting pitchers close to enemy deployment zones may be neccessary. Even with bonuses from link to valerya, some misses would happen. And Danavas would be -6 one burst over 24." Since its deployable 2, a refill could be necessary. I have seen several players investing in a cheap baggage bot for refilling the pitchers. Of the models I would rate the Nøkken killer hacker as a weak model. If you want a nøkken I would recommend the forward observer. Not so expensive, specialist, and with a sweet BSG, panzerfaust and flash. I would also move something around on the models. Peacmeaker to group 2, gulang hacker to group 1
Hmm, the Clipper-Guided-Game was a central idea behind the list. Only possibility I came up with is to trade the 1SMC TR-bot for something like a Haidao Red Fury. Considering the Haidao KH is an interesting point. I tried to squeeze the -6 Tinbot in this list. Yeah, the one time I´ve tried the Nokk FO he had a really good run with his BSG. Now I´m affraid regarding deployment zone defence without the TR-bot.
How about changing the Sierra for an Orc HMG Lt.? It has SWC discount. I'd also put Valerya in the Fireteam, so that you can abuse 6th sense against stealthy units walking around the repeaters: Maybe something like this. I don't know how to form the combat groups though. I also preffer a Fusilier Paramedic instead of a Zhanshi Yiseng, because you're probably trying to revive the Orc and he gets up on 14s with the Paramedic anyway. And if you are shooting him with the Medikit, you get to roll twice (because of the B bonus of the fireteam) and if any of those passes, he gets up.
I'll be taking this list for a spin during the weekend. The mission will be Unmasking: Spoiler: List Fireteam Core: your usual 5-man goodness. Haidao is really good in the reactive turn, his job is to take care of the Decoys/Designated Target. Valerya can shoot a Pitcher next to some console as well to ARO enemy Hacker trying to push a button. The Orc is muscle for the active turn, or a secondary ARO for reactive (i.e., he covers the Haidao's blind spot). Fusilier Paramedic shoots LIFE BULLETS that revive the Orc on 14s. Guilang Hackers: HDs are really good now, and Guilangs are amazing. If you put them togheter it's a win-win. They get +3 MOD to WIP and two rolls for the consoles in this mission. Nokken Spit: I'm trying it out for the first time, he's supposef to be the DataTracker. Seems like a really good shooter if you can avoid visors. Taowu: the mastermind. I haven't tried Counterintelligence before, but the mission seems to favor going first and he helps mitigate the use of Command Tokens against you. Plus, the new Strategic Use of the CT while going first plays really good into it (you can reserve an extra model for deployment.) He'll pass as a Danavas or sometihng like that, IDK. Peacemakers: absolute units. In offense, they are devastating, trade up and are amazing Alpha strikers. In defense, they serve as walking mines that can protect the civilians (or avenge them, at least.) They are also Repeaters, and that's important. Varangian: smoke boi warband goes powpow. Fugazis: cheerleaders. Flash Pulse got buffed, since Stun Ammo impacts force you to make two saving rolls against BTS. Also, Repeaters. Spoiler: The plan I'd like to take first turn and eliminate the opposing DataTracker if possible (keeping both Peacemakers as reserve models). If not, I'll look to take shots at peeking AROs while pressing buttons. Turns two and three are mission time. If i can't take first turn (because PanO units's WIP is a joke) the Haidao MSR, Fugazis and Peacemakers should slow down the enemy down and keep both the DataTracker and my Designated Target alive. Maybe there's a case for giving the DataTracker job to Taowu if going second, since he can play a reverse Uno card in assassination atempts. Thing is, he then has to take out enemy Designated Targets at point-blank range. Of course, all can (and probably will) go wrong, but that's the fun of Infinity right? So, what do you think? I'll get you guys a batrep as soon as I can!
Seems solid. I must admit that im really unshure about Taowu. Counterintelligence is good, but he just seems to expensive for me. For the same point you could have a Nøkken FO with BSG, panzerfaust.(can only deploy 4 " up in this mission though). On the plan: datatracker is usually a hard model. My last games the datatracker has been Hi or TAG. It could be difficult to get a peacemaker to get the job done. My games into this mission as first player has usually been; kill aro and do mission. But depends on mission and oponent army.
