Since N4 launched, I've heard people talking in very positive terms about the Muyib with Rocket Launcher and tactical awareness. While this figure has always been a mainstay of the Muyib link team, dubbed "Rocket Launcher Hero" when I play him, I can't see why the N4 update would make him particularly good, especially in vanilla. He can't outrange a HMG, and has a low burst - what exactly is he supposed to accomplish? The Nadir is far superior at AROing against link teams, and a HMG has a much better burst. And even in Bahram, in a link, his irregular order would be wasted, right? I ran him in a vanilla list the other day together with a Lasiq sniper, who costs about the same, and she just seemed superior, being able to both outrange almost every opponent and getting better F2F odds due to her mimetism. Sure, his Dogged is nothing to scoff at, but again - his burst and range band are both pretty poor, so what is he supposed to accomplish with his dogged? What, outside a link, do you even use a rocket launcher for?
I've been tossing him in a link precisely for the Tactical Awareness. An extra order to spend on the fireteam is welcome. Occasionally he even fires his rocket launcher, but really only if he catches a mook at an unexpected angle. And from outside 24", otherwise Yara will perform the execution. So yeah, mostly he's there for the cheapish extra order. My main problem is that when I go second, I have a hard time resisting the urge to put him out on ARO. So then he dies in short order and reduces my link size. I think he would probably be better spent guarding a sideways firelane to prevent unexpected flanking attacks. All in all, I haven't yet decided whether I prefer him over the other options for 5th links member. He's definitely the least important of those five guys. I might try replacing him with a Ghulam doctor, Muyib minelayer, Leila, or an Asawira. Outside a link, I wouldn't even consider him.
The Heavy Rocket Muyib was always a mainstay of my links, even after Hassassin links became more varied. As the ARO unit in the link, the HRL forced a lot of my opponents to waste orders. But, I must admit most of the time (like all Hassassin units) this unit is a glass cannon. One bad roll and the Link was now down a unit. Note: I use this profile in link teams and rarely ever as stand alone. But, when I did use the HRL as singular unit it tended to annoy my opponents because a in cover (ARM 5) Religious unit with Dogged is obnoxious to deal with. Comparing the HRL Muyib with a Nadir is a little unfair as their roles are very different. I'm assuming your referring to the AP Marksman version when it comes to AROs. I'm more questioning the Spitfire profile with Tactical Awareness as I had basically replaced this profile with a Asawira Spitfire in most of my link builds in N3. But, the additional order provided by this profile may change that.
Not sure what you mean here, Tactical Awareness specifically lets you spend the extra order while in a Fireteam, as long as that trooper is the Leader. Same goes for NCO and the Lt. Order.
Muyib HRL have x-visor, so he can outrange a HMG, better yet if he's inside a link, besides that, bioimmunity gives him "armor" 6 in cover. but i would use it only with a link.
Most people are comparing the SMG + Flamenspeer or Panzerfaust variants of the Nadir for ARO duty. The Flamenspeer is almost exactly the same as the Heavy Rocket Launcher, differing only in Burst (less relevant for ARO) and in being disposable (2). The main difference between the two profiles in ARO is the fact you can surprise your opponent with the Nadir's location while they will know to be mindful of their spacing when maneuvering against the Muyib.
As other said before, to me this guy is an ARO piece in my hassasin lists, I used to deploy two of them, one in haris and other in the core. Now I play a single one. I'am confident in te ARO capability of the daylamis now, but he give me and extra. Too it force the enemy to no deploy his forcer too close one to another in that small roof. The "extra order" is not a requisite to bring him in the list, but it will be allways wellcome. I think this profile works only in a fireteam, core or haris. As a solo piece we can have some other and better profiles in vainilla, or even in hassasin, like the lasiq "viral" snipper, because mimetism.
So, Haqq Snipers are bad and now Burst 3 Heavy Rocket Launcher with Tactical Awareness and X Visor in a five man link are also bad? But, a Daylami with a Panzerfaust is clutch? lol
You seem to be aiming for sarcasm, but I'm not sure why you think those statements are contradictory. Muyib HRL is fine, but even his staunchest supporters wouldn't argue that he's anywhere near as amazing as the new Daylamis.
Not to be excessively pithy but even setting aside how good camo and infiltration are, six points is a lot less points than twenty five points. (However it does strongly seem that Natysmir doesn't fully understand the Muyib profile)
Given the big buff to new Daylami as well as Hassassin's very flexible link options like the Ghulam NCO & Yara, do you at all miss the 'old' Mutts which I feel are pushed out by their profile changes as well as the 15 model limit?
I wouldn't say I miss them. Especially as a primarily vanilla player, there's super broad variety now in how you can play your cheap irregular options. That said, even in hassassins, daylami haven't totally edged out mutts. The shotgun + e/marat mutt at 9pts is a serious potential menace and I'm writing some lists that take two of them for when I really, really don't want elite HI or TAGs ripping my guts out on turn one. That said you absolutely cannot go wrong with a Hassassin group two of like 1x fanous REM and four daylami. It's sweet.
Yeah having that regular order around foor coordinated panzerfausts is really useful against strong ARO pieces. Has saved my bacon against a particular annoying Cateran Sniper.
The 15 order limit and the nerf on muttawia, killed them, obviously you can still use them, and obviously they can work but that slot feels bad guys, at least for me. I just go with daylami or nadhir only 2 shoots way to stop big problems insite haqqislam. To be honest we play the HRL muyib for the tactical Awareness. For example if tactical Awareness were on the muyib viral mines or the medic the lists would be different right now. I'm not saying that the HRL is bad, I like them, but I keep our feet on the ground, just realistic. In the other hand we got the Muyib spitfire, he's good too, but for 5 more points we got the asawira, 90% of the time we are gonna pick the asawira for sure.
That seems to be a bad comparison. I only bring this up because Disposable weapons on an ARO unit is by nature a limited threat. Mind you, this statement is coming from someone who loved the original using Daylami Panzerfaust LC/LI profile.
I generally don't plan to have an ARO unit stick around past the second order they are involved in anyways so I don't consider Disposable (2) to be of major concern. If the Shujae survives to shoot both rockets I'm quite happy considering the first shot was on my own terms from Hidden Deployment rather than the piece my opponent was entering LOS with the expectation of getting shot on their terms.
