Thank you. I was worried that there might be something genuinely useful and that I'm just too brain-damaged to understand.
It can be handy, for paperwork is boring and you do have better things to do. Trying to apply an incorrect methodology for a situation, however, is asking for trouble, and the documentation is often there for a reason. Agile's overhyped, but often genuinely useful for appropriate projects.
Basically, it's just another tool in the box. But as any tools, it as a specific purpose and a specific way of using it. As often, people want to use the shiny thing because it's shiny, not because it's what's needed. Also, I think that one of the concept is forgotten most of time, scrum's goal is to deliver something in a specified period of time. Not to deliver everything that has been listed.
It's useful if you want to have new release every week or two to show the progress and keep the hype. But I was working for the conpany that tried to implement embedded software with scrum. Hardware. Embedded. Software. With. Scrum.
I have a metaphor of my own: A method is a hammer. With a hammer you can do plenty of things: - plant nails - remove walls - fix orbiting satellites - shape magnificent luxury car body - shape diamonds - ... But for any of the above you still need: - to choose the appropriate hammer - to have it handled by the appropriate people
We've been doing a lot of decorating at home this past few weeks. The previous occupants left us some walls which had 4 god-damn layers of wallpaper. 4! With an embossed pattern, too. And some of them couldn't be stripped, even with a steamer. It's like they melted a whole horse skeleton to stick that shit up.
Shergar? Meanwhile, in Glasgow: Glasgow Clyde College is doing a course on Batman. Because of course they are.
Yeah I noticed that there's something concrete inside but it's wrapped in a morass of buzzwords possibly devised mostly/solely so marketing specialists have an excuse to keep taking money for it.
Not so much marketing but Consultants that can come in, set up a bunch of practices and systems that seem effective at first blush, then collect their exorbitant fee and leave before the house of cards comes crashing down.
So it's the embodiment of "Consultancy: If you aren't part of the solution, there's money to be made prolonging the problem." ?
Try warm water with vinegar first. Had to do the same with the wallpapers from some older people here. Around 5l of warm water with a bottle of the cheapest vinegear essence i can get from a discounter helped alot before using a steamer. You should ask Ursula von der Leyen on inside tips on "How to f+++ up with consultants. Seriously.
Tips for fun at work: Let your resident lesbian work with an incel. Its mostly hilarious until someone gets hurt. For more information, my unit is understaffed again at this time of the year and normaly we work in pairs or alone. So its mostly on of us with a guest from an other unit mostly for a week or day, depending on the other units needs. Noone of use new that guys personality, he switched shifts and hadnt been in our unit before. My workmate is a lesbian and married to a woman, short hair alot of tattoos all over her body, somebody you could see at a rock concert, if you look down. She is more on the small side like 1,50 m and around 45 kg. She is in her early 40s but looks younger, as she is really into sports especially running. Nice personality over all, we have nice chats about her pets, joking around, just a normal workmate for me. Cut to that guy. Not looking bad or something until he opens his mouth. He had to be seperated from the woman in my shift or he would have ended castrated and burned at a stak. Had to work the rest of the shift with that guy and never wanted to punch someone that bad in ages after hearing his misogynistic slurs for 10 minutes.
Gender-based offenders should be reported to HR. Or to pavement level, if the office is on 3rd+ floor.
Yes, it does. At least he wont reproduce that fast. Doesnt work like that over here. He would need to step out of line and you need a witness or nothing will happen. At least nothing official. My supervisor can warn him and give him jobs without much contact to others but thats it. We are a male dominated company producing automatic gears. There is still alot toxic masculinity around. Especially units without females. Its not much of a liability. If he steps out of line he is gone but that didnt happen, yet. On the other site, there are units with more females than males. I dont want to work there either.
Oh hey, it's an Assault Pistol IRL. Or possibly, given what I hear about the quality of some Kel-Tec products, a Kuang Shi...
