I just wanted to check in and see if I was paying some weird Australia tax™

I noticed an advertised RR price difference between Kaldstrom and Wildfire for me through current distributors with a $67 increase on Kaldstrom. That seemed like a pretty arbitrary price hike given that I'm pretty sure there's more metal in Wildfire with the bigger models. As far as I know it's still 14 minis plus the 3mm cardboard terrain so there shouldn't be what came to like a 25% markup difference between the products.

Was this for all international customers or is someone in the supply chain pulling the Games Workshop dirty on me for being Australian?

Your suspicion could be correct. I checked US retailers and they mostly show a RRP of $130 US for both sets. I thought Kaldstrom might have been higher because of the Code One rules, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

In Polish distributor's store both Wildfire and Kaldstrom, core sets, Beyonds and the Get-It-All-At-Once sets are all the same price, to the margin of 1-2 PLN (probably rounding errors at conversion or simply one is a 499 "Walmart" price and other 500 price).

Kaldstrøm was the same price in € as Wildfire. They are both a little more expensive than the previous boxes due to the terrain.

Could is be that the distros have discounted Wildfire to get rid of OOP stock?

No, same price as it was on release. I should know, I bought 6 boxes of Wildfire from that distributor.

    That seems...excessive.
    Why so many?

I'd guess because of the terrain and splits with other people wanting just minis?

I buy the preorder kits in bulk and then take the limited edition stuff out of them and sell the splits off to recoup part of the cost. I add the limited edition stuff to a pile to use as prize support for local events. I didn't do it with Kaldstrom this time around though, was a little bit offended by the Kunai profiles, but it was mostly down to the uncertainty with the pandemic.

I hung onto the wildfire stuff though this time around. I have friend who runs league stuff for the local 40k crowd and I've offered to donate a bunch of kits to him to set up an infinity escalation league. Between that and some leftover stuff I have from cold front and red veil I'm hoping I can introduce another 16-20 players to Infinity.
