    Hey everybody,

in a game yesterday the following situation occured:
    - my Evader in NWI was in total cover prone behind a low wall
    - My Daktari used Doctor to heal him back up to 1 Wound

    The Question:
Does the Evader automatically cancel the prone state after being healed?

    Reason:
    The new Unconscious rules state:
► Cancelling the Unconscious state automatically cancels the Prone state.

The new NWI does not replace the Unconcious state but instead alters it with new rules:
► The Unconscious State of Troopers using the No Wound Incapacitation Special
Skill has the following special rules:

If he wasn't Uncon, he doesn't do what Uncon says. Unless NWI says healing out of it cancels Prone, he does not get up.

I think what you are looking for is a bit further down in the NWI rule on page 106, which indicates that you "ignore the effects and null label of the Unconscious State, treating it as Normal State instead."

That's why you don't go prone when you enter unconscious or stand up when you leave it.

The Problem is that the cancellation of Prone is not under the Effect part of Unconcious but under Cancellation. That part is not ignored, as far as the paragraph you mentioned goes.

You never are Unconscious if you activate NWI. So it doesn't matter where it is.

So I think you are reading NWI on page 106 like this: NWI is a set of replacement rules that persist within the unconscious state, therefore you should stand up when it goes away.

But if you look at the special skill cancellation (next to last bullet), it specifies what happens when you heal (gain a wound and become normal state). i think this is yet another replacement effect, short circuiting the stand up from prone as it specifies what you do to cancel the state. This kind or replacement is allowed for in the unc rules (next to last bullet), but its a bit clunky.

Because it is a mediocre ARO piece that spends much of the enemy turn prone and unconscious?

Well, honestly it was often a coin toss.
Either it wasted a massive amount of orders from the enemy or it would go prone and do nothing, due to someone coughing at it and causing it to fail guts.

To add to the question...does a model that was already prone before falling unconscious have to stand up too?
RAI it seems so, but that is also really stupid, if its true.

Yes it does, the Prone state is cancelled at resolution.

It’s the same result seen in CodeOne: When you cancel unconscious, you cancel Prone whether you want to or not, whether you were Prone for another reason or not.

Until/unless CB decides to errata a “may choose to” into that sentence.

Yeah I see it the same way and would play it like this, but I can already see that this will come up in tournaments I play or organise, so it would be good when CB stomps it out before it comes to it.
Thats the problem. As the rule is written currently NWI only alters unconscious and does not completly replace it. This is indicated by this wording:
The Unconscious State of Troopers using the No Wound Incapacitation Special Skill has the following special rules:
Maybe a better wording would be:
Instead of the normal Unconscious State of Troopers they enter the No Wound Incapacitation State with the following special rules:

    Thought about it this way.
Have you seen the new Unconscious marker? It has a little "Prone" on the top.
If you remove that marker by healing the trooper, you also remove the prone bit.

Do Dogged or NWI markers have the tiny "Prone" linked? Nope...

    Here you are your answer...
