BS Attack (Guided) says: ► Troopers with the BS Attack (Guided) Skill listed on their Unit Profile: ► During the Active Turn, they may perform a BS Attack against a target in Targeted State, without requiring LoF. They will perform a BS Roll with a +6 MOD, ignoring all other MODs except those imposed by ECM or TinBots to Guided Attacks. ► Unless the Skill itself indicates otherwise, the B will always be 1 regardless of the actual B value of the Weapon or any MODs applied to the B. ► This BS Attack always applies the Impact Template (Circular) Trait, even if the weapon used does not have the Trait. ► The distance to the target cannot exceed the weapon’s maximum Range. ► The target cannot be in an enclosed room, a possible trajectory for the Attack must always exist. ► BS Attack (Guided) has a limit of 5 Attacks per Turn for the Active Player. ► Only weapons that use the BS Attribute may be used with the BS Attack (Guided) Skill. It looks to me that this means any firing mode may be used and will automatically gain the impact template, so a guided missile can fire with AP+EXP ammo from hit mode, even though normally blast mode (which lacks AP) must be used to have a template.
So the thing about guided weapons always having a burst of 1 when using guided attack negates the extra burst from being in a fireteam? OSS's Samekh has gotten wildcard so I wanted to ask to be 100% sure.
Fireteam burst bonus is a MOD that does not specify it can be used during Guided, so the OSS Samekh gets B1 when using Guided even in a Fireteam.
By my count, this is the second thread that appears to be expressing surprise that Guided is "add Impact Template (Circular)" instead of "you can only use Impact Template (Circular) firing modes".
It seems like it was added for the guided MULTI sniper, but 1. I don't think that weapon needs to exist and 2. there are other ways that could have been expressed in the rules.
At least this way it can be extended to other weapons if CB want. Guided Feuerbachs or even Blitzens could be a fun alternative loadout for a Spotlight list.
It was more likely added because going to straight EXP was plausibly a nerf to the SML DA+AP versus certain HI and TAGs.
Chaksa Auxiliar HRL can shoot its Light Shotgun in Guided mode for sillyness. There's no reason to however, in Guided mode the HRL is better in every way.
It’s mainly because a ‘Guided MULTI Sniper’ doesn’t exist. :-( See the last bullet of BS Attack (Guided), handily quoted in Toadchild’s first post. ;-)
I mean, it effectively does, because Nox have a MULTI Sniper with the BS Attack (Guided) skill. Pistols and shotguns aside, I think that's the only intentional guided weapon that doesn't inherently have a circular impact template. In any case, I do think that this is a little weird, but probably doesn't actually break anything.
Sorry, I didn't explain properly. :-( Because BS Attack (Guided) is now a Skill and not a weapon type or Trait, it has to add the Impact Template Weapon Trait to allow it to work with MULTI Sniper Rifles on options that have the Skill.
