The Khawarij's higher DAM will matter against softer targets where Yara's AP will remove less than 3 ARM. But yeah, to my mind the Khawarij is pretty clearly inferior to Yara, which is why I've focused on Yara vs. Mukhtar.

Yes, the stats were run with Yara at arm 6 due to bioimmunity and cover.

I've started running the smoke numbers. My hideous dice calculator doesn't like running a lot of dice, so it will take a while (54 minutes each for these 4 vs. 3 fights!). Interestingly, on this particular matchup the Mukhtar has an unexpected disadvantage vs. Yara - it tries to put the Tik on -15, which is reduced to the max -12, effectively taking away its Mimetism. So Yara is going to come out the clear winner here, rolling 16s vs. 3s compared to the Mukhtar's 13s vs. 3s. But that effect will only happen in a scenario where the reactive unit is facing smoke, cover, and bad range all at once, and has 13+ BS.

    Here's Yara shooting through smoke:

Active unit inflicts 3+ wounds: 4.38%
Active unit inflicts 2+ wounds: 20.75%
Active unit inflicts 1+ wounds: 55.75%
    No wounds: 35.16%
Reactive unit inflicts 1+ wounds: 9.09%
Reactive unit inflicts 2+ wounds: 3.19%

For ease of reference, these were her numbers without the smoke.

Active unit inflicts 3+ wounds: 2.38%
Active unit inflicts 2+ wounds: 12.96%
Active unit inflicts 1+ wounds: 43.33%
    No wounds: 43.03%
Reactive unit inflicts 1+ wounds: 13.65%
Reactive unit inflicts 2+ wounds: 4.02%

So, not a huge difference. Extra 12% to wound the Tik, and 5% less likely to be hit herself. The Tik is already mostly relying on crits even without the smoke, and the smoke doesn't change the crit odds, hence its fairly small effect on the outcome. The smoke will make a bigger difference in a more even matchup.

Of course, if you have smoke down then there's even less reason to fight the Tik. Just ignore it :-)

Damn, that sucks for the Khawarij, as to my mind (and I think others) that was a better profile. At least the non-MSV2 Mk12 is a specialist, so it has that going for it versus the other with its visor and NCO.

Depending on where the smoke is, I'd even go for a Coordinated Order with a Namurr and 1-2 other Troopers. Each hit with the EM CCW is going to have around 70% chance of crippling it!

Just for clarity, the Khawarij is better against targets with ARM up to 5, equal for ARM 6, and progressively worse for ARM 7 and up.

Does a linked Muhktar(Haris) have any significant difference on the stats?

It shouldn’t make a massive difference, going from B4 to B5 isn’t usually much of an increase in odds.

Does Burst increase have diminishing returns the higher the amount? Curious to know the increase B5 to B6 actually has in odds.

It sounds like then maybe a switch from classic Mukhtar Haris to solo Mukhtar red fury might be in order then.

And yes, there are statistically diminishing returns as +1B becomes less relevant the higher starting burst you have (e.g., twice as many shots with an ML).

Hmm, well that’s the first time I’ve managed to get @toadchild’s dice calculator to give an error message in years!

Trying to give the Kriza Borac a B5 HMG to get B6 total didn’t work!

But yes, 3 to 4 is still noticeable, 4 to 5 is less, 5 to 6 should be low single figure percentage points.

I just tried the same thing, was just curious to see if B6 was really “game-breaking”.

I agree that it's more pronounced on a more even matchup, but that looks like a pretty big difference to me, especially the numbers for the Tik doing damage. Going from 13 down to 9 is only 4%, but that's still a big change.

A duo with a doctor is also a strong option. Or you can stick with a haris, just recognizing that the bonus is biggest in ARO.

I still find the Muhktar Haris to be pretty strong still. I find the new make-up for one to be different than before. While before the Viral was always given due to having Haris, I could see now having RF+Hacker+Doc to really double down on anti-armor.

I have a hard time passing up forcing up to 8 saves with a haris viral rifle; in N3 I used viral rifle + red fury + Leila Sharif, a glass cannon for any 1 wound target. You could also swap Leila for Yara if you have points, but losing a specialist and mines...I'm not sure. Now I'm waffling again! I feel like there are too many good LI and MI in that 30ish point range and then I have no room for HIs.

I love the Viral too, but with the new meta I think loading up on tools to take out TAGs is necessary. Viral can work for a lot of HI, but against TAGs not as reliable. If I need the SWC, I’ll probably take Viral+Doc+RF.

I think my new plan is something along these lines:

    Group 1
Defensive core team of Ghulams (NCO, FO, ML, Naffatun LT, and Leila Sharif)
Attack haris team of Mukhtars (RF, VR, Rouhani*)
    Nahab SMG KHD infiltrator
    Hakim SMG + Nasmat

    Group 2
    Shihab
    Tuareg hacker
    Rafiq rifle+LSG on overwatch
    WarCor

There was some discussion about taking the Mukhtar doc for anti-armor duties. I think Rouhani is a good option for this also, with this weapon swapping +1 DAM for +1 B, and swapping Mimetism and 10 points for Flash Pulse and +1 WIP.

Some good AROs from the Ghulams, Shihab, WarCor, and Rafiq, with Mukhtars to do the business, Nahab is grab objectives, and Hakim to grab objectives and heal Mukhtars and Nahab. I didn't go for the Hakim in the past but given the improvement of medikits and his increased burst, plus the removal of AHD in favor a general HD, I think I'm going to try him rather than the near default Tuareg doc and go with Tuareg hacker.

I am torn on Nahab infiltrator versus AD. In this list I already have the Hakim and Tuareg starting off the board, so a third cuts into orders. But I feel like the infiltrator is a pretty juicy 30 point target with only ARM 1; concerted effort or some warbands at a fraction of his price could get him. What's our feeling about AD versus Infiltration on Nahabs?
