I am so glad you mentioned this! So, unless the RPG has(and it likely has because CB has a questionable attention span when it comes to their own established material, rewriting things to make it seem more edgy/relevant) overwritten this? "Dawn" is the planet. "Ariadna" is the central continent...and the name imposed by the Cossacks at the end of the Separatist War for a single, 'unified' nation. "Rodina-Matr" is the name of the Cossack nation, of which "Matr" is the capital. Fluff-change, blah blah blah, Merovingia and Caledonia and USARF kick the Russians out of Ariadna(the nation), Russians just shrug and continue on as they think they are still The Bestest. Bonus: It opens a new spot for Teh Warring Varangian Guard are an O-12 unit that are specifically called out as being a mercenary company of Caledonian nationals. Likely, SpectralOwl is referring to Kosmoflot being a hodgepodge of stuff. The units might be native to Ariadna, but it seems extremely cherrypicked much like NA2s have been to include 'most recent' releases.
Yeah, the format of Kosmo looks totally like an NA2 kitbash. Is there a possibility of more units coming for Kosmo, not just models for those profiles already announced? I think so. Maybe that would give the faction more of it own style and character.
This exactly. A few loaners here and there aren't an issue, Onyx is pushing it but still has the Umbra, Sygmaa, Nexus and various Batroids as a point of distinction, including a few unique Characters. Kosmoflot has only five Units not pulled directly from elsewhere, and no special profiles or transformative applications for these many loaners, which is a pretty poor showing for a core faction Sectorial release. In fact, I'd argue NA2 has made a better effort lately; at least they usually get their mercenary captains to themselves! In theory I'd like to see a reignited Ariadnan Civil War as it could be a very interesting plot thread and material for further online campaigns (of which I am a big fan), but as a YJ player at the pointy end of Uprising I don't really trust CB to manage that kind of delicate situation anymore.
I should ignore you because my answer doesn't fit? No. It's the way you express yourself, where I suspect your dislike has more to do with Russia than the game. Kosmoflot is not purely "Russian"; but a unit of all. Ok, I admit that USARF really does not represent much. I think. I don't now the Fluff at the moment; wait of the book. Comes at weekend. What I want every Month: Kosmoflot. ^^
If we are getting an Operation box, as folks believe, then I think we are getting a named Dire Foes character too. At the least.
It would also fit if they mirror this year's C1 release schedule. Operation:Frozen Void Beyond Frovo Dire Foes: In Spaaace! Support Pack (probably repack of current Ariadna one) Remote Pack (Muls) TAG (A mystery atm for Adiadnoflot) Booster 1&2 Hero blister Having Kosmoflot be the base for Ariadna in C1 also lets them be more varied than CA (Shas), PanO(SWF), and Yu Jing (WB) have been.
As much as I want an "RM200," I would be surprised if the tag slot isn't taken by Polaris Team. Also, I'd love new Muls. Maybe a DARPA robot reminiscent model better suited for operations in space.
I'm undecided, Polaris might be a bit *much* for C1 in terms of rules, I half expect to it to an N4 release before/alongside the Kosmiadna C1 releases.
Can you actually read? Kosmoflot is something I'm disliking for a variety of reasons. I don't dislike Russians as a people(nice attempt at that smear)...but I do dislike things that their country has been involved in. Same as my own country. What I immediately dislike with regards to Kosmoflot is retroactive continuity(also known as 'retcon') changes that are done strictly for convenience on the part of CB's release schedule. The Ariadnan Expeditionary Force, as introduced in "Campaign: Paradiso" presented a far more interesting concept. With the 'rebuilding' of Merovingia, fluffwise(that means 'in the lore'), that went alongside of the introduction of USAriadna to the Sphere(previously, they were 'too busy on their frontiers' with Antipode incursions to devote more than the token of Minuteman, Van Zant, Foxtrot, and Airborne Rangers that we saw)...the AEF would have been a wonderful way to showcase a combined force without it needing to be so Russocentric that even the name has to be Cossack for some weird retconning purpose.
Does it really though? PanO has a few non-SWF units(Akalis, Swiss, Aquila, Cutter) and a few multi-Sectorial units. Code One's "army lists" being mostly tied to the 2P starter contents and suggested supplemental purchases shouldn't be too surprising. Not when they're pressing the Action Packs made up of said 2P starter contents hard. Don't forget though that they are literally releasing 2 action packs(Nomads and Ariadna) in advance of next year without Code One too. Would be nice if they'd just hurry up and do Code One lists for everyone so we can move on. You might want to have a word with the 'Dire Foes' set that is Knauf and Arslan, because if there's a 'character set'? I wouldn't be shocked if it goes that route. Remember this: There are 2 new Unknown Ranger profiles. There's a Defiance character("Firestrike"). There's William Wallace. There's Uxia. That's just in Kosmoflot.
November TAG and price (33,95 for sphinx and blue wolf, 44,95 for cutter and zeta) were in today's CB newsletter :
Blue wolf and Cutter are gorgeous, Sphinx is cool but I gotta say Zeta is a no no for me (weird and inconsistent design). Nonetheless great jo CB!
As we were afraid, Zeta lost most of the torso detail. Such a shame :| Blue Wolf and Cutter are excellent, the Sphinx is too much like an upscaled Shas trooper.
