Hi, seeing that the Marut has dropped considerably in price in N4 how do you guys look at possible new lists. From a Vanilla perspective we are currently lacking Thorokatai (or at least I am not able to find them) among other things which I previously used to support it.
Thorakitai are there. Marut is awesome. EDIT: They removed the Thorakitai, probably because they had double 360 visor. Lets see what happens. In any case, you don't need Thorakitai for Marut. All you need is a Myrmidon or two, maybe Myrmidon Officer for CoC.
I loved the Marut in N3 and with a 21 point and 1 SWC discount, she is definitely gonna strut around on her high heels :)
Holding Posthumans in reserve will still be fun. Parvati is a great support option for Marut, too. Fairy Dust now comes in HI/TAG/Hacker variety, so it's possible for EVO to boost hacking defence. Option of having Marut in SF via command token when going second is interesting, too, but very opponent- and table-dependant. All in all we'll definitely get a lot of mileage out of our TAG.
Hi all, I have tried to build a Marut list to be used in supremacy. Sorry for the big picture - I can't find the export to forums functionality in Army 7. I am not sure about the EVO bot. Perhaps it would be better to have something else there instead - Myrmidon Officer with Eclipse could be nice - replacing one of the normal smoke myrmidons. Any input would be appreciated!
I'd keep the evobot, it can add fairydust to the marut, keep it safer from hackers. I'd swap it with a netrod from the second group. They no longer have ai beacon, so there's no reason to have it in the post human group.
You never needed to have the Netrods in the same combat group as the Posthumans, and the Chain of Command is even less needed, since the three netrods are Veterans (and seem like if they take a hit but survive the damage, they must go prone, 'cause VOL0 XD), plus your only heavy hitter is the Marut, so I'd kick out the Shukra for a RemRacer or the Apsaras if possible (due to CAP in vanilla) to make the Total Reaction bot a little more dangerous (and allows to recruit an 8pts fishy marker). Also at this moment the Mk2 doesn't seem to have hidden deployment, so the sniper is quite conspicous.
Agree, I actually did remove the CoC - since, I kind of realized that if my Marut is out and dead - well, then the game is pretty much game over anyway (I guess you could argue that you could bring it up from UNC-2, but well...). I also removed the ProBot as well :) The the lizardman is in now as well. Also, thanks for your input!
Dang, I didn't notice that the MK2 lost hidden deployment. That's a massive change for the model. However, TO camo markers seems to be gone now so all camouflaged units look the same. The hacker proxy can still hide among minelayer Nagas and stuff. You're completely correct that the sniper loses a bunch of value though. Might mean that we start actually buying the Dasyu one once in a while. (and cry over having to pay the points) Edit: Ooh, the Dasyu sniper actually got 5pts cheaper. Neat.
Which was the point of nerfing Mk2 ;) Regarding markers - Camo markers display the value of their units' Mimetism; it might not be possible to pass off unit with -6 as one with -3. We need to check the exact wording of the rules. edit: and nope, no more maquerading a Dasyu or Mk2 as a Naga, or a mine. I liked such misdirection, and I'm not happy seeing it go.
I agree, but frankly... as a hacker, I prefer the Naga 'cause it's cheaper, and since no naga, mk2 or Dasyu are inmunne to shock, I prefer to lose a naga to an enemy KHD than a Dasuy; plus the Dasyu KHD comes with a BSG => no SF, shorter reach, the template is not a FtF... Right now, I see the Dasyu sniper and the FO (shock mines, FO, combi, nanopulser, flash pulse), since the FO can place a template in reactive almost the same as the BSG one, and the sniper offers something unique. For the naga I see as usable to good all profiles but for the sniper (use the Mk2) and the basic one (BSG) unless you can't afford the 0.5CAP for the minelayer, all have a use and the troop can be use for value exchange with less mental burden. nope, it would be a Camo -6, while the nagas are Camo-3
I have the exactly opposite approach - I really like my infiltrators with shotguns (though will have to test how they'll work in N4). Combi's advantage would be range and SF mode, when needed.
That's really too bad. The MK2 will be super obvious then, no guessing games on that front. Could have been an interesting new part of the game if all markers looked the same. Don't think i'll be bringing that model much anymore over the other options. And when it comes to BSG or combi, it really depends. I like combis on -6 modifier units to stack those minuses in defensive turns and be a brick wall of a roadblock. BSGs are (or were, at least) amazing active turn threats, that also pose a serious defensive danger when on a marker state unit. Depends on how I want to play my infiltrator. The fact that both Dasyu and Naga can be hackers or carry mines also still make both HI and groups scared of getting too close. Must not forget either that combi rifles will be losing a lot of value now that high armor targets get more prevalent.
The dasyu FO still has nanopulser so... The problem with BSG now are that it's either a B2 AP hit, or a B2 template. And templates won't FtF, so a troop with lots of visual modifiers loses its advantages. Also, CB is pricing the BSG like a combi in some cases, and with 1pt discount on the others... while the SMG still is dirt cheap...
DTW do get Surprise Attack now so a Dasyu/Mk2 in cover is giving -12 to shoot back before range Mods.
A Marut-related question: Since the Marut's got Remote Presence, can REM Racers place buffs on it? I'm guessing not, but it could make me a happy boy if it did.
Remote Presence plays no part, Remdriver is a skill that targets Remotes, not TAGs It could even target a Wounds-Based Cube or no Cube Remote if such a horror existed.
No, the Remdriver skill specifies Remote, although it seems like an oversight that they didn't use REM as hacking programs do.
