So, finally had the time to look at (some) profiles of N4 and so far I like most of the changes, some more than others. This one change though, simply baffles me and I don't see how it can have anything but a negative impact on many games?

Moran repeaters + Koalas with Interventor (and many times also Zoe) spamming Oblivion ARO's was, in the early days of N3, one of the most obnoxious things you could face if your army was even slightly hackable and some even speculate that this Nomads archetype was almost solely responsible for the birth of killerhackers, in order to give players a tool to combat these very uninteractive repeater networks.

So when N4 launches, and not only have everyone and their cat got access to Oblivion, but Oblivion got buffed with an extra burst and halves BTS also, why in the world would you then also go ahead and give (one of the strongest and detested infiltrators in the game) a marker state? That's a massive change and legit the one I've been the most shocked to see in N4.

    Just my two cents.
Otherwise I'm looking very much forward to playing N4.

The Burst hardly changes the standard tactic of using it in ARO.

You got tools to bypass them: Stealth and Camo. There's also bunch of stuff with Tinbot: Firewall. And I don't think Repeater works while Moran is in Camo.

Are we certain of Oblivion’s Burst? It says 1 on army.

I'm with you, I think that change is really questionable. The only silver lining (if you are playing against them) is that it seems like minelayer only lets them drop one koala at deployment. Still, it's nuts.

I'm also confused. Is it B1 or B2?

I mean Oblivion only works vs Hackable targets (and KHDs exist), so it's hardly uncounterable.

It's not a very realiable counter to Interventors, though. Especially if you are trying to go through the enemy's repeater and have no AP upgrade.

what's the actual full text of Repeater skill? My version is sort of abridged.

Our group talked about it and we decided that they probably meant to say that there is no ARO vs deployed or pitched repeaters

Yeah that's what it looks like it's going to say, and is consistent with N3

Do we know if Repeaters work in Camo? Do I have to reveal the Moran before using it's repeater? Does using the repeater reveal the Moran? I read through N4 yesterday but must have missed this part.

Edit: Found the question in the Rules-section, so ignore the post.

In the camo rules it's written that the camo state doesn't interfere with automatic special skills or automatic equipment. We have camouflaged repeaters now which, I assume, don't even get revealed when their repeater is used.

I gotta say, I just love that all YJ plebs do is whining how brokenly op Nomads are in N4. I just wish it was true. You can't just paintrain HI into enemy DZ? Thats outrageous!
Most of the 'regular' hackers (HD, HD+) don't have camo state. They are not safe from speculative fire or combat jumpers. And you can clearly see they are here. Can't you try to deal with them first before going in?

I play Nomads, dumbass. As do several highly prolific high tier players, I know exactly how insane Nomads is.
This is on another level, you’re now supposed to treat every single camo marker as a hacking threat, amongst the Zero’s, Mines, Hecklers and the Libertos and once you’ve stumbled upon the repeater source, it doesn’t even reveal itself. That’s beyond obnoxious.

Also, spec fire is a trash mechanic that’s insanely unreliable and not something you should build your list around, especially since grenade launchers no longer have +3 range bands.

What is going to be worse is when opponents walk their HI into LOS and within 8" of the Camoflaged Moran who then decides to ARO with a Boarding Shotgun. Enemy model has to either Reset and be shot for free or try to Shoot Moran and be hacked for free.

KHD were designed before N3 release, but AFAIK, there were some problems with testing it, so they were released laters (I was told they were more powerfull than what we got in N3). Oblivion was not as commonly used, and was never as problematic at all (not more than T2, K1, viral, exp... or any ammunition that actually kills. If nomads were a good faction early N3 it was not because of hacking, but because ITS missions needed a higher number of cheap specialists than now, and we were one of the few factions that could do it. Also, HI were not as common (no mixed fireteams) and the few ones that were common, had stealth (no oblivion in aro) or were long range dudes that we had problems to get near to (which meant much more investment from the hacker part)

in my opinion, Obvlivion got a sidestep, not a buff. Jumping from imposible to get a possibility to take out isolated with a reset (which can be done in aro for free) is more heavy than some think, even with that -9, but at least, it got AP ammunition, which will make it more easy to pull on certain HI. The worst thing in my opinion, is that this will become the only defensive tool for most hackers out there, and will be nerfed because all the incoming complaints.

prepare to see it all N4. It will not matter if nomads become top tier again, or if they go at the bottom of the list, nomads will be complained more than any other faction.

Whatever you do make sure to form really strong opinions and get upset over them with 0 games of play-testing.
