I'm of the, essentially, opposite opinion: while a bit of crossover could be accepted, I'd prefer if CB kept Aristeia in Aristeia, rather than having every other character spill over to Infinity.
Honestly i was completely in your camp and wish they had kept them seperate, but at this point its obvious they havent and wont stop doing it. So why shouldnt we also get some wierd nonsense busted aristo. At least Hammerhead represents a concept ive wanted to see for a while, what happens when you enhance a supersoldier further by putting them in power armor too. But to digress sorta for a second, im kinda not into cb pushing infinity into herohammer territory. It was ok for steel phalanx, that's their schtick. And having one cool character per sectoral/vanilla is cool. Hell even most dire foes are great. But 6-2 move, or superjump, or total immunity mixed onto reality star characters, especially when it doesnt fit that well is getting tiresome. And all these merc characters that are added as tie ins, or so there can be limited edition models attatched to every big release that everyone can get and use is getting overwhelming.
Fellow Haqqislam Players, We are in a waiting period right now. While I am excited, we don't know the extent that N4 will change our beloved faction and if will fundamentally change our playing style. All we know that there will be change and some people will be happy, some sad, and some angry. But the one thing that I hope we will be able to agree on with that we continue to treat each other with respect. I love how great the Haqqislam subform is and I hope we don't lose our atmosphere in the edition transition.
I agree that I don't like the flashy/silly Aristeia characters in Infinity, but it is what it is. The Chemical Brothers do seem like an obvious tie in to Haqqislam & RTF (due to association with Caliphate and Runihura). It could be a function like a slower version of Carmen and Batard - which I would personally prefer the aesthetics of.
We haven't before, effendi. Therefore, I don't expect we will this time. I guess we'll be passing around rounds of mint tea - virtual, of course - in troves. And perhaps pretending we don't see what some of our bretheren are filling their shisha with. You know, the old and honoured Haqq forum's expression about someone "taking traditional Hassassin classes" didn't come out of nothing ;) We've been though it once, and we have out on the other side - still doing fine.
So from what we know right now, Vanilla Haqqislam: Two additional mid-field units with Minitism -6 and good BS (12+) A new STR 6 with BS 14 A new shooty LT with MSV2 Revamped Mutts that are a little less toolboxy on a single profile. And we will even know more on September 25th! I wonderful how this will affect our playing style?
I felt that the big part was Muyibs and Asawira gainting wildcard status. I think that will make both profiles really shine.
I'm really happy with the new Haqqislam's units, they are all interesting and quite fresh for the army. Something that I always wanted - different weapon loadouts, not only the classic rifle+light shotgun (which isn't bad, but sometimes you want something else). It's impossible to judge all the news and changes without all the N4 rules, but I like what I see. All of the new units can be useful - Yara is great, with cheap MSV2 and great BS mixed with good weapon. Shujae is different, than we expected, but also nice with Mimetism -6, good deployment, interesting weapons and being specialist. And Hassassin Nadhir is becoming my favourite - a cheaper almost-Noctifier with shocking Flammenspeer, SMG and FO?... Great! :D Something my Haqq really wanted to make my aggressive ARO even more irritating ;) Hoping for a great design and fantastic miniature! And about Ghazi - I also like the changes. I was one of the few Haqq's players that didn't use full AVA, or even didn't use any of those fanatics. I thought that their price in N4 will increase to about 10 pts, but I prefer the solution CB made - to divide the weapon options and leave guys cheaper. Now I just have to figure out if I'm going to convert the minis to show the profiles better, as I have them assembled, but still not painted. PozdRawiam / Greetings
I really like the new units and I can see plenty of use in both vanilla and HB. Interesting to notice is how the Nadhir can't recamo after exiting hidden deployment, so you gotta make a decision whether you want to go for an ARO or take advantage of that surprise attack shot. Doesn't seem to have stealth either. The varied loadout options make me very excited, I can see a use case for every profile option. Yara seems pretty good as well for a cheapish troop to use against HI with visual modifiers. Minus the burst, you'll do similar damage like an HMG and the rangebands prefer the midfield more.
Even more than that, as it doesn't have a Marker state at all once it appears out of Hidden Deployment, Surprise Attack is going to require having LoF from the deployment position.
That's what I suspected - when he starts to move he'll become visible, which makes using the Surprise Attack a bit trickier, but still doable. I think he'll be great for surprise AROs with that HD and FD. I already thought about some mind-games of deploying him in reserve, while pretending to decide whether to deploy a Nahab or not - that's a unit that can hide Nadhir nicely, because you can put it on the table, using infiltration, but also you can suggest you're not doing this and let the enemy think you've chosen to let Nahab go on board later in game with airborne infiltration ;) Definitely we're getting some nice new options in Haqq. With Flammenspeers, E/M Mines et cetera. Interesting times :) PozdRawiam / Greetings
I think that image only shows that Naffatuns are slow in water, while the PanO guy runs fast. Looking at the all new Nomad stuff - EVA, new remote - I'm a bit worried by how cheap and tough they are. Especially EVAs. I hope our NWI/Imm Shock /Total guys will also be a bit cheaper. I know we haven't seen the whole N4, but even compared to what we've seen the new guys look just too good. We have to wait to learn more, yet I hope for some points adjustments for our units, for example Namurrs. PozdRawiam / Greetings
Heh, maybe you're right. Poor Naffatun, he's losing the footrace and also he's getting scalded by steam. It's just not his day. At this point I think we're looking at significant points adjustments across the board. My personal hope is for cheaper Fidays. But yeah, Namurr is a prime candidate. Al Fasid also comes to mind for a major points reduction. And then there are units who could easily get adjusted through changing their de-nested skills (Tuaregs), or whose skills will just be less valuable in the new rules (Tarik, probably). I think list-building is going to look very very different in N4. 13 more days!
Take this with a good lad of salt, but from the leaks...Naffatun get Desert Terrain everything else is the same; Fidays cheaper and better; Namurr...meh, a tiny bit cheaper and loses aswell gains things; Tuaregs sadly dont change, just the sniper and hacker are a bit cheaper; Tarik...cheaper, better in CC.
Two big gamechangers as far as I can see. Mines on all Farzan profiles - big midfield weakness addressed. Daylami inferior infiltration being swapped to "Infiltration=7" means that you can have 6pt, 0.5 SWC camo turrets at your deployment zone. Or possibly just safe infiltrate them anywhere on your table edge. Always thought the strongest possible thing to do for Daylami would be to remove the mandatory from inferior infiltrate. I doubt this is the final rule, seems way too busted especially if they can deploy forwards. Jesus, my lists for haqq or hassassins usually have spare swc. Just jamming a handful of panzer turrets in combat group two seems totally nuts
Woa, completely overlooked the Mines on the Farzans... If the Daylami really dont have to infiltrate anymore, I would even try them again....but since they are the same price as non Infiltrating ones, I suspect its still obligatory. What I dont get is, why Muyibs got so much better, and Govads didnt change at all. The better MSV is immediately overshadowed by those buffs. There is always Vanilla Haqq. Not updated for two months, but still.
