Well, I for one am excited to see where the story goes and what they have in mind for the armies. My suspicion is that CB felt that YJ and JSA were getting stale but couldn't add what they wanted to without negatively affecting balance. By splintering off JSA from YJ they have essentially opened up a ton of design space for options that would have been imbalancing in combination before.
oNnO No way it's a fake. . . . .!! Surely it hails from the brand new, anti-japanese rebel-stompers “Inner Cadre” of soldiers selected for fealty towards familial party members. . . Armed with only the best of counter-insurgence techniques, training and wargear, they pass a grueling battery of test that made balk even the most hardened between the “Invincibles”. . .! They are called. . . . . .the ”Improbables”. . .!! . . . . . And don't forget that Bostria many years ago has spoilered in a Comical Strip a particulary hard-heartened brand of spiteful, unnecessary cruel Invincible Veterans. . . . .the “Insensibles” !!! . . . . . Silly jokes aside, we'll see how it will be all develop. . . . .!!!
I wanted to say that rules-wise Yu Jing will be fine because CB wouldn't strip out profiles and leave the wound gaping for years. But that assessment is based on the same understanding of the company which made me think they'd never sever JSA from YJ entirely that would be silly, so now I'm not so sure. Mechanics aside, even the setting aside (and I have so very many worries on that front) I'm also looking at this and am concerned for 'us', the Yu Jing community. Our faction isnt overpowered, but its not massively underpowered. It doesnt have the most players, but it has a good number. And yet we always seem to fall short when it comes to global events... we can't come close to PanO in the grand scheme, and smaller powers seem able to outpace us. Whatever we might say about CB vilifying our Faction unfairly, that comes down to us either not having enough people fighting battles, or having people who cant win battles (I'm the former, I got several games in for Flamestrike but completely failed to get my local group playing for Wotan, ugh). Losing JSA doubles down on that problem, and that is going to sting in the setting because Yu Jing will look like a footnote not a conceivable rival to the Hyperpower when results are tallied. It is also going to sting if @Yasashii Fuyu and other players with that level of passion/engagement move off to the Secessionist banner. Knowing that, I've gone from excitement for the spring global campaign, to dread.
Smaller powers outpace us because they formed the Axis Of Evil in Flamia and while Ariadna dropped off in Wotan the rest kept going at it. With any luck our high command might be able to strike a deal with someone (someone useful and collaborative -glares at Aleph in disgust-) next campaign so we are not facing everyone alone.
Soooooooo after reading this entire thread (woa), does anyone CARE about the new models? I for one love them! Not just fanboy love either. I'm glad I picked JSA up a couple months ago, before all this excitement. I cannot wait to see what the profiles are going to be on that giant samurai. I'm thinking since dual wielding and no sign of a gun, could this possibly be a "Dog Face" type character? A S5 Cameronian if you will? Almost a Shikami, but no ODD or Climbing+.
If you only played JSA or ISS then this transition doesn't mean much for you other than new models. It's the Vanilla players that are getting screwed over here. I have Aragoto, Raiden, Shikami, Oniwabans, Kitsune, Yuriko and Tokusetsu that are now all looking like I can't use them. It's hard to give an actual damn about new models when we've got this to worry about first. I'm just glad I didn't buy an O-Yoroi, I feel bad for those Vanilla TAG users who picked up the O-Yoroi.
I totally get where you and other people are coming from with this thread, I totally do. I on the other hand, when I invest in a certain faction, I just invest in the whole faction. So I'm not really that all bent out of shape about it. Things are only getting better for this game in my humble opinion.
Well, they're really not if you're a Vanilla player. The past few weeks have just been one shitty disappointment after the other culminating in a "Great, what the fuck am I supposed to do with all these models now? I'm not starting another army."
I lack any type of core links. I have a bunch of specialist models designed to slot into vanilla lists built around them or to fill out specific jobs like the Raiden or Tokusetsu. In fact I don't even have an engineer or doctor anymore for Vanilla with this change, I don't own the Zhanshi support pack. That's frustrating.
I wonder if internal strife among YJ players during the campaigns influenced CB's decision? They can proxy it as a Guijia if they want... Definitely, @Triumph - by my math you already have ~270 points of JSA. The new box gets you some line troopers and some other options to get that up to probably over 400 (maybe 500?) points. :)
Do you mean the 90€ new box he shouldn't have to buy if he hadn't been screwed over by this "super cool" event
I understand where you're coming from. Consider that yesterday's update to the proxy rules allows you to run your Tokusetsu as Mech-Engineers or Yisheng, your Oniwaban/Kitsune as Ninja, Guilang, etc, your Raiden as ABHs, Guilang, etc...
Let's be real nobody wants to do that. If they wanted to do that they already have a Guija, and now they have a Guija and a TAG they have no use for anymore. If I wanted to play JSA, I'd be playing JSA. The point is I don't play JSA because their overall toolset isn't appealing to me in the slightest. I bought my models to work in lists I built for Vanilla. i.e. Kitsune pairs with Sun Tze, the Aragoto replace Tiger Soldiers in Exclusion Zone missions. These models all had a purpose, now they don't. That's a big bloody fail on CB's behalf, all their attempt at hype has done nothing but shit me off as a customer.
I didn't start playing Infinity to play a stupid proxy wars game. Not to mention this doesn't fix shit about me suddenly being lumped with models that no longer have purpose. I already have Ninjas, I already have Guilangs. I don't need these models + 3 extra proxy models for the same profiles. What do I need 3 extra proxy models for? It's not like I can ever use 5 Guilang. The hell do I even do with these 3 Aragoto and Asuka? Come on, which one of you Warcors is gonna try and shill a proxy for these models. Do I use them as REMs or very very small Guija?
Seems once again Yu Jing gets to take one for the team. I am sure Nomads and the other factions are howling with laughter. Myself I don't care about shiny new models. Where the heck is the new sectoral book? Want to help the game along how about actually giving us the rest of the faction sectorals. JSA didn't need to split off we need the invincible army and the models and rules that will make and what ever they tell us the new campaign book that goes along with it will be called. I remeber Carlos on beast of war showing the hac tao or doafei and saying these guys with the white face plates will be getting their own sectoral soon.......13 years or so ago. I am not buying the new book or any of these new models. I haven't had to buy a model in quite some time actually because I dont need another resculpt of a resculpt. We have like 6 Hac tao now for an ava 1 model. How about giving me the other 2 Yu Jing sectorals to make up for losing JSA?
