CB also just changed the proxy rules to be much more relaxed so you can keep using your JSA minis as Yu Jing minis (or vice versa) officially if you're worried about tournaments and stuff. I think they're trying to take the sting out of it for people in your situation.
There's an image from the last round of seminars showing when everything is getting released so they're all not coming at Gencon. Sure someone will have a quick link to it. Spending a bit of time looking at the minis I'm not a huge fan of the big samurai HI. Looks really cheezy and out of place. Like the other models though. Also looks like they changed some of the tones of the colors in the JSA paint scheme, the red is much darker. Could be the video compression causing that though.
That's actually my hope! That the magazine blurb seems off because the JSA's 'morality' will be a different thing entirely, and the use of the Kempeitai name will be accompanied by plot developments that properly align to their historical crimes.
https://www.infinitythegame.com/blog/news/item/474-its-s9-proxies-rules-a-change-for-improvement Basically allows you to use any mini to proxy any other (as long as it's the same base size) even if there's already a model for that profile. So now you can proxy a Tokusetsu doctor as a Zhanshi doctor or the O Yoroi as a Guijia.
Under the previous rules, if the model existed, you had to use it. This meant that while you could use an Exrah as your a Nexus Operative proxy, once that model was released, you could no longer do it... even though the Exrah *are* CB miniatures. Hell, *technically*, you could not put an Ahl Fassed on a 40mm base to use as an Al Fasid because they're not the same trooper. The new rules allow for superseded models to continue to be valid proxies provided: 1) It's clear that something *is* a proxy and it is also clear *what* it is proxied as. 2) Your TO approves. For 1, as good rule of thumb, if your proxy explanation is starts with "This fusilier is a [trooper] but this fusilier is a [different trooper] and this fusilier is my HVT" - it's not clear. For 2, consider it a catch all to allow TOs to call out people proxying in bad faith. EDIT: Furthermore, many TOs ignored the previous, overly restrictive proxy rules in favor of what are now the proxy rules. This means there's no chance of @Bostria appearing out of hidden deployment and whisking them off to a Kuang Shi re-education center.
Helmut and Carl Maria were decent guys tho, they didn't associate with Hitler. Granted, that's because Hitler hadn't been born, but they also had a very different character from Rommel, Rommel was (ironically, since he was from Wurtemberg) the classic over-agressive prussian hussar, those two were theorists and planners. German military tradition is a very interesting thing.
Some printscreens: I must say I still don't like the keisotsu and I'm not sure why. Something seems off to me. Somehow I get the feeling they are stiff like wooden statues. Also the hakkama pants one the far right guy is folding in a very wrong way.
Damn, i must say, that spec ops character and the new oniwaban are honesty 2 of the best models ive seen all year so far.
I love that SPEC OPs. The only real loser in the box is that Mr. Big Hat. The more I look at it, the more I hate the sculpt, the pose, everything about it.
Poor taste, yes, but not nearly as poor taste as adding Kempeitai to a miniature game and setting them up to be liberation heroes. Unless I mix them up with a different entity, we're still talking about the military police in charge of supplying pleasure girls to the imperial forces and managing prison camps in occupied China.
Well, today's "liberation heroes" could very easily be tomorrow's merciless secret police, enforcing "order and morals", so...
I'm hoping the hat is optional, might make me like it more. As it is now I don't think I could play it without giggling over how dumb it looks. You can do mecha samurai well (Eden has some) but this looks like a caricature of one.
