Dear Post-Humans, I wanted to open a discussion regarding our Repeater options (or lack of) in ALEPH. If you exclude Sylla, our options are pretty poor, with only bots available. We don't have any deployable repeaters or frontline units carrying repeaters. How do you gals & guys go around this limitation ? Do you think we could have new options in vedic ? such as an AD unit with a repeater, or Dakinis with repeaters ? (à la Nomads)
Well... at the moment the only way for us to get repeaters outside what you already listed is using either the Danavas' or Thamirys' pitcher weapon to deploy repeaters. Other than that, we don't have any other troop to deploy them. It's a shame that we only have 2 lamedh available, as it is a common combo for some armies to field 3 8-point repeater remotes and a EVO hacker remote to give them B2 on ARO.
See, I do like the fact that the pitcher option is rather safe, but I find it unreliable and takes orders.
As someone who plays both Nomads and Aleph, I'm actually of the opinion that a repeater network isn't something Aleph should have or needs because our hackers are already better than other armies on their own. Our hacking WIPS are basically all 14 and above, with the exception of Scylla. We have 2 HD+, one of which comes on a MSV3 HI. In terms of hacking up the board, we have 3 infiltrating hacker options. Two of which have TO, one of which has camo. A Dasyus also might be the scariest killer hacker in the game. Aleph can get where it needs to go midfield with hacking IMO. Can you cite what armies you are talking about? I wasn't aware any army got AVA 3 of the flash-pulse bots.
Acontecimento and Neoterra are the ones I currently play and both have AVA 3 on Fugazi. I don't know about others, but those are the ones I play along with Aleph (which sadly cannot field as many...). Let's hope that Vedic will have an increase in Lamedh availability.
I feel that 1) i want people with deployable repeaters, hopefully vedic has it. Its something we lack. But 2) our aggressive hackers excluding scylla are all infiltration so need less repeater network than other physically weaker hackers. But yea, danavas has a pitcher. She is worth the orders walking down lanes people cannot see to shoot that pitcher and kill all enemy hackers.
Technically you can also bring 2 daleths. 4 flash pulses B2 ARO drones, 2 of them being able to use combi rifle and being specialists. If you ever put a zayin (or any long range hard hitting ARO troop here) behind theses, it's going to be a real headache for your opponent (or he just use smoke), and that's not really expensive for Aleph. I mostly use lamedhs as mobile repeaters, and a single probot as static ones (often to provide repeater coverage for my rear guard, for example to be able to buff a zayin). Or i use Scylla, who is probably the very best mobile repeater of the game (have you ever tried overclock and cybermask on her ? it's funny how scared your opponent may look). I'm not fond of our pitchers, since they only come on valuable hackers and firing pitcher may expose them to unexpected ARO. Plus the danava is not exactly a crack shooter, so missing the shot is a frequent occurrence even in the +3 range band. I would like an AD repeater, mostly to buff garudas, but our hacker infiltrators are already really good at it and don't really need coverage.
Remember that you cannot benefit from both Overclock and Cybermask, as once they use Cybermask, their repeaters shut down while being an impersonation marker. It would only be effective on the second turn, when you already have those devabots on the middle field, but not on your first turn unless there's a clear path for the devabots to go unscathed.
An impersonation marker still has a repeater, if that repeater is used then the model reveals itself. So i think they stack.
Only if used in that specific order (first Overclock, then Cybermask), otherwise they would lose their impersonation state.
What are you guys even talking about here? Scylla can't be overclocked and the devabot can't be cybermasked.
G: Sync units benefit from hacking programs run on the controller, so if Scylla uses Cybermask her Synced bots also enter Imp-2.
Dammit I even looked at the wiki before posting that to make sure I didn't look like an idiot. I need to learn to read.
Sorry, that's my interpretation too, but i should have mentionned it. I've also used it the other way: use cybermask, move devabot close to an enemy HI, use repeater to hack it into IMM-1 (repeater is revealed but can't be the target of the ARO), then finally use overclock on said repeater. HI could try reset during it's turn but with 2 autohit HFT, the opponent had to either move another unit and spend several order to get rid of the devabot, or risk having his HI fried.
Not disagreeing with you, but why would they loose the state? Overclock doesn't use repeaters, just effects units with them. The repeater isn't used as it is a board wide program
