Could see the Zuyong go down 5 points...but still no match for them then. But who knows, maybe stuff is getting a lot cheaper in general. If we look at the new HB stuff, everything is quite cheap for what you get.
Talk about powercreep when you'll see the old stuff, will you? You do know that old units you're comparing these ones against will change as well, right? My only real issue here is that Shock Immunity on Sombras. Aside from that it's a very good MI, and I'd like to remind people that MI are Nomad specialty. For example I'd expect YJ HI to get more impressive in N4, too.
They will either get skils and gear and stat boosts (power creep), they will drop in price (power creep again) or they will remain mostly the same and new stuff will be relevant while the old is not.
I'll just quote myself: If everything will gain some power and will be balanced with each other then talking about powercreep in the sense you two were doing above - new stuff being much better than the old one - is hardly justified. What I expect is that more units will get powered up, offensively, defensively, or both, which will actually make for more exciting game, because players will have more choices and options to use against one another.
Well put. And it kinds of makes me wonder, if all armies and most troops are getting buffs/tweaks and staying roughly in line, with all of it happening at roughly the same time, how is that “power creep”?
My point exactly. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure that CB will nail the balancing this time around. And if they'll manage to convey faction identity at the same time. For example, what will they do to sell Aleph troops' inhuman durability to people? Give them more Immunity, up to and including Total (btw, notice the AP Immunity on Vostok remotes. This is something I could totally see in Aleph)? Not that I'd complain...
We don't have yet the whole picture. A couple weeks for it :) Be patience!! Yes, I had the same issue, but after I tolk with a friend a little, the concept don't fix because we are seing the MI as they are in N3, not what they probably become in N4, more like non hackeables HI, then more expensive than the "classic HI", or like more powerfull LI, so, more expensive than the classic LI. If Corbus continues for the path they are showing us, MI are now what they should have been in N3, something between LI and HI. Still, we have to wait a little longer.
IF and that's a big assumption. So far we're mostly seeing new stuff greatly surpass the old stuff. And that's the definition of power creep.
You think it’s a big assumption. I think it’s a reasonable assumption. And regardless, without having old profiles in N4 language, we haven’t the information to judge, so it’s merely chicken littling.
I think we should get used to the idea that MI aren't supposed to be cheaper than HI; that they're specialists, positively festooned with equipment, highly skilled, and versatile. And expensive. Still, I'd prefer them to be less durable than HI :P How much updated old stuff we've seen, though? Wildcats (which got seriously powered up), and Tankhunters (which rose in value because good sources of AP will get more valuable in N4). Until we can actually compare old and new units in their N4 iterations, we're unable to accurately judge the situation. We have incomplete data. And as the first rule of data analysis says, "garbage in, garbage out". I do agree that there's a risk that CB designers got excited about creating new units more than they did about updating old ones. But for now it's only a risk of a power creep.
Let's say I'm an old jaded gamer and it looks like the coming of every single power creep I've ever seen. Will be glad to be pleasantly surprised, have zero faith that I will, unfortunately.
The issue I have with that quote is the part where it's missing that CB over saturated the ever loving fuck out of the game with shock weaponry harder than a chinese chef throwing MSG into his dish which created this whole issue for profiles with NWI but no immunity. MOAR SMGS. MOAR MULTI. LOOK AT THESE NEW SHOCK MARKSMEN RIFLES. MOAR MARKSMEN PROFILES. YOU GET A SHOCK SUPPORTWARE REMOTE YOU GET A SHOCK SUPPORTWARE REMOTE OSS HAS LINKING SHOCK SUPPORTWARE REMOTES They kinda made that problem themselves.
Fair enough. I'm sure I'll find a way to enjoy the game regardless, so I'm not as concerned. In two weeks we'll see. As Haqq players would say, Kismet. Partially true, though I remember people complaining about 1W+NWI even before the SMG fiesta, because their precious unit might encounter mines. So I don't have much respect for constant complains. Some points are well made, even if I don't agree with them myself. But most of it feels like complaining for its own sake. Changing some of the Ammo types sideways - letting SMG use only one type of ammo and introducing much more rare Multi SMGs, for example - would be more than welcome, yes.
Well Dao Fei seems to cost the same going by the battle report they used him in, and I don't see Zuyong dropping 8 points or so, and those are the closest profiles I can compare to the new profiles, so it really seems like power creep. Also, it was already happening with the newest profiles. Also, when way more than half the profiles they show have either Mimetism or NWI+SI, both really optimized options, I can't help but wonder where this is all going. I also don't see all HI getting 3 wounds, so stuff like the Sombra encroaching on HI supposed roles is still worrying for me.
So the stupid solution to the stupid mistake is not rolling back the stupid mistake, but instead making Stupid Mistake #2 and spam Shock Immunity all over the place, making both Shock AND Shock Immunity irrelevant. yay...
